Ring of Honor Tag Team champion Mark Briscoe will be out indefinetly due to a wrist problem that requires surgery. ROH ran an angle last night in Chicago Ridge, IL where the Age of the Fall attacked him with a spike and bloodied his arm and "injured" his wrist to explain his absence.

Briscoe originally hurt the wrist in March during the Dover, NJ double shots and the original diagnosis was that the injury wasn't so bad, so he kept working on it. When it was discovered surgery was going to be needed, ROH ran the angle to explain his departure.

There is no word on what the company will do with their Tag Team belts in the interim and there is no timetable set for Mark's return yet.

Becoming? Those two have been leaving it all in the ring for years. Blood, sweat, teeth. It was only a matter of time.

I hope they get stripped of the belts. So that way they'll always have won them more than they got beat for them. Five time winners, four time losers. And then Jay can enter the hunt for Nigel's belt because Nige got cottled through his injury.

I meant to say that it's getting a lot worse than before.

I remember them coming in for NECW several years ago, and them nearly killing each other during the match with repeated head dropping types of moves. Given the time passed, The older of the two at least must be closing in on 30. I noticed when I hit that age, recovery time started to slow down, old injuries started to rear their ugly head and things I did for years started hurting when they didn't used to. While I can feel bad for him...considering the style they work, it's hardly suprising.

I just looked up they're ages and they are only 24 and 23... years old so they are basically still youngn's..... one was born 1984 and 1985 is the others.

I seem to remember them coming in for Sheldon at Good Times during his first year of operation. NECW has to have been around for 7-8 years now. That would place the youngest one at around 16. Not that it isn't possible...but that seems awful young for someone's parents to let them travel so far on their own and to participate in pro wrestling matches. I may be completely wrong on the dates though...I am horrible with dates and timelines.

I remember reading about The Briscoes working for ECWA while they were still in High School. And let's not forget the time that CZW had one of the Briscoes work under a mask to try and get around the PA Athletic Commission's rule that one had to be 18 years old to be able to wrestle.

Jay was born in 1984 and Mark in 1985. So early/mid 20's.

There was definitely some underage wrestling going on as I remember seeing quite a few matches before the age became an issue.

We can only hope it wasn't the cause of the wrist injury.

From http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=1970:
There was a lot of debate in the ROH offices today about what to do
with the ROH World Tag Team Titles. Jay & Mark Briscoe won the belts
for the 5th time on 4/12 in Edison, NJ. However, Mark was viciously
attacked last Saturday in Chicago Ridge, IL by The Age Of The Fall.
The attack saw Jimmy Jacobs stab Mark in the wrist, causing severe
ligament damage. Mark will undergo surgery this Friday and will be
out of action for 3-6 months.

ROH officials decided that it was unfair to strip Jay Briscoe of the
titles. After exploring several different possibilities, it has been
decided that Jay will be able to pick a replacement partner and
continue to defend the belts.

The next ROH World Tag Team Title Match will take place on 5/10 at
the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, NY when Jay Briscoe and a
partner defend against The Age Of The Fall team of Jimmy Jacobs &
Tyler Black.

Jay said he wanted a couple of days to think about a partner. We
will report Jay's choice here when he makes his decision. His
partner will be someone already on the ROH roster.

This figures to be the most emotional ROH World Tag Team Title
defense of Jay's career. He said he is fighting for his brother on
May 10th in New York City. Tickets are now 33% off at
ROHwrestling.com.

Yeah but at least the belts won't remain stagnant and undefended for however many weeks/months..

That was so bad of them to put the titles on the Briscoes when Mark was about to go out for surgery. And having Jay allowed to just PICK someone to defend with him is lame. It's all very poorly done, imo.
