Since its birth, Ring of Honor has been one of the most talked about wrestling promotions in the country, but 2004 proved to be a bitter-sweet year for the promotion. On the brink of one what was set to be their biggest event of the year ("At Our Best", Wrestlemania weekend), Ring of Honor owner Rob Feinstein faced accusations of pedophilia and allegedly left the company. The scandel of the companies new ownership continued when NWA TNA pulled all their talent from all ROH shows until ROH eventually parted ways with RF Video. ROH and its fans rallied together and in turn produced some of the most memorable moments of 2004. Moments including the dangerous scramble cage match in Boston, the debuts of both Ricky "the dragon" Steamboat and Hardcore icon Mick Foley, as well as the reunion of the Midnight Express, the managerial debate featuring Bobby "the brain" Heenan and Jim Cornette, and of course the highly praised rare U.S. appearance of Jushin "Thunder" Liger. Alongside these accomplishments was the rising of new stars as well as numberous match of the year candidates performed by ROH's current roster. ROH continued to bring its style of wrestling around the east with return dates in NJ, OH, MD, WI, MA, IL and MN and proved to be one of the most powerful and controversial companies of the year.
