Instead of starting up my own thread about the results, which are from the same state that I just happen to reside in, I will post them here.

awsome kong over odb
samoe joe over tomko
Announced changes: None
Refunds offered: None
attendance about 750 peeps, tough to get a good count as people were spread all over the building, but the ringside expensive seats had by far the most people.
Notes: Quck show, started at 8 and the main event ended 10:10, they did a nice thing after the main event, bringing out most of the faces and having them sign autogrpahs and take pictures at ringside for free. they also had Kurt Angle in the ring taking poloriods for 20 bucks...the Main event went a whole 9 minutes bell to bell, and was the safest lightest match i have ever seen samoa joe work in my life. Kurt Angle did a quick promo and accidently called Binghamton "birmingham or birmington" or something like that. the crowd as into the whole show, and the jeremy borash bit about the loudest fans get to go backstage, really worked here as it kept the crowd screaming all night. Every match was kept short. with no stalling or very little stalling.
Best match: the opening 3 way
worst Match:nothing was bad
biggest pops:
1. kurt angle
2. somoa joe
3. team 3-D |

TNA Mid-Hudson Civic Center, Poughkeepsie 5/17/08
By Phil Strum
http://pojoslam.blogspot.com
I'm doing these totally from memory, so if something is either out of order or inaccurate, let me know.
I'd say there were about 700-800 people in attendance at the show, if I had to give a ballpark figure.
1. TNA World Tag Team Champions LAX defeated Team 3D when Homicide pinned Brother Devon following a frog splash. Solidly worked opener. Bubba mentioned that he and Devon worked the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in ECW, WWE and TNA to a big pop. Then he turned himself by mentioning at all three stops, the fans of Poughkeepsie sucked. I thought this was a really good choice for an opening match because it kept the crowd interested.
2. Alex Shelley pinned Consequences Creed in a match that was billed as an X Division contenders match after Sliced Bread #2. Good fast-paced stuff here. Shelley seemed to be the crowd favorite here with a couple of chants throughout. There were some highspots interspersed in. The wrestlers shook hands before and after the contest. This match was originally billed as Petey Williams defending the X Division title, but Williams did not appear, and Johnny Devine switched matches.
3. Awesome Kong & Jacqueline defeated Traci Brooks & ODB when Kong pinned ODB after the sitout Awesome bomb. The crowd rally knew Kong and even chanted for her at times. ODB always seems to be a favorite. Then again, so is Traci Brooks. Brooks seemed to have some fun after reviving ODB with the flask. No lulls in this one really.
4. Matt Morgan defeated Johnny Devine after the F5. Devine came out and complained about Poughkeepsie calling us "slack-jawed troglodytes" at one point. Devine complained about not being one of the four men chosen by Jim Cornette on Impact, so he had something to prove. He was subsequently crushed by the enormous Morgan pretty quickly. Morgan was originally facing Tomko and then Kip James on the various lineups that came out for this show. The card is always subject to change.
5. Rhino pinned Cowboy James Storm after a gore. Storm did a heel bit where he and Jacqueline did a prayer, basically asking God to have mercy on these awful people in Poughkeepsie, or at least that's what I think I heard. The crowd was solidly behind Rhino from the 30-year-old building's history with ECW. These two work very well together and had a very nice match. They brawled a little on the floor too.
INTERMISSION
Kurt Angle came out after intermission and said he came to TNA to do to things; 1. be the best wrestler in the world and 2. kick WWE's ass. He said he was happy to come to Poughkeepsie, apologized for being injured and said the next time he was in Poughkeepsie, he would be challenging for the TNA World Title.
Jeremy Borash did his in-ring TNA Today segment for the website. I must say, Borash is a very good emcee at live events. He really gets the audience going.
6. Showtime Eric Young (as Super Eric) pinned Rellik (killeR spelled backwards, you know) after a flying elbow. With Rellik winning the match, E.Y. went under the ring and changed into the Super Eric getup and turned the tide. This went over very well live. Eric Young really knows how to work an audience. At the beginning of the match, a fan yelled out "Hey, there's Super Eric!" and Young said "where?" and started looking at the ceiling.
7. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe pinned Tomko after a muscle buster. Pretty good reception for both men. This was originally supposed to be Joe vs. Tomko. Joe got his topé in, as well as the facewash and the kicks and kneedrop. I enjoyed the match. Joe is a legitimately talented guy and I've always found Tomko to be terribly underrated as a talent.
Overall, a fun live event. I felt bad that more people didn't go, but it is their first foray into the market. Hopefully, they come back and are not deterred by the small crowd. They did the usual autograph signing with photo ops and Angle in the ring for twenty bucks. The talent was very accomodating and I saw no one rejected myself. |

So, the good doctor just got back from the show, and overall his feelings of the whole thing was pretty poor. The setup was really weird, although not bad. The ring was setup on the floor in front of the stage, and wrestlers entered from the stage area where barricades and seats were also set up. The show itself was extremely short as well, lasting barely 90 minutes, including a 20 minute intermission. The crowd wasn't terribly large, maybe 500 tops, and while they were hot for Jeremy Borash's pre-scripted nonsense, they seemed to quiet down almost immediately after the entrances. The section I was in in the back seemed more interested in amusing themselves then cheering on the matches.
The Matches:
Alex Shelley def Consequences Creed. Shelly wasn't bad, but creed was really sloppy. This wasn't a bad match, but no one really seemed to care, and it really looked pretty amateurish looking.
Matt Morgan def Johnny Devine. Devine came out and cut a promo running down the crowd and calling out someone from the back. Morgan came out and squashed Devine in les than 5 minutes.
Erik Young def. Relic. Lots of stalling and comedy spots here. Again mostly another squash for Relic until Erik Young went under the ring and put the mask on doing the superhero gimmick. The crowd wasn't really into this so much.
LAX def. Team 3-D. Not sure what the hell happened here, The Not Dudleys came out and cut a promo running down the crowd. Match begins, and Bubba Ray runs backstage about 5 minutes in, with no explanation why. Homicide and D-Von stall with rest holds for about 5 minutes before Homicide makes the tag and the go to a really quick finish. This debacle almost put the crowd to sleep.
20 minute intermission
Kurt Angle came out after intermission and did a stand up routine. He told some really funny jokes about TNA being successful and how they're going to overtake WWE as the #1 wrestling company.
Awesome Kong def. ODB. The third complete squash match of the night, ODB got like one or two moves in on offense, but was just annihilated by Awesome Kong.
Rhyno and Traci Brooks def. James Storm. This was a good match, lots of back and fourth action, and the crowd was really into it. Match seemed rushed however.
Main Event: Samoa Joe def. Tomko. This was probably the best match on the show, but was way too short. Joe won with his submission finish.
After the show, a few of the guys came out and signed autographs which was nice. Angle signed in the ring for 20 bucks, but Morgan, LAX, Rhyno, Traci Brooks, Consequences Creed, and ODB all signed for free.
Overall it was a pretty poor show, clearly pointing out all the glaring flaws this company currently has. They DESPERATELY need to come up with something, because with their television ratings in the toilet the way they are, they may not be long for television.
The production seemed good, but the in ring work was on par with maybe a C-Level indy promotion like DPW, and not even close to what you see in even NEW. If I paid 120 bucks for those front row seats I would have been pissed. The show was way too short, the matches were all rushed, Jeremy Borash was on the mic constantly in hyper shill mode, and it was just a bad show overall. I think it's going ot be a very long time before TNA comes back anywhere near WWE Country.
I'd love to know what anyone else who attended thought though. |

TNA X DIVISION TITLE MATCH
“The Guru ” Sonjay Dutt Vs “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal Vs “Little Petey Pump” Petey Williams
Good to see them come out all guns blazing to begin things, the crowd was heavily in to Jay Lethal with plenty of “Black Machismo” chants and at one point a “Sonjay Swallows” chant. The end came with Williams hitting a Candian Destroyer on to Jay Lethal. As each wrestler exited they played their theme music which I thought was a nice touch, again the crowd totally loved Jay Lethal.
MIXED TAG TEAM MATCH
Awesome Kong & “Cowboy” James Storm Vs Gail Kim & “The Anarchist” Doug Williams
Another really good match, Storm got on the mic before the match and started with the cheap heel heat. Plenty of mixed spots, Gail Kim was WAY over with the crowd and Doug Williams got a nice response too from those that knew him. James Storm got a “Brokeback Mountain” chant which was fun, if somewhat incredibly offensive! Forget how the finish came but Storm and Kong went over, Storm hitting Williams with something (may have been the beer bottle, apologies for my memory!) whilst the ref was distracted by Kim and Kong on the outside.
After the match JB got on the mic and announced that Doug Williams has signed a contract with TNA and WILL be appearing at the TNA X World Cup in a few weeks time.
Rhino then came out and said how it was great to be back in Liverpool, how he had no challenge for tonight and issued an open challenge to anyone in the back. This started…
“The War Machine” Rhino Vs “The Monster” Abyss
The crowd went crazy for Abyss and I’d say there was a 65/35 split in favour of Rhino (who got quite a few ECW chants). Good solid big man match with each man taking turns in dominating. Abyss hit the Black Hole Slam for the win.
Robert “Don’t Call Me Bobby” Roode Vs “The Prince Of Phenomenal” AJ Styles
It speaks volumes about the crowd that they were still crazy for the in ring action with chants still going wild. Not that they wanted to get backstage…Anyway it started off slow and mostly saw Roode in control with AJ hitting a few highspots here and there before finishing things off with the Styles Clash.
INTERMISSION
After the break JB was in the ring and introduced Kurt Angle. The whole roof of the Olympia came off at this point and Angle seemed genuinely overwhelmed by the response. He said about not being able to wrestle but how great TNA was (which got some “F*** McMahon” chants), putting over the product, the other wrestlers, Bravo (the TV station TNA airs on here) and so on. Everyone started a “Thank You Angle” chant which caused Kurt to stop for a minute and then say “You’re all acting like I’m retiring!” He had a huge smile at this point, thanked the fans for coming and left to another “Thank You Angle” chant.
TNA TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
LAX Vs Motor City Machine Guns
The crowd was even more split in this match than Abyss/Rhino earlier, it was genuinely 50/50. Hernandez going airborne late in the match to take out MCMG outside the ring got a “HOLY SHIT!” chant going. Throughout the match a lot of abuse was aimed at Earl Hebner (who had been getting “You Screwed Bret” chants all night) including a well known football (or “soccer” if you really have to) chant aimed at him, “The referee’s a wanker!” Hernandez was definitely having the time of his life out there. The finish came with LAX hitting the 5150 onto Chris Sabin (I think).
MAIN EVENT: TNA WORLD TITLE MATCH
Booker T Vs Samoa Joe
Booker got on the mic and cut a heel promo on the crowd. Joe got probably the second biggest reaction all night (I’d say biggest but Angle’s pop lasted a lot longer). The match was a great brawl with them taking the fighting into the crowd at one point, it had everyone on their feet which is always a good sign! Booker teased a Spin-a-roonie but flipped off the crowd instead. The finish came with Booker trying to roll up Joe and getting locked in the Coquina Clutch.
Post match Joe got on the microphone which got a “Welcome Back” chant from the crowd (given Joe’s last ROH match was in that building). He put over the crowd, the city, TNA, etc. JB then got on the microphone and said with it being the first time TNA was in the UK they wanted to do something special, and seeing as they couldn’t take everyone backstage, they were going to bring backstage out! Queue an impromptu meet & greet autograph session around the ring and building with LAX, MCMG, Earl Hebner, Scott D’Amore, Abyss, Robert Roode, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, James Storm and Doug Williams.
Overall it was a great night even before the meet & greet which took a lot of us by surprise. TNA really know how to treat first time fans and match quality it was a lot better too. The only gripe would be (as with WWE) the pricing of the merchandise but once again it was the best wrestling event I’ve ever been too. Quick shout out to the dudes who chanted for my bWo t-shirt and said “We’re Taking OVER!”.

TNA House Show Results - 6/14/08
Location: Coventry, England
Matty sent this report in:
Results from the TNA house show in Coventry, England. The Skydome was sold out. I'm guessing 3,500 to 4,000 people attended, not too sure of the official Skydome capacity.
Motorcity Machine Guns pinned Robert Roode and James Storm. The Machine Guns were well over with the crowd.
Earl Hebner was introduced as the official for the next match, some 'You screwed Bret' chants broke out while he made his way to the ring.
Awesome Kong retained the TNA Woman's championship against Gail Kim. A solid match for them, but not much of note happened.
Abyss defeated Rhino. Abyss had some heat from the crowd, which I think took him slightly by surprise considering his comeback at Slammiversary.
AJ Styles beat Doug Williams & Jay Lethal in a 3 way match, afterwards, Styles got up then raised Lethal and Williams up and the 3 posed together in the ring.
Intermission
Borash came out and did the TNA Today segment, during which he brought Dixie Carter out. A 'thank you Dixie' chant broke out during this. He promoted TNA coming back to the UK in January, and hyped up the possibility of a TNA PPV taking place in the UK.
LAX defeated Sonjay Dutt & Petey Williams. A 'Mrs. Steiner' chant broke out during the match. The finish happened when Homicide tossed Petey Williams to the outside, then took him out with a dive which took them onto the entrance way, in the ring Hernandez hit the border toss on Sonjay for the win.
Kurt Angle came out for a promo, he told the crowd that 'Vince can kiss my ass' and talked briefly about coming to TNA and talked up Jeff Jarrett for his vision which resulted in TNA. He said the roster had dedicated the UK tour to Jeff. A lot of 'thank you Jeff' chants during this. Kurt went on to mention Jill Jarrett, this brought a couple of moments of applause from the crowd, in the end, Kurt said "well I might as well bring him out now" and Jeff Jarrett came down to the ring. He got a massive reception from the crowd. He said when he started TNA, he wanted to get young guys that would move up the ladder in TNA, then mentioned Samoa Joe & AJ Styles as some of these superstars. Jeff said when he looked at the other promotions, the only person he wanted in TNA was Kurt Angle.
Samoa Joe defeated Booker for the TNA World Heavyweight title. Booker was funny on the mic, firstly he paid tribute to the UK fans for putting TNA on the map, and then telling people to get all the TNA stuff they can buy. He said people knew his situation, that he was the most decorated superstar on the roster and he kept a clean locker room! He put over he was going to beat Joe for the title tonight. A solid match. Joe was well over with the crowd. He hit the rear naked choke to end it after about 25 minutes.
Overall a great solid showing from the TNA guys.
Andrew Pearsell sent this report in:
Just got back from the live show in coventry, and i have to say it was absolutely fantastic, much much better than any WWE show i've seen, the wrestlers seem so much more commited and happy to be there, i even went to the fan acces in the day, and they were all happy and talkative. The crowd was fantastic, there was no end to the noise. There were screens on the entrance stage too, with the entrance videos and the in ring action
JB was host for the evening
Roode & Storm vs MMG
Brilliant match to start the show, mmg were on fire, and storm and roode were classic heels, a really good match, mmg got the win
Womens title, kong vs Gail Kim
Another good match, kim kept trying to knock her down, really well worked, kong of course got the win after an implant buster
Abyss vs rhino
It was a good match, but it certainly wasnt the best on the card, and abyss was wearing his new attire he had at slammiversary, who eventually got the pin with the back hole slam
AJ Styles vs Jay Lethal vs Doug Williams
This was the best match ive ever seen live. Great x division stuff, and a great finish . Williams rolled up lethal, the turned it into a german suplex with bridge, then as he went for the pin, styles turned the pin into a styles clash, and got the win
Then there was an intermission
Tag team Championships
LAX vs Petey Williams and Sonjay Dutt
Really good, (LAX) eventually winning with a border toss
Angle then came out to thank everybody, and then introduced a special someone.. Jeff Jarrett! the crowd erupted, and he gave an emotional speach thanking all the fans and the wrestlers for everything
TNA heavyweight title
Joe vs Booker
Booker cut a promo getting the crowd going against him, joe came out to a great ovation, another really good match, Joe evetually got booker to tap out to the clutch
Not many boo's on the night, crowd was into pretty much everyone
Biggest pops
1. Jeff Jarrett
2. Kurt Angle
3. AJ Styles
4. Samoa Joe
5. LAX
Biggest Heat:
1. Booker T
2. Sonjay Dutt
and that was pretty much it
Fantastic Day all round
Scott Hollis sent this report in:
This is a quick recap of what went down
Jeremy Borash was introduced as the host of the evening to a big pop. He announced that there was going to be several backstage passes given out to the loudest TNA fans in attendance. I didn't get one
The first bout was The Motor City Machine Guns vs James Storm and Robert Roode. The Guns came out to a bigger pop than JB while Storm and Roode got some major heat. Motor City Machine Guns defeated Roode and Storm with the ASCS Rush for the 1, 2, 3.
JB introduced Earl Hebner who came out to some major heat.
Next up was Awesome Kong defending the TNA Knockouts Championship against Gail Kim. Kong got some heat from the crowd while Gail Kim got a pop. Kong won with the Implant Buster to get the pin.
JB reminded us about the backstage passes again just before he introduced the next match "Battle of the Giants" Abyss vs Rhino. Surprisingly,Abyss was heel for this match.
JB then talked about the TNA iMPACT! video game which was really being pushed that night. He then introduced the next match "The Anarchist" Doug Williams vs "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles (He came out with his old entrance and music, alot of people were singing along to his theme) This was a good spot match and my personal favourite of the night. AJ Styles won by hitting the Styles Clash on Doug Williams. This was the last match before intermission.
We came back from intermission with Jeremy Borash filming an episode of TNA Today with Dixie Carter coming out and announcing they will be coming back to the UK in January.
Next up was a TNA Tag Team Championship match with LAX (huge pop) defending against X Division Champion Petey Williams and "The Guru" Sonjay Dutt. LAX was very over with the crowd. Hernandez won the match for his team with the Border Toss for the 1, 2, 3.
JB now introduced Kurt Angle who cut a promo about how Vince McMahon can kiss his ass. (Many "What?" chants during the first part of his promo. He then talked about how many memories he had of the UK, then he started to talk about Jeff and Jill Jarrett built TNA to what it is today before introducing... JEFF JARRETT!!!! He got a huge pop that was inferior only to the one AJ Styles got. He said he had 2 groups of people to thank: the fans, and the roster (specifically AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle). There were many "Thank you Jeff" and "Thank you Jill" chants during this promo.
When they left, JB announced the main event Samoa Joe defending the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Booker T. Booker T came out to a mixed reaction and cut ashort promo before the match about how he got screwed out of the KOTM at Slammiversary and he is going to beat Joe for the title. Samoa Joe got a big pop. During the match he hit not 1 but 2 Ole Kicks with the crowd doing the proper chants from the RoH days. Joe won with a Koquina Clutch to force Booker to tap out.
Overall an enjoyable house show. My match of the night was Doug Williams vs Jay Lethal vs AJ Styles. Some great spots in that match, could have lasted a bit longer though.
Biggest Pops -
AJ Styles
Jeff Jarrett
Samoa Joe
LAX
Kurt Angle
Most Heat -
Earl Hebner
Robert Roode
James Storm
Abyss
Booker T

Jeremy Borash hosted and announced the show. He pumped up the crowd throughout the evening with the usual introduce the local DJ, pulling fans to go backstage, hyping that footage would be on Impact, etc.
1st Match: Curry Man vs. Johnny Devine
Nice, fast-paced match to get the crowd going. Curry Man gets the win with the Spice Rack. Afterwards, Curry carried a kid wearing a Curry Man t-shirt around ringside.
2nd Match: The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) vs. Traci Brooks and Roxxi Laveaux
Traci and Roxxi get the win after Roxxi hits the Voodoo Drop on Angelina. Afterwards, the Beautiful People lay out Traci and Roxxi and attempt to shave Traci's hair. ODB runs in for the save. In a funny moment, ODB offers her flask to both Roxxi and Traci who each spit it out (Traci accidentally on ODB's chest) before Roxxi downs the flask herself.
3rd Match: Kip James vs. "Showtime" Eric Young
In a case of epic stalling, I was taking a bathroom break after introductions and was able to return before they finally tied up. Kip was mostly in control until he knocked Eric out of the ring. Eric went underneath the ring and, surprise surprise, Super Eric appeared moments later. Super Eric wins with the Death Valley Driver.
4th Match: Robert Roode vs. The Phenomenal AJ Styles
A fairly decent back-and-forth match, on par with typical AJ matches. AJ wins after flipping out of a roll-up into the Styles Clash.
5th Match: Three way for the X-Division Title: X-Division Champion "Maple Leaf Muscle" Petey Williams vs. Kaz vs. Consequences Creed
The lively crowd was surprisingly quiet for this one. I guess Kaz isn't that over yet, Creed is too new (and is constantly losing), and Petey was the default fan-favorite because of his unique offense in the match. Petey was wrestling with a facemask. Petey wins with the Canadian Destroyer on Creed (good thing Petey is Canadian and not Russian considering Creed came out to James Brown's "Living in America.")
6th Match: "Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm (with "The Pride of Tennesee" Jacqueline) vs. Shark Boy
During his entrance, Storm knocked an Icee out of a kid's hand which Shark Boy would end up slipping later while chasing Jacqueline. He was also the first wrestler to speak to the crowd saying that he loved fast cars, hot women, and cold beer, and Bloomington had none of them. Also, he could beat anybody in the building in fighting, drinking, and "Gueetar Hero on the X-Box." Shark Boy said that he was a Playstation person, and that Jacqueline could be found working the corner of Market and Main in her outfit. Storm wins after spitting beer in Sharkie's face and hitting the Last Call superkick. Afterwards, Storm left and Jacqueline started berating and slapping Shark Boy, receiving a Chunner for her troubles. SB celebrated with a clam juice bash with the crowd. Storm came back to check on Jacqueline, but then left her laying.
7th Match: TNA World Title Match: TNA Champion Samoa Joe vs "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner (with Petey Williams)
Steiner said that he at first thought that he was going to wrestle in Bloomington, Indiana, but he had to wrestle in the cesspool of Bloomington, Illinois (strangely, "cesspool" got a pop. Gotta love wrestling fans). He knew that he was the best athlete in town since he came from a "real" university, the University of Michigan (Bloomington-Normal is the home of Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University).
The match saw plenty of interference from Petey including Steiner hitting Joe with Petey's chainmail hood while the ref was distracted. The ending saw Petey knock out the ref which led to a double team on Joe. Petey attempted a Canadian Destroyer while Steiner was sitting on the top rope, but Joe shoved him into Steiner leading into the Muscle Buster for the win.
We were promised a special surprise in exchange for Kurt Angle missing the show due to injury. The "surprise" was that fans would be able to sign autographs and take pictures with TNA wrestlers at ringside (hardly a surprise, but it still is a great gesture that they provide all their fans).
Notes
-Booker T, Sonjay Dutt, Black Reign, and The Rock N' Rave Infection were announced on the TNA website but did not appear.
-The U.S. Cellular Coliseum was half curtained off, and only the floor seats were sold out. There were roughly 1500-2000 people who were hungry for wrestling since there are few live shows that run in central Illinois. Jeremy Borash announced that TNA would be back in Bloomington at a later date.
All in all, a solidly entertaining show. This was my first show since I attended an XWF (remember them?) show in Hammond, IN in 2001 and it capped off a wrestling-themed day combined with seeing Get Smart (featuring Dwayne Johnson and The Great Khali).

TNA IN DANVILLE, ILLINOIS LIVE REPORT: SAMOA JOE & AJ STYLES TEAM AGAINST SCOTT STEINER & PETEY WILLIAMS AND MORE
by Tony and Mick Spivey @ 2008-06-22 16:34:54
We attended the TNA show in Danville last night. Front row seats, great experience! My 10-year-old son is helping me with this...the best of our memory, here's what happened:
Consequences Creed vs. Johnny Devine - Good opening match, both guys got a fair amount of offense and "fan interaction" time. Consequences Creed with the win.
Velvet Sky vs. Roxxi - Both Knockouts were over with the fans. Roxxi was the clear crowd favorite. I like that they are letting her have a little personality now. Not a bad match. Roxxi got the win, but was attacked from behind by Velvet, and got the paper bag. ODB ran in for the save. After Velvet was dispatched, ODB produced the flask and offered Roxxi a swig. She took a drink, and spit it out immediately. Lots of fans passing their beers over the railing, and ODB obliged by swigging them. Man, that girl can drink!
Kaz got beat by Robert Roode, with interference from James Storm
Kip James vs. Eric Young - Young got the first big pop of the night (other than JB saying we were ready to go). Kip got some serious crowd heat from a guy in our section. "Bullet Bob owned you man!". LOL! The match was all Kip until the crowd yelld for Super Eric. Young went beneath the ring, Super Eric's music hit, and he came out as Super Eric. Obviously, he won. Super Eric was really over.
Shark Boy made a brief appearance with a comedy bit. He came out to question why he was not in a match. He asked for the "matchmaker" to come out. A TNA employee came out, and Shark Boy grilled him in classic Stone Cold rapid-fire style, complete with the crowd providing the "What?" chant. "No memo...no e-mail...no voice mail...no smoke signals". Ended with Shark Boy giving the "matchmaker" the Chummer. I know not everybody is into his gimmick, but if the crowd response is like this everywhere, he is really, really over.
James Storm/Jacqueline vs. Curry Man/Traci Brooks - The Cowboy got some serious heat with pretty much the same speech he gave in Bloomington. Line of the night: "You know the toothbrush was invented in Illinois, because it's not called a TEETHbrush!". Lots of dancing from Brooks/Curry Man, which was okay by me! Traci is much prettier in person, almost overwhelmingly so. The match was good back-and-forth, each side getting a chance to shine. After lots of 2 against 1, and Storm beating on Traci for a while, Curry Man and Brooks get the win. Cool moment: Curry Man brought a kid up from the front row. The kid had a "Fallen Angel" shirt on. He got to dance to the Curry Man music, and was presented with a Curry Man shirt. Curry Man pointed to the Fallen Angel logo, and acted as if he had never heard of him.
JB said he had a special surprise...a tag-team first. Scott Steiner and Petey Williams vs. AJ Styles and...Samoa Joe! This was a killer main event. AJ and Petey did a great bit where they each were coming off the ropes, ducking each others punches, and ended up both ducking at the same time, then turning and kicking at the same time, with each grabbing the other's foot. They negotiated a "at the same time" deal, where they each eased the other's foot back to the floor. Fun comedy bit in the middle of a lot of action. AJ is amazing to watch live. He makes it look effortless. The Pele kick live is incredible. Steiner was in classic "SHUT UP FAT BOY!" heel mode with the crowd. No one does it better. AJ and Samoa Joe with the win, with a simultaneous Styles Clash and Coquina Clutch.
As in Bloomington, JB brought everyone out for autographs and pictures (except Steiner/Petey and Storm/Jacqueline). You could get your pic taken with Joe and AJ in the ring for $20. The wrestlers made sure everyone got an autograph and took hundreds of pictures. Got a nice shot of my son with Eric Young, and myself with ODB.
If you get a chance to catch TNA live, do it. The price for front row tickets was worth every penny. The matches are made to entertain, and the fan interaction is a nice thank-you for laying out some hard earned cash. |

TNA IN CINCINNATI, OHIO LIVE REPORT: SAMOA JOE VS. AJ STYLES, FORMER WWE STAR APPEARS AND MORE
by Joey Brighton @ 2008-06-23 08:54:15
I attended last night's TNA debut at the Cincinnati Gardens. No idea on crowd, but the venue was about half-full, so I'd guess 1,500-2,500, but I'm not good with the estimations. Quick results from a show I thought was really great.
*Consequences pinned Johnny Devine. Good opener.
*Roxxi & Traci Brooks defeated The Beautiful People. ODB hit the ring to save the babyface Knockouts from a post-match beatdown. ODB is well known in these parts from OVW (which airs here), so she got a nice pop.
*Eric Young defeated Kip James. They did a Killer Bees deal where Young went under the ring and Super Eric emerged. Kip James tried to bully Earl Hebner after the match because the Erics are two different people and got a crotch chop for his troubles. 1997 called. Go back there, Kip.
*Abyss & Kaz defeated Scott Steiner & Petey Williams when Abyss nailed Williams with the Black Hole Slam. This was really good.
*They did a comedy deal where James Storm was carried out on a stretcher (that's a first) and claimed he couldn't wrestle due to a leg injury that spread to his neck. It was way funnier than I am making it sound, I am sure. Shark Boy, who is from the area and got a monster reaction, came out and did the Steve Austin deal and hit a bunch of stunners on Storm and a local radio DJ who they tried to make a heel by saying he put WWE over TNA on the air. I don't know if this would have worked anywhere else as well as it did here, but it was fun.
*Curry Man pinned Robert Roode with the Spice Rack after they did the Sabu lights out deal and Al Snow saved the day. No one saw that one coming, so another great moment.
*TNA champ Samoa Joe pinned AJ Styles with a Muscle Buster. I've seen these two wrestle a lot on PPV and old ROH DVDs and this was just as good live. Just a great way to end | | | | | |
