New England Championship Wrestling proudly presents one of its biggest events of the year, the 5th Annual IRON 8 Championship Tournament, Saturday night, May 31 at the National Guard Armory, 1000 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA. Bell time is 7:00 PM.
The IRON 8 is the most unique tournament in pro wrestling. Described as "the ultimate test of skill, stamina and strategy," it presents eight great athletes with an unusual challenge. It begins with the 8 selected wrestlers competing in an opening round consisting of four singles matches. The winners then face each other in a 4 way, 45 minute iron man match. Whoever scores the most pinfalls or submissions in 45 minutes wins the match and is that year's IRON 8 Champion. It is an athletic test unlike any other, and the victor truly proves he is an iron man.
The 8 participants are:
"Die Hard" Eddie Edwards, who won the last two tournaments, was automatically entered and declared the first seed.
Gran Akuma, representing Chikara Pro Wrestling
"The Japanese Nightmare" Kahagus currently based in Florida
Last year's finalist, and former NECW Television Champion, "The Real Deal" Brandon Locke
Team Cairo member, Scott Osbourne
Former NECW Tag Team Champion, former WWE star and current top contender for the NECW Triple Crown Championship, Antonio "The Promise" Thomas
Former NECW Television Champion and 3 time former NECW Tag Team Champion, "The Exotic" Kristian Frost
Former ECW star, a former TNA star and a man who has worked for just about every major American promotion at some point in his career, Julio Dinero
In the coming weeks, we will be posting updated profiles on all of the IRON 8 contestants, as well as one additional match.
Tickets for the 5th Annual IRON 8 Championship are now on sale at all FYE locations and at K.C.'s Sportscards, 33 Temple Street in Quincy Center, and are available online at www.NECWwrestling.com |

i saw julio dinero for the first time at NEW on Saturday, and was pretty impressed. He's got great heel "charisma" and he's a good worker too.
i'll look forward to seeing him in the Iron 8. |

| Is he still doing the pseudo goth gimmick like he was doing in TNA as Raven's flunkie? |
Its, weird. Sometimes, he wears the black vinyl shorts with all the D rings on it, but, he will pretend he is a rocker and play air guitar.
Other times, he does this "money" gimmick, where, hes all about the money, and wears trunks with money signs on them.
So, i really dont know what either gimmick really is. Miss Michelle is a added bonus. |

Chris Venom should be in the Iron 8. Scott Osbourne cheated to get his spot. |

They say Variety is the spice of life, or some such nonsense. What I like bout the Iron 8 is the different talents, not just the "obvious" ones u may expect.
That said tho, Im going to predict that one of the regular New England talents, Antonio Thomas, will win. That said, I look forward to the Brackets, and hope to make the tournament to see some friends, have a good night and Wish Mr Jas a slightly early Happy Birthday. |

I am quite excited for this year's Iron 8 event. I sincerely think it is one of, if not THE, most talented field of contenders in the 5-year history of the event. I am proud to have been very involved in the selection process for this year and have high expectations for the event as a result of this amazing talent pool.
Quick footnote about Julio Dinero. He was the first "non-New England Indy Talent" I ever really worked back in my first years in the business. It was in early 1996 (I believe) in Southern CT for Ed Zohn's IPW. Dinero was working then as Julio Sanchez and Sheik Ali Amin. In the guise of Amin, Julio did his best with the match... despite me being the drizzlings... LOL. |
LOL I was at that show! That was the 1st time I ever saw Julio iirc. |
