You're right...way to many charities have been taken by wrestling organizations in the past. I've seen it WAY too many times, and it pisses me off to no end. Any of us whose been at this for a while and has some form of decency and some moral backbone probably feel the same way and have seen it a few dozen times. It almost seems to happen more times than not. At least once it has happened on shows I have worked on, supposedly all charity based, only to find out the promoter has held the charity in question up for money at the last minute.

So...guys who have been through this tend to be oversensitive about any mention of money or compensation. You may have figured out there are some REAL scumbags out there. Me...any mention of money, even just gas money, going into someone's pockets on a supposed all charity show sets off my creep radar. There isn't much I won't joke about...but this is one of those things.

I won't talk about what I've seen in the past. I will say this...the SECOND Christopher Littlewood show was great. Everyone from event organizer Bobby Cruise, Scott the Shooter, Chaotic (who brought the ring), all the boys broke their balls. Mick Foley also proved what a class act he really is. He came in as special ref for me and John Walters. He recieved no pay, agreeing to come in and his only financial compensation to be selling his pictures and Bobby springing for a hotel room. There was a HUGE crowd, like about 600-700 people and Foley literaly had a line out the door for pictures. At the end of the night, he came up to Bobby Cruise and gave him EVERY CENT of his picture money ( I would estimate that would be around $1,500). He then cancelled his hotel room...he did the whole thing on his own dime.

He was also great to work with as a ref. After one exchange with Walters, I looked at him and told him, "I'm getting way to old for this shit". He looked right back at me and said, "well...you already did 8 more moves than I know how to do in the first minute...you can't be doing too bad".

When i was in Long Island, for show for a wounded combatant in the Iraq war, Mick Foley LITERALLY came walking off the street. He said he read about this and him and his wife were going to go to a play but, figured he would stop off early and donate his time. This in the middle of a match with Talia or Ariel, I cant recall. Mick went back to his car and got some 8 x 10's and all the money would be going to the wounded solder. It was one of the coolest things and most random things EVER at a wrestling show, for Mick Foley to literally walk off the street and do that!

I couldnt make the second show, but, i went to the first CL Benefit show in Fall River....

No problem, Mov. Yeah I choose the subtle route because it is something you'd expect to hear in wrestling, at least in my opinion. It was either that or saying something dismissably ridiculous like, "Sign up to help out on my show next month where we cure the sniffles and send money to Africa!" This is such a carny business sometimes that I find it funny. I find it more funny Dave Padula and Scotty Angel started debating it.

Though I will say I find it out of the ordinary that people are volunteering so publicly. Benefit shows go on all the time. There was just a PLW thread all about it actually. And NWW does benefits for the Rhode Island VA, ALS, high school wrestling programs, Toys for Tots, and the list goes on.

My group, NCW, just did a show in benefit of Ayden Nyberg, another 5 year old kid undergoing chemo. And we've also done one for a girl who died in this terrible highway accident. And one for the Station Fire fund. And Relay for Life. And a few others I can't think of.

Nothing wrong with it. Just... kinda stands out, no?

Mav, Nearly 4 years later, That event still has a place in my heart from everyone involved within the show to the volunteers who worked the event. The Christopher Litchfield fundraiser was definately a success due to the entire lockroom donating their time, Bobby Cruise running the entire show backstage and Mick Foley coming in for free on his own dime.

I did book a hotel room for the night for Mick, But prior to the event he did mention he was going to drive straight back home to Long Island to avoid the New York traffic and I did ended up getting a total refund so everything turned out ok. I persoanlly did the polaroid table with Mick that consisted of autographed 8x10's and polaroids and we had to break it up into a few different sessions due to the overwhelming response of getting a 8x10 and or polaroid.

I'm not sure exactly, We either got $20 or $25 for the combo deal and 99% of the fans ended up getting the combo deal which turned out ok. I'm not sure of the exact figures for the table but Im almost sure it was over $1,500. I did get in 500 8x10's donated by WWE, And Mick left with under 300 left so between the buying fans and those who approached with a handicap of some sort, Mick greeted them, shook their hand and graciously took their pic and signed a 8x10 for them.

All in all, It was a memorable night to never to be forgotten. Thank you again to everyone Involved as none of this could be possible without everyones Involvement.

Christopher is going very good and sprouting up and getting very tall. He enjoys his time with bike riding, and his Involvement with playing ball with his team.

As I have a soft spot for sick children. I will do what I can and have offered ACW tv time In Fall River to promote the show. I will have a exact date for this show in coming weeks.

What great Foley stories, Mav and Flairfantic. I like Foley even more now, didn't think that could be possible. Great to see everyone coming together for this worthwhile event. Sick kids are a cause near and dear to my heart. When I was 17 and in Japan, a little girl I used to babysit for died of a brain tumor she had been battling for about six months. I had babysat for her for about 5 years while she was well, and after she got sick. I promised I'd bring her back something special from Japan. I didn't make it back in time. She died while I was over there, on my birthday. She was only 10 years old. Can't make sense of it, but it's great to see how everyone is pulling together to help this child and his family out. Wish I could do something. Good luck with this very worthwhile event.

I can't wait 'till the rest of the card is revealed. It looks to be a promising show for a great cause. Also, as a fan of the good ol' days of Fall River and New Bedford wrestling, it'll be pretty awesome to see some of the old YPW/SCCW/TRP wrestlers back in their stomping ground. I'll be there.

I will be on hand to represent EPW and also do some Ring Announcing.

I'm looking forward to being able to help support such a great cause!

LMAO, Mike that was an awesome memory!! You forgot how it happened!!! Ariel needed a tag team partner so she asked if anyone would volunteer. Music hit...Talia came out, and the crowd went into a frenzy.. both Ariel and Talia were like "WOW", but the crowd were looking at the street not the ring (By the way the ring was set up in the parking lot of a diner). Guess has really good timing. lol

The play was My Fair Lady. Hearing Foley say that made me laugh so hard I was tearing. But as soon as he found out what the show was for, he ran out to the car and grabbed a box of pics which he autograpghed with all monies going to the soldier.

Now...what seemed really strange was that Foley was driving with his wife to a play and had a box of pics with him. Now thats a wrestler who's prepared! (Since his gear is what he wears out anyways......grey sweatpants, tshirt and red plaid sleeveless vest. lol)

I'm remembering back on how it was a pleasure to deal with Mick. Weeks prior to the fundraiser, I scheduled a phone interview with Mick to promote the show and most Importantly to speak about some of the great things he has done over the years for sick children around the world. During the interview, I remember he called right on time and was actually at a kids ball game and stepped away to do the interview. He was very Informative but looking back it was so funny that while he was doing the interview with us, He was getting bombarded for autographs by ppl noticing him at the game. The interview last roughly 45 minutes and he got in depth about many topics during his travels. On occasion, I call him to touch base and to thank him again after all these years and the first thing he asks is how is Christopher doing? Things like that really means alot to us and we will never forget what he did as the entire lockroom did on that night for the family.

So... to sum it up in a nutshell, With some of New Englands well known stars appearing on this event, I truly hope Brandon will be there and will enjoy the event. Sometimes a simple smile on a sick child can do wonders and at least for a night, The Indiviual can forget their problems and enjoy life.

EPW has decided on the match they will send to this fine event:

Number One Contender to the EPW Heavyweight Championship
Fall River's PRIDE Dan Freitas will take on "The Upset Kid" Nick Westgate

The winner of this match will take on either Kongo or "Brutal" Bob Evans for the EPW Heavyweight Championship on August 1 at our United We Slam event. Kongo is scheduled to face off against Evans on July 18 in Plainfield, CT for the title.

If Kongo wins on July 18, Freitas will battle Kongo for the EPW Heavyweight Championship in a Last Man Standing match.

If Evans wins, Freitas must wrestle twice that night and take on Kongo in the LMS match as well as take on Evans for the title. It's a challenge, but Freitas claims he is up to the task.
