the Iron Eight musta hurt the attendance too. No Corino is too bad, but there's a few matches that did happen I would have loved to see, Namely Mikaze/Fish, Sharpe/Landell and Evans/Mack. |
11-24 WWE Raw
12-5 PGW
12-6 NEW
12-13 ECCW Sourbridge tbd
12-29 Uconn Hockey vs Air Force
1-3-09 GHTBL Awards dinner. Bolton, CT.
1-10 FRW womens doubleheader show (tbd)
1-11/12 JACK IS BACK season seven.
1-16-09 EWA Palmer
1-31 Big Shot Mohegan Sun

The Iron 8 was on the other side of Boston in Quincy not even close to Revere. Quincy=South SHore, REvere = North Shore.
The fact is plain and simple Revere is just a dead town for wrestling |
Umm..Neffy baby, Im fairly familiar w the geographical juxtaposition of towns in that area, having frequented Saugus, Peabody, Danvers and Salem many times over the years. HOWEVER, when there are a couple of pretty big shows not horribly far, sometimes people make choices.
That said however, it sounds like you know Revere's wrestling history, as far as drawing fans. So, I have to defer to you on that being a reason for the poor gate, assuming you can support your claims |

Quincy and Revere are less than 20 miles apart. Both can be easily accessed by the T. That's pretty close if you ask me. |
Other than the people who frequent this board, there arent many people who will travel to Quincy from Revere for an indy wrestling show, especially considering driving the Expressway through Boston is a nightmare even at non rush hour times.
As for traveling by T, do you realize that for someone to travel from the North Shore the would either have to get on a commuter train to North station, or get on the Blue or Orange Line. Then go to Downtown Crossing get on the Red Line and go to Quincy. So I can bet not many people are going to travel ummm well 1 to 2 hours by train for an independent wrestling show, when there is one closer to home. |

Well Ghost at one time Revere was very successful, as ECW ran there very sucessful in 96, 97, and 98/. After they stopped running, Primal Conflict begin running the city in 2000. and had slight success at frist but then even they werent drawing. Sheldon and NECW moved in next and did bring the crowds up from Primal Conflict numbers but after 2 shows decided it wasn't worth running the building. Then MWF ran there, packing the cards with names for 2 shows in 2001 and had the same issue, the town didn't draw. After that the main building that people used in Revere, Wonderland Greyhound Park, stopped allowing wrestling due to issues with the place they ran wrestling being converted to a club. There was a small group that ran at the Revere Y that never drea and then New World Wrestling ran one show and again no crowd. ROH ran that show with Liger and probably had the most success of anyone since ECW, (they happened to run at the same building AGPW ran). But considering Liger was on the show and it was ROH, the crowd was much smaller than your typical ROH draw in Boston. Then most recently BTW ran and from what I have read didn't draw very well at all. Now this group, AGPW comes in and same issue. Revere is just a dead town that for whatever reason can't seem to be a draw for wrestling. |

The "big guy" you mentioned is Big Daddy Bravo. Bravo's tag team partner was "Gorgeous" Gino Giovanni. |

Yes exactly ! sorry I never seen him ebfore & missed his name when he was announced !
Great show & can't wait until their follow up if there is one ! I got a quick chance to speak with the promoter & he said he's looking forward to putting on more shows in the near future. He also wouldn't discuss the situation surrounding the missing Corino & his boys. |

Simmer down boys there was no competition last night. Lets look at the two promotions.
The NECW team has bean running shows for years and a well oiled machine and far as I can see AGPW dose not have the experience with only running a show .
NECW Has an established fan base and the Iron 8 was targeted for the smarks. Shit NECW could have Rocco Abruzzi and Tim Kilgore headline in a cage math and you would still get the local fans to draw but the smarks would not show. As for AGPW they went for the casuals with Snuka and Corino In my opinion that was a mistake.
I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to slam AGPW. Most feds do start out small and if they succeed wiil grow. And I do wish them best of luck. |
It says a lot when NECW draws several times the people with no big names. They have been at it for years and this is one reason they have lasted so long.
You are also forgetting that NECW ran in Revere the very next day at the Hot Dog Safari that drew over 25,000 people according to the NECW report. I was at the Safari and 25,000 seems like a reasonable number. Think about this. Why go to an indy show for $18 or $22 dollars, when you could go to the Hot Dog Safari for $15, see over 4 hours of wrestling and eat free all day? Plus, that event was advertised heavily on radio and in newspapers.
AGPW just didn't know what they were getting into. |

NOBODY knows what they are getting into when they first start promoting shows. I didn't have a clue...hell, I'm still learning and probably will be for quite a while.
It's an experience quite unlike any other...let me assure you of that.

Agreed. It's a long road, and once you think you have it, another curveball comes at you.
Congratulations to NECW for another sellout in Quincy. That's a really big building and they manage to fill it every time. Good for them.
Don't know about Revere drawing because I don't know what the promoter did. He did seem like a rookie but that's because he was.
