A COMPLETE orton rip off

His finish is even called the TTS for "Time to Shine" which is either the name of Orton's theme or a line from it

Wow, you guys really don't like ACW huh? I've seen and worked for much much worse.....in this fucking area.

This is what I saw when I worked there:

A packed house
Vets like Ashworth and Baker helping out younger guys
Young guys like Eric Dillon that I feel have so much talent
A booker and an owner that actually watch the shows and care about the product being put forth.

Did I mention that they draw more than most feds in this area and they don't even bring in a name? So the kid is an Orton mark, so what. I'm a Jimmy Valiant, Chris Candido, Andy Kaufman, Oliver Humperdink, Iron Sheik, Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, Jackie Fargo, Colt Cabana, Eric Priest, and Jim Cornette mark.

Fuck it

True but getting tattoos + copying gimmick + move set = ridiculous

At least he doesn't call himself Ronnie Morton

In all seriousness who cares. This guy isn't taking any money from Orton, nor is he claiming to be him. I don't even think I remember this kid, but if the argument comes down to tats and moves, then that is an uphill battle for your argument

He's not.

Let me explain something......I don't know Nero personally, but I know everyone says he copies Randy. So what...The kid is still learning, and someday I'm sure he will get away from that stigma.

When I first started, I wore face paint and shaved my head except for 2 strips on each side of my head, yup, I was a Hawk from the Road Warriors fan. I tried copying him, as well as copying others. Maybe it's a rookie mistake, but I learned alot, and had some great people like Steve Bradley, Savana Sousa and Sonny Goodspeed open my eyes and smarten me up to what I should be doing.

Many wrestlers get into wrestling because they had a favorite growing up. You didn't have anyone riding Benoit because he wanted to be like The Dynamite Kid. I know, I know, it's different etc...

But give these new guys a chance, a chance to learn, experiment and grow into their own personas.

Yeah it may be funny to say Nero stands for "Not Ever Randy Orton" but seriously, the kid works hard, he's improved immensely in the last year or so that I have seen him wrestle, and I'm confident to say, Nero will have the last laugh in the near future.

iknowall, I understand that's how you feel, but I just wanted to give a little explaination to what some wrestlers go through and why they do certain things, especially within their first few years in the business.

Peace,
Dave "Never Could Wrestle Like Hawk" Padula

Never could wrestle like Hawk. That's a compliment if you ask me.

The Road Warriors were the worst greatest team of all time

From my limited experience with him and from guys whose opinions I respect, Nero is a good kid. When he gets more time in the ring under his belt he will do less emulation and more creation of his own identity. When I attended an ACW show, Nero asked me after if I watched his match and what he should work on. When I was telling him, he gave me his undivided attention and was very appreciative. Those are signs of a kid who is trying to learn and improve.

As for the Randy Orton Ripoff... As Hawk, uh, Dave Padula was saying, in our early days of NEWA Kyle & I tried to be the Steiner brothers, lol, complete with me wearing headgear and barking... ohhh the humanity...

plus.. do any of you faithful New Bedford-ites or Fall River fans remember the biggest ripoff of them all... "FLASH"?!?!?

I worked for Jeff "Lobsterman" Costa & we hade such greats as "STING!ray", KEVIN NASHua, Scott HOLLis, if memory serves me correctly, we even had a guy dressed kindof like Kane. Matt Spectro can answer that oneBig Daddy Dave Walker & I did a "freebirds" thing that was nothing like the "Freebirds" except fot the name.

Oh yeah & for Joey Eastman.................>>>FUCK THE ROAD WARRIORS!

LMAO!!! My memory of Flash was at an outdoor show...He was a babyface and some 9 year old kid threw a hotdog at him and hit him. He stopped the match and yelled for the police to arrest the kid lol

Not to derail this thread, but man do I need to derail this thread.

To Dave or to Matt, kayfabe be damned-- Who was Rex Havoc?!?!!?

And why did he wear the mask!?!?!?!

BTW to contribute my favorite rip off/non rip off would have been Pierre The Mountie. Who would have EVER thought someone wanted to be Jaques Rogeau.

Let's not forget The People's Rock, The Hillbillies, The Boston Bulldogs. I am sure there are tons others im forgetting. Ah some of the most comedicshows that Costa put on. It was always a good time though.

Sonny & Mav, you forgot "El Mysterio" for Amado as well as Slammy the Clown. And don't forget the American Warrior and my favorite poster of all time "Chief J. Strongbow" for Jules Strongbow.

If I may make a clarification, the guys who worked for Jeff had the gimmick "enthusiastically suggested" to them by Costa. Costa was so good at doing that, most of them went along with it.

I don't know the Nero kid and I've been told he's a good guy. But he has tatoos like Orton and does a lot of the same moves, including the back cracker move and RKO. I have a feeling he really thinks Randy Orton is the bee's knees.

Hopefully, he'll evolve and become something else, but that tatoo's going to be tough to remove.

Rex was a very well-known criminal lawyer in RI and wanted to keep his identity hidden for professional reasons. He was a GREAT talker and a heck of a good guy.

Well, like Fox news, in the interest of keeping it fair and balanced...

One time after some show in Pawcatuck, CT, a bunch of us went out to this awesome Japanese restaurant. And Nero and his other 2 buddies came along too. Except, they were really snobby and dick-ish about it. It was a little less than 2 years ago maybe so I don't remember the details, just that was what we concluded. Really uncool. My desire to associate with Nero is Zero.

lol I popped for that one. Rex was one of the guys that made those shows back in the day something to look forward to. he was great out at the ring, and even a better person to have in the lockerroom. Now this brings back memories of the Maniac Cops!! I actually see one of them often now in my town.

Gee!! Piere the Mountie!!!! I wrestled that guy God knows how many times, and each time, was fun. Getting him to say "Sasparilla" was even more fun lol Ok, maybe only Matt and few others will get that. My best memory of him was wrestling him at the West Warwick high school. He had Captain Lou Albano in his corner, and within first 3 mins of the match, he did a plancha onto the outside on me, and ended up knocking himself out.........me and Captain kept the crowd entertained until Piere came through about 11 minutes later to not only finish the match, but also beat me for the NEWA continental title.
Peace,
Dave

Or when he was rooting for Mark McGuire so he wouldn't have to say that SAMMY SOSA was the home run king.

I think Pierre getting knocked out on that plancha was my favorite thing he EVER did in a match ever!
