Well on the cover of men's health magazine, it was said that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has dropped "The Rock" name and will now go by Dwayne Johson. Opinoins??

The name doesnt mean much but I must say of all the wrestlers that left the WWE for other adventures Rock has been most successful. I do feel he will wrestle one more match. Rock/Cena at WM25?

Smart move on his part. How seriously can you be taken as a professional actor if you call yourself "The Rock" in stead of a human being type name? (Yes I am aware that many actors use stage names, but they are usually, you know, NAMES.) He probably also did it to avoid paying WWE for use of the name, which would also be a smart move on his part. The dude established himself as bankable actor with The Game Plan. He doesn't need to rely on his old WWE gimmick to get acting work any more. Also, I wouldn't count on him coming back to the WWE any time soon, or ever, except for maybe the occasional 'special occasion' promo. I definitely don't think he will ever wrestle again.

While I agree it is a smart move for the reason you gave It is really a dumb move that could hurt his career. 1st he owns his name cause he purchased it from WWE in 2002 while filming the Rundown so it's not costing any extra to use it. Second is a lot of people have no clue Dwayne and the Rock are the same guy even though every movie said Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson. Example on Southland Tales it just says Dwayne Johnson and no one (from the video store anyway) knows it's the Rock. I told so many people there how he was in it and they all say the same thing "um I don't see his name listed on it". I then have to point out on the back how it does mention (the Rock). I kid you not one person thought that meant he was in the movie the Rock. Laughing

Bottom line is I'm sure by doing this it will help get non wrestling fans to take him seriously as an actor but a lot of non wrestling fans will not know that he is the same guy and thus it could make him lose ticket sales to his movies. Southland Tales is an example of that but we'll see for sure when his next movie comes out.

Also Get Smart is a bad example cause that would do good with or without the Rock.
