ROH Debut @ The Manhattan Center's Hammerstein Ballroom

1) FIP World Heavyweight Championship: Roderick Strong defeats Go Shiozaki & Erick Stevens to retain the FIP World Championship. Strong pinned Erick Stevens. "Great opener" (Note: Possibly better than Collyer & Stryker from Expect The Unexpected)

2) Tag Team Challenge Match: Kevin Steen & El Generico defeat Rocky Romero & Davey Richards. Steenerico wins with the Piledriver/Brainbuster combination as Generico pins Davey Richards.

3) Tag Team Scramble: Delirious & Pelle defeat Hero & Albright and Evans & Jigsaw. Delirious pins Chris Hero.

- Brent ALBRIGHT quits Sweet & Sour, Inc. ALBRIGHT destroys all members and leaves! Huge ovation for Mr. ALBRIGHT!

- Attendence near 2,000.

- ROH Returns to the Manhattan Center's Hammerstein Ballroom on August 2, 2008 w/ MURDER CITY MACHINE GUNS!

4) NOAH vs ROH Rematch: Bryan Danielson defeats Naomichi Marufuji via Arms Across America.

-INTERMISSION-

- Daizee Haze & Delirious in ring segment. Delirious, dressed up, asks Daizee Haze on a date. Rhett Titus comes out and "cockblocks Delirious". Said to be hilarious live.

5) Mike Adamle Special: The Takeshi Morishima defeats The Necro Butcher. Necro was "way over," but "the match didn't click" - JSWO

6) ROH Tag Team Championships (No DQ): Jay Briscoe & Austin Aries retain the ROH World Tag Team Championships. Jay pins Tyler after a Mark Briscoe run in.

7) ROH World Championship: Nigel McGuinness defeats Claudio Castagnoli.

real good show. probably less than 75 empty seats, mostly up top. first match is a three way chop fest short but stiff match all three guys looked good but Roddy seemed in control the whole way. real good tag team match next. back and forth action between Steenerico and NRC. scramble was ok.Hero beats up on the smallest guy with some solid roundhouse elbows. Albright seemed in control the whole way pretty much. Evans was on target with his moves. other guys didnt do alot but were solid. Albright causes the loss by hitting his finisher on Hero by accident. Sweeney wants him to make up for it by beating up Dempsey, albright says no and kicks everyones ass. Hagadorn gets thrown out of the ring splash mountain style through a table. Del Ray gets stiffed pretty hard as well. I thought this stable was a circus before, sheesh. Fairplay just adds to it. Dempsey gets the loudest chant /pop of the match. good pop for Albright afterwards though. I wanted to see Albright/Edwards team but i guess it wasnt to be. to me the best match of the night was AD vs. Marufuji, both guys were on, match starts off slow and builds to lots of back and forth submission stuff. Morishima kicks Necro's ass. almost a squash. they went at it on the floor for a few minutes back and forth. once it got in the ring i dont remember Necro getting any offense in. backdrop driver onto a set up chair that Necro brought in wasnt hit as good as i wouldve liked. a second regular one finishes him off. Necro's punches were as soft as ever. tag title match was outside of the ring for like the first 10 minutes. Aries was paired off with Jacobs. it gets in the ring,Jay gets isolated with Aries recovering on the floor. Jay gets railroad spiked in the head ant is bleeding all over the place for the rest of the match. they could put Jay down. Necro comes out to "help" still cant get the win. Mark comes out with his hand/wrist in a cast ,hits the doomsday device and the good guys get the W. the Briscoes leave and Aries gets spared an ass kicking when Jacobs, decides just to threaten AA with future pain instead,AA was prone. seemed that Necro and Black were having a hard time following JJ orders during and after this one. ME time, Nigel works over the left arm/elbow of Claudio. Claudio hits many European uppercuts, avoids a few lariats early. didnt really feel Nigel was in trouble until the back and forth late in the match.Nigel gets out of the second Ricola attempt and gets the submission on Claudio by working on the left arm. cant wait for the MCMG in August. i was saying those guys need to be on east coast shows next time they are in.

The Burning Hammerstein report. 5/10/08

The chopfest in the opener was great. I liked when Roderick ducked to the other side of the circle so he missed his "turn" receiving. And he was the only one smart enough to chop in both directions. Glad the champ retained. Still waiting for a program for Go.

Generico looked off. Steen didn't azucar. Match ended with a normal brainbusta and not a top rope brainbusta. It was mentioned that those only happen in singles matches. I wonder why. MOTN right here baby.

The three way tag- Everything cool happened after. Didn't like the Albright on Del Rey violence, just as I didn't like the Del Rey on Albright violence. SDR now looks like the kind of girl I liked seeing her beat up. It's a shame ROH pays losers like Johnny "I ain't Mister Terrific" Fairplay to come in. They should've dressed Sugarfoot up and said he was that guy from Survivor 2006. Sugarfoot could've done nothing too.

Happy Amdrag beat N. Marufuji with the Cattle mutilation. I'd've thought the former GHC champ would have a reversal for that move. No mask.

Some drunk guy told me the plan. I thought he was excited to see my tBh shirt and was one of you, but he had a plan. The plan is "One Two Donut". That'll weird them out and we can all say we were there when "1,2, donut" started at ROH in New York.

Daizee gets creeped out by the teenaged student. He's got the looks but no moves. Too bad Rhett, tomorrow is another day.

Weakest strikes of the night didn't help Necro in the brawl to stall all. Morishima flew 12,000 miles for this. Hope he got some good frequent flier miles. About 20% of the crowd popped for Necro the other 80% had zero reaction to him. His fans go crazy and think they're the shit. Take some evaluation time.

AOTF borefest 2008 continues. Jacobs needs to go away. His first spike on Jay barely drew any blood, the second got the crimson mask going. The third is the one that opened his veins. I hope he doesn't get an air bubble from the hole Jacobs put in him. The blood wasn't oozing out or pumping out. It was a steady stream draining from his forehead. Jacobs threatened to bore Aries to death.

Zack wiped up blood with what looked like a polyester sportcoat.

Claudio swung Nigel around 20 complete rotations, and managed to drop him perfectly for the hard cam. I don't know how he was able to keep that straight. I described the finish to a buddy and he said I was mistaken. Claudio tapped to the wankerlock.

The ROH staff member watching the door liked the tBH shirt and asked how much it cost. The Hammerstien guy gave me the report name suggestion.

Leopleurodon '08 It will guide our way.

so thats's the London Dungeon Nigel used? donut chant got tiring. I think Marufuji slipped out of the Cattle mutilation once in the match. it was pretty good but i thought itd be a little better. glad you had time to interact with the staff. i walked out of the show area in a long line and ended up cutting a bunch of people at concessions cuz thats where the line ended. too many cheers for Necro for what little he does. in that regard how do the other Sweeney members feel when Dempsey gets more cheers and is more over than the rest combined. nice to see Albright get some love for tossing the garbage around. real good show. nothing great but id recommend the dvd. sucks Edwards didnt get to wrestle.
