And Massachusetts is complete:
What a perfect way to top off those cards. These shows will rule. |

Oh hey, a show happened tonight and all I've heard is that said show ruled the school. Some interesting developments, a huge upset and a shocking return...

CHIKARA presents "Cafe Culture"
May 17, 2008
The Hellertown Star Lanes in Hellertown, PA
QUICK N' DIRTY:
1. The Fabulous Two (Mitch Ryder and Shayne Hawke) [2] def. Create-a-Wrestler and Player Uno [0]
2. Ophidian def. Bobby Dempsey
3. Hallowicked def. Amasis
4. Pelle Primeau def. Icarus
5. Rey de Voladores Eliminator: Helios defeats Lince Dorado, PSYCHO and TJ Cannon.
6. The Order of the Neo-Solar Temple def. El Pantera and The Colony
7. Mike Quackenbush and Shane Storm [1] def Team FIST (Chuck Taylor and Gran Akuma) [0]
8. Claudio Castagnoli def. Jorge "Skayde" Rivera
9. Rey de Voladores Eliminator: Incognito defeats Stupefied, Sonjay Dutt and Turboman
-----
Preshow Notes: Posters on the walls in the lobby for the Kaiju Big Battel next Saturday in Philadelphia, the Young Lions Cup shows next month, and a July 13 return to the New Alhambra. Quack came out at 7:00 to inform the crowd that they're "having the worst day ever" and the doors will be opened as soon as they possibly can. Thankfully, they did let the fans in about two minutes after this. The CHIKARA Season 7, Vol. 2 comic has been released tonight and should be available on the website this coming week. All the fans in attendance received toys taped under their seat.
Louden Noxious came out to the ring with a guitar to launch the show. He is, in fact, our culture vulture for the evening. He performed the Ballad of Hellertown live for those in attendance.
Attendance is around 190.
1. The Fabulous Two (Mitch Ryder and Shayne Hawke) [2] def. Create-a-Wrestler and Player Uno [0] with a spike piledriver on Create-a-Wrestler. The Fabulous Two now have two points.
2. Ophidian def. Bobby Dempsey. Remember that time Earthquake sat on Damien? Not quite the same result tonight, as Ophidian gets the win with the Cobra Clutch.
3. Hallowicked def. Amasis following a Yakuza Kick and a Rydeen Bomb. Really good match as expected.
4. Pelle Primeau def. Icarus. Pelle was well received, no typical anti-ROH student booing that takes place in 2008. Icarus was caught off guard as Pelle won with a quick schoolboy for the pin. After the match, Primeau was invited to compete in the Young Lions Cup tournament.
5. Rey de Voladores Eliminator: Helios defeats Lince Dorado, PSYCHO and TJ Cannon. PSYCHO pinned Cannon with his High Fly Bomb and Lince Dorado pinned PSYCHO soon after. Helios advances to tomorrow night's Rey de Voladores final after a Skies are Falling/Standing SSP moonsault combo.
During intermission, EDDIE KINGSTON came in through the front door. He got in the ring and told the crowd that he's not booked "otherwise I wouldn't have shown up". He said he was there to burst the bubbles of people in the back. Shane Storm came out to ask what Kingston was doing and slapped King across the face. Kingston vs Storm II has been announced for the ECW Arena tomorrow!
6. The Order of the Neo-Solar Temple def. El Pantera and The Colony. Tim Donst came out under a cape and hood. Half of his face was painted and he has a new singlet with "dONST" on it. Ultramantis Black pins Fire Ant in quite the little atomico. Vin Gerard distracted The Colony from making the save by running through the crowd wearing a Soldier Ant mask. The Colony were trying to figure out how Vin got in the building, with Worker Ant quoted as saying "He must've bought a ticket, that mark."
7. Mike Quackenbush and Shane Storm def. Team FIST (Chuck Taylor and Gran Akuma) to gain their first point. Shane Storm had Gran Akuma up for the Air Raid Crash, then Quackenbush came off the top rope with a double stomp to the back of Akuma to allow Storm to get the pinfall.
8. Claudio Castagnoli def. Jorge "Skayde" Rivera. A Ricola Bomb is what it took to put the lucha legend away, but not before tons of awesome, innovative mat work from both men. Good stuff all around.
9. Rey de Voladores Eliminator: Incognito defeats Stupefied, Sonjay Dutt and Turboman. Sonjay continuously did the Fargo Strut, clearly a homage to his boss back in Orlando. Sonjay eliminated Stupefied with a Phoenix Splash, then Incognito eliminated Sonjay with a surfboard. Incognito pinned Turboman with a super blockbuster slam for the win to advance on to face Helios tomorrow in Philadelphia! |

CHIKARA presents "Grit and Glory"
May 18, 2008
Live from The CHIKARADome in Philadelphia, PA
QUICK N' DIRTY:
1. Bobby Dempsey and Sara del Rey def. Chuck Taylor and Daizee Haze
2. Gran Akuma def. PSYCHO
3. Tim Donst and Hydra def. Super Smash Bros
4. Vin Gerard def. Lince Dorado
5. Claudio Castagnoli, El Pantera and Sonjay Dutt def. Mike Quackenbush, Jorge "Skayde" Rivera and Turboman
6. Eddie Kingston def. Shane Storm
7. The Colony def. The Fabulous Three
8. Brodie Lee def. Pelle Primeau
9. CHIKARA Campeonatos de Parejas: Incoherence [c] (2-0) The Osirian Portal
9a. Delirious pins Ophidian. Incoherence up 1-0
9b. Incoherence pin Amasis to win the match 2-0
10. Rey de Voladores Finals: Incognito def. Helios to become the 2008 Rey de Voladores.
-----
Show Notes: The Flyers/Penguins game is still airing on the big screen before the show, even though the Flyers are getting slaughtered. Why they want to set a bad mood for the day, I have no idea. They finally stopped showing the game at the end of the first period.
Louden Noxious was the ring announcer for this evening. Nick Papagiorgio is there and did the show opener.
Attendance is in the 230 range.
1. Bobby Dempsey and Sara del Rey def. Chuck Taylor and Daizee Haze. In true ECW Arena fashion, a full-on catfight broke out between...Chuck and Bobby Dempsey. In a true surprise, Daizee Haze took a rare fall to Sara del Rey. Sweet'n'Sour International have gained their first point.
2. Gran Akuma def. PSYCHO following a moonsault. Nothing too special or notable, but a fine match in which both men stayed competitive throughout. Dave noted "I didn't care for him, but others did."
3. Tim Donst and Hydra def. Super Smash Bros. Donst gets the win over Stupefied with a Fireman's Carry Suplex, "like a Death Valley Driver with a bridge hold for the pin". There was clear friction between Donst and Hydra, with the two of them trying to one-up the other in all sorts of ways.
4. Vin Gerard def. Lince Dorado with the STF. Lince Dorado refused to tap; the hold was applied until Lince passed out. Vin played fair for the most part throughout the match and didn't make any attempts to rip the mask.
5. Claudio Castagnoli, El Pantera and Sonjay Dutt def. Mike Quackenbush, Jorge "Skayde" Rivera and Turboman. Claudio pinned Turboman after a toss-up European Uppercut and a Ricola Bomb. The match received a standing ovation after the conclusion.
6. Eddie Kingston def. Shane Storm. King's clearly a little rusty with CHIKARA and its family friendly environment, as he was caught clearly saying some four letter words that start with the letter "f". He also blew "the mother of all snot rockets" into the crowd. Storm is bleeding profusely from the nose, reminiscent of their last match back in January. Kingston gets the win via knockout after a cobra clutch suplex; the cobra clutch was held on after to ensure that Storm was out. "Shane is disgusting", definitely more brutal than the first encounter.
7. The Colony def. The Fabulous Three. Larry Sweeney was pinned after The Colony racked him up and put him away with The Ant Hill. After some issues between The Fabulous Three, Sweeney lays out the challenge to The Colony for a rematch in Hellertown on June 13th. Colony accepts and the Fabulous Three hug it out.
8. Brodie Lee def. Pelle Primeau. As Dave affectionately called it, "Boot to Face Time". A complete squash, complete with a post-match annihilation from Brodie. Claudio makes the save and Brodie backs out to avoid confrontation.
9. CHIKARA Campeonatos de Parejas: Incoherence vs The Osirian Portal
Primera Caida: Delirious pinned Ophidian using the Chemical Imbalance to put Incoherence up 1-0.
Segunda Caida: Incoherence does their best Briscoes impersonation by winning the first two falls for the clean sweep. A double fisherman's buster similar to what put FIST away last month puts the Osirian Portal down for the count.
10. Rey de Voladores Finals: Incognito def. Helios to become the 2008 Rey de Voladores. Helios tapped out to something "twisty and painful looking". Yes, the King of the Flippies was won via submission. Kind of a sloppy match overall. |

The Wallingford Coliseum, also known to Wallingford locals by some name like "Knights of Columbus Hall" or something like that, is at 279 Quinnipiac St. It's the usual building that indies run when they drop in Wallingford (the MXW show that everyone and their mother was at was there, most notably).
When did you order tickets? If it was within the past week, they might be holding them at the door for you. Shoot an e-mail to chikarawrestling@aol.com and they should get back to you within 24 hours. |
