Games? What games?
lolnintendo
In all seriousness, there really isn't much for the system. The Nintendo games are really good - Zelda, Mario, Super Smash Bros., etc. Of course, you really shouldn't expect any less from them.
There is a ton of shovelware for the system though - Nintendo's quality control for their own games is pretty damn high, but for third-party games they couldn't give two shits. If you see a game on the shelves for $20, there's probably a good reason it's that price. Do your research before you buy anything.
http://wii.ign.com/ is a pretty good site and they've got some comprehensive reviews there too.
Heh, I'm just looking over the review section on that site now, and the number of games that are rated 5.0 or less is staggering. |

Def get Mario Party, it's very good.
I think the best game on the Wii and one of the best I've ever played on any system is Super Mario Galaxy. Anyone that has the Wii MUST get this game.
Zelda, Super Paper Mario, Resident Evil, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, and both versions of Trauma Center and Rayman Raving Rabbits, Metroid, and Wii Play are all great games that come to mind as well.
There are a lot of bad games though too. I've tried many games that I thought I'd like and didn't because of the motion controls. I would recommend renting games before buying them unless you're sure you will like them. I've wasted a lot of money on games that I didn't end up liking and then started renting them first instead.
Wii Fit comes out in late May and should be awesome if you're into something like that. If you want that, you should reserve it because it will probably be hard to get when it comes out. |

I actually didn't like Smash Bros, never played it before and don't get all the hype. I know I'm in the vast minority on that one, but I don't like it.
As you can see from my avatar, I'm a big fan of the Wii |

I just finally found the time to set it up and play. I got one a few weeks ago.
Anyone have it?
What are some of the good games for it? |
OK, congrats on getting your Wii. Ive had mine and loved it since launch! The software lineup is really polarizing, so i always thought that its a good idea to ask other gamers what they think of them. I always got the feeling that some review sources, like game informer, ride the short bus to school and have no idea how to play. But here are a bunch of suggestions from my library that i love.
No More Heroes- All around crazy game, you play as an anime and wrestling obsessed fan who is working to become the worlds number 1 ranked assasin. its VERY crazy, violent, and Funny. Its a fun game, With crazy style and its like NOTHING youve ever seen before... unless youve played the directors previous game, killer 7
Metroid Prime 3- One of the best controlling first person shooter/adventures ever. The Wii controls are outstanding. Very Deep, long, and just plain awesome.
Medal of Honor- Heroes 2- Same as above, the Incredible controls take what would be a bland WWII shooter and turns it into a really fun game. 32 player online multiplayer helps. I cant stress enough how good the FPS controls are, while there is learning curve(its a totally new way of control i wasnt used to) after an hour there was no looking back. I would choose this and metroid over any other FPS on any console for the controls alone.
Godfather- Blackhand edition- Amazing port with really fun controls. the Nunchuck is your left hand and the Wiimote your right. And you basically kick the shit out of everyone. VERY fun game, would recomend even if you played the PS2 version. Can be found for 20$ online.
House of the Dead 2+3 - picture pefect port of the arcade games at a budget price. With a Zapper or the Nyco perfect shot gun(which rules) it is the best a light gun shooter i have ever played on a home console. 30$ price is nice too.
Resident Evil Umbrella chronicles- Not as great controls as HOTD,(doesnt have IR calibration for perfect accuracy) but is mandatory for a RE fan. Still lots of fun and gives lots of the RE backstory. aslo, you should look into RE4(30$ and worth every penny) if you havent played it yet as its the best version out there! the controls are great.
Fire Emblem- radiant dawn - Crazy turn based strategy game. if its your cup of tea i highly recomend it. No motion or IR controls at all, But its a very Deep, challenging, and Fun strategy game.
Zelda- My favorite one of all, period.
Zack and Wiki- Crazy puzzle solving game, its a point and click adventure unliek anything out there today.
Pro Evolution soccer 2008- The greatest controlling sports game i have ever seen. Im not a big soccer fan, but you control your guy with the nunchuck and you use the WIImote IR to coordinate, control, and plan your other players real time. its insane. Cool online modes too.
and Smash Bros and mario galaxy are great too, but i figure youve probably already heard that. Ive also got a shitload more, let me know if you want any more opinions then that(my library is ataround 27 Wii games). |

Ive got manhunt, and its an OK game. If you are into horror like i am you might get into it. The controls work really well but i found the story to be pretty bland. The censorship also hurt it in IMO. If you could get it under 30$ id recomend it as its definetly fun, but anything above i think is too much.
I was the same way with the controller too. At first playing any FPS's or driving games like excitetruck were kinda tricky, but now its like second nature. I honestly cant go back to dual analog FPS controls anymore after playing MP# and medal of honor.
p.s.- download river city ransom, that shit is awesome. And the Wii version of rock band has the same features as the PS2 version. I just cant understand though why Guitar Hero 3 can go online but Rock Band cant. Needless to say, Rock band WII in my mind is a shitty afterthought port and becuase of that im not interested... even if the white drum set looks cool. |
