I know that Tony did a french aristocrat gimmick at one point & I know that him & Rush teamed up, i didn't know that they were called "French Connection" or maybe I did & didn't remember that i knew. (?)

If I'm correct, the "French Connection" that worked the EPW show is from Canada. Therefore I would say they have more of a right to use the name than someone from Massachusetts. |

I am of Canadian French blood and wish to join.
It's kind of a generic name. There are probably 50 "French Connections" running around the country. It's right up there with "Rapid Fire", "Straight Edge", "Flyin'" or the alternate "Flying" as a moniker/nickname. |

Sounds like Tiger Jackson is a worker/promoter with a pretty big bug living in his butt. |

I just googled the words "French Connection wrestling". I double dog dare anyone to do the same and see what comes up for results. As a warning...homophobes may not want to run this search |

When we worked in PA, we thought Draven was the only guy using that name. One night we were booked with a guy named Draven McKnight. Now I see the Draven name used almost enough to call it a common name in wrestling. I don't know how many times teams have been called Sudden Impact or something of that idea.
I'll admit, when I at first looked at the results that I was surprised that EPW had the French Connection in (thinking Tony & Rush). Then I saw it was different guys. Lets face it, EPW's few hundred fans in White River Junction probably haven't seen or heard of the other version and didn't feel cheated in the least (or victims of false advertising thinking they might have seen someone they didn't).
If they were Slamtech students debuting, which they might be, maybe then Bob would think to offer other suggestions for a name locally to avoid unwanted confusion. If they were from Canada, like Sonny said, which makes sense considering the proximity of the show making it easier for French-Canadians to travel, then that could be the original gimmick name for these kids.
I think I am in agreement with those who say no harm no foul... that is until EPW debuts a couple Canooks calling themselves Team Nightmare |

If I'm correct, keep your fucking mouth shut! Does Nikita Koloff have the right to be called "The Russian Nightmare"? The French Connection have developed the name and the gimmick for eight years. This is the first time these two kids have tried to use it. Bob Evans is well aware of Rush and Tony and he should be ashamed of himself. As for you, Del Toro, you're a fucking moron with no understanding or respect for the business. |
Does Ric Flair have the right to use the nickname "Nature Boy"?
If we go by your genius standards of pro wrestling "etiquette", then Ric Flair should be taken to task for stealing Buddy Rogers original gimmick. Rocky Maivia should be flogged for biting off Don Muraco. What about the "Hollywood Blondes"? What about the more succesful "French Connection" of Jacques Rougeaus & Pierre Oullette?
"Tiger Jackson", you might want to think about what you say, instead of just making feeble attempts to generate "heat" on a message board. |

Wow, what a stupid subject.
For the record, those guys used that name. That was a tryout match with 3 guys from VT and another guy from Kevin Landry's school in a tag. I really didn't have a lot to do with that match other than tell them they were on third.
Actually, I believe one of them was part of Jacques Rougeau's school mentioned on this site earlier.
We'll change the name next time if I use them again.
And Tiger, Mav worked in front of tens of thousands of people in WWF and WCW TV matches. He's also worked in front of nearly a thousand people several times in high-level independent shows. Don't you remember? You were in the crowd, paying to see him.

I don't know about his partner, but Eric Mastracola has been wrestling for about ten years or so and has done WWE dark matches. |
