Both have their advantages, but if you had to pick, which would you say is more entertaining for a fed?

And please, don't answer, "well it depends on the wrestler". Of course it does, but viscerally, which way do you lean.

The heel is the guy you don't want to see as champion but if the face is champ than the fun of hating the champ is gone. Examples: Ric Flair, Jeff Jarrett, HHH etc.

The heel will always be the better champion. He'll use any tactic possible to win and to hold the title. That always appealed to me.

What's that supposed to mean? Is that sort of an underhanded compliment? Kinda sorta? Nope, I figured it wasn't. Embarassed

CLASSIC RANDY..

Good luck Sunday again..in your match too..

I voted heel of course. Much better upside for the face guy chasing the title, and more cheap ways to keep the belt. Face wont get hardly any votes.

11-22 Uconn Hockey vs RIT
11-24 WWE Raw
12-5 PGW
12-6 NEW

1-3-09 GHTBL Awards dinner. Bolton, CT.

It got mine! I see your point. A face can't have it all the time. Probably is better to have a face chasing the belt. Gotta go now and finish Raw before I screw up again.

A hot babyface chasing after the title will sell more tickets than a hot babyface defending the title. People pay money to see the bad guy get beat up.

Heels make better champions.

I didn't figure this to be so lopsided. WWE for the most part has had face champions. Ric Flair, obviously, was the ultimate heel champ.

Go check out Nick Bockwinkel's stuff if you want to see what a heel champ was all about.

A recently example is Homicide. Everyone was behind him in his pursuit of Bryan Danielson. Then he won, and while it was an emotional match, his title matches, while good, just kinda fell flat. Same with Sting. He chased Hogan for over a year and a half. Then he won it and shit was downhill from there.

I'll second that, and add Harley Race as NWA World champion.

Bockwinkel may be the most under rated worker ever.

I tend to prefer a heel with babyfaces chasing him/her. As a formula, it works better. Guys like Hogan, Sammartino, (to a lesser extent) Morales were either dynamic, annomolous personalities (Hogan) and/or strong ethnic draws specificly targeted for the regions they were working in. When Backlund was made champion...I loved the guy and he didn't tank, but he didn't have the same punch needed for a babyface champion to really draw huge money.

On the other hand...a good heel champion has the ability to always look vulnerable enough to get beat, yet manages to keep winning. Flair was a master of this. Bockwinkle was great. Buddy Rogers was phenomenal.

Harley Race was a little different than those guys...and probably my favorite. You looked at him and you just KNEW he was this tough bastard, and to beat him the babyface had to rise above everybody else to do so. Where the other three I mentioned kind of made it look like they had to He was more a heel not because he was a cheap, cheating bastard but this onery tough prick that treated people around him like shit. He didnt' have to cheat all the time to get his heat. People wanted him knocked off because they hated his attitude and the heat was drawn during the portions of the match where the babyface looked like he may upend a legitimate ass kicker with a bad attitude. Then...when he did cheat, it meant more because it looked like he finally found someone who was tougher than he was.

Randy Savage -v- Don Muraco, heel/heel; live, Foxboro Stadium (now Gillette) in the finals what was advertised as a "King of the Ring" tournement when I was a kid. One of the best matches I ever saw live, and the old Foxboro setup was actually an awesome place to see a show as well. One of the thing that made me want to try this stuff.

No live edition of "Fuji Vice", however.
