From what I understand, its worn to help the opponent not slip off the guys wrist when doing clotheslines and such.
Though guys like CM Punk seem to do it for looks. |

Brawler was a mainstay with the wwe in the 80's and 90's and did a lot of jobs to a lot of guys. He wasnt a superstar but, a guy who did what he had to do and still a memner of the WWE today.
