2004 was filled with many exciting moments including great matches from TNA and ROH, and the return of many stars to the independent scene such as Randy Savage, Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley and Ricky Steamboat. Many can argue that these moments were highlights of the year but the one event that undoubtedly stood out in 2004 is the rare U.S. appearance of New Japan Pro Wrestling superstar Jushin "thunder" Liger. In the month of November the "Weekend of Thunder" made its way to Boston where Liger defeated Bryan Danielson to a standing ovation. The following night Liger and Samoa Joe faced off against the team of Bryan Danielson and Low Ki and defeated them infront of the thankful NJ fans. The memorable weekend will be savored as one of the biggest and most exciting events of the year if not ever in the company's history.
