What is the name and location of the hospital?
What are the visiting times?
Are there too many people visiting at the same time that I wouldn't be able to see him?
I've been away from the wrestling business for way too long.

Killer Kowalski opened his eyes a few times today and his eyes were not as glazed over as they had been, but he remains in guarded condition. He heart rate is good and his blood pressure is good. The fluid in his lungs (now said not to be pneoumonia) is said to no longer be an issue. Neurologists are evaluating him as for why he has been largely unresponsive.

Just got home from being with walter. He is doing great.
sunday night I was talking about some of the old school guys like bruno and haystacks, etc and his heartrate went up.
today he is breathing on his own. he was slightly responsive to us talking to him. he was clearly opening eyes about half way and moving his mouth more than yesterday.he is off some of the medication that he was on sunday. he is now getting food thru a feeding tube(god I hope it's not steak or he is gonna be pissed0. the color in his face looked a lot better. he got a clean shave and some repositioning which helps a lot.
Theresa is holding as strong as she can, but man is she tired.
to those who are calling the house try to slow down with the calls. normally they go to bed around 9pm the past few days theresa hasn't gotten to bed till almost midnight due to all the calls coming in and the ones she has to return. plus they don't have call waiting so if she is on the phone she won't know if the hospital calls.
the visiting is getting overwelming and they are cracking down.
Fell free to shoot me an email on myspace (myspace.com/freightrainzoeparis
if you want to find out how things are going.
for the wrestlers if you have my number fell free to give it to any of the wrestlers that don't have it and want my number.as most of you know he is very religous. he has the virgan mary by him but can use any prayers you can give.

Spoke to Freight this morning. Walter is doing better than last night. The Doctor said he was opening his eyes more and moving his arms.

Freight asked that well-wishers please stop calling Theresa. She has been flooded with calls by well wishers and people with good intentions, however it's taking a toll on her. She's a tired woman right now and phone calls are keeping her awake when she steels away for a nap. If we post our well wishes here, Freight will print them all out and bring them to Theresa and Walter. I know it's kind of impersonal compared to a phone call, but it's the best way to make sure the message gets through and you know you're not disturbing either of them. On the plus side, it's great to see so many people concerned for the well being of a great guy, let alone a man with such a high status in this business.

Freight,

Thank you for keeping us all informed about Walter's condition. The man is in my thoughts and prayers.

Everyone who has ever benefitted from the kindness of this man, and that's a long, long list, please keep him close to your heart.

Walter is a tough man. If there is a way to beat this, he will do it.

Please send our love and well wishes from myself and everyone at NECW.

walter is still going in a positive direction.
i was asking him questions today and telling to look to the right for yes and he was clearly. understanding me. every so often he would open his eyes wide move his arm and try to attempt to sit up. he was moving his mouth a lot. i have a strong feeling he was saying that this is the shits and he wants his dime back.
it was a very promising day for the legend.
you can see the fight in his eyes. if you ever saw killer kowalski wrestle you know his matches were full of intensity and this fight is no different.
before i ;eft i asked him to open his eyes and he did then I asked him if he would hang on and be strong through the night.i said look right for yes and left for no
he strongly looked right.

*POP*

Dan, Thanks for the ongoing updates. Great to have a credible source of information on Walter's condition giving us briefs.

Best of luck to the legend in his recovery.

FT,

Thank you for your updates and your obvious concern for Walter and his wife. Your loyalty and concern is obviously genuine and heart felt and your accurate, respectful and honest updates will probably do more to keep the constant inquiries away from his wife who must be under an unbelievable amount of stress as it is. I would second your request for people not to bother the poor woman about Killer. There's no need for it with Freight Train letting people know what's going on, and he is obviously a credible source.

I'm not a religious man, but Walter is in my thoughts. From what I know of him, if anyone can pull through this it’s him.

walter is pretty much the same with slight improvements today. he getting tired himself . his sleep patern and diet are way off. but his complection and and vitals are good.
i read some of the emails and postings that came in. it was easier to comunicate with him since he can at least let us know yes or no. tonight was kinda cool. walter was the only one in ICU so he had ALL the nurses taking care of him. that my friends is how a legend should be treated.
more to come tomorrow night

Thx for all the updates. After the original news flurry good to know what is up and not what will spin the story to get the links clicked.

I hope more support Walter. A lot of wrestling fans really respect him and his work, but seems already this story is fading from interest on other sites.

Have a lot of respect for the people visiting him and checking in on him. Must be real hard for most since odds are you knew him in much healthier times. He is a tough SOB and his attitude alone may pull him through the worst. Having so much support will help greatly as well.

Freighttrain,

Thank you soooooo much for these updates. I honestly don't go to bed until I get the updates from you on here. I'm not a religious guy, but my thoughts are constantly with Mr. Kowalski. I really hope he pulls through this. He's literally an icon and his contributions to our industry are second to none.

Hopefully it is just he is tired and needs solid sleep. And I am sure he enjoys seeing people. If he is tired and feeling like crap sure he is happier knowing people are around and he is not left alone. Being this supportive for him is almost as effective as any medical treatment.

And as said before, thanks much for these updates, I too hit the site a few times a day to see how he is. Do not know him and was too young to remember him in his glory days, but he did so much for this area in terms of wrestling just by being around.

It is with a heavy heart that I must report that the neurological evaluation has concluded that Walter has had no brain activity since the massive heart attack of last Friday night. Theresa and Walter's brother Stan are discussing the next step. We love you, Walter.

I never met "Killer", but it's obvious from the posts on here from Mister TA, Mr Freighttrain and othes, the kind of man he has been. One can tell when a person inspires not just respect for his greatness, but love and respect for what he has meant to them.

When Mr Kowalski's name is called, I'm sure he has a special place reserved for him, and he will be at peace. Again, thank you to everyone who has posted, more than just medical updates, but their feelings too on what has seemed to be a wonderful person.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Killer Kowalski. He's a pioneer in this business and is the standard for a "heel" to which we all emulate in a way to this day. He set the groundwork in place, he's one of wrestling's forefathers. I hope he has a speedy recovery, this would be a tremendous loss to this business regardless of age. He stands for tradition and is one of the last remaning links between old school and new school. Please keep the updates coming.

Terry,

Thanks for the update, despite its unfortunate content.

Many more prayers go out to Walter, Theresa, all of their family and friends.

I've had the fortunate pleasure of meeting Walter on a few occasions. I went to the CAC convention in las Vegas a few years ago & got to spend a significant amount of time with him. I think that he liked me because I told him that i was trained by Jeff "Bruiser" Costa with some help from Kevin "Butcher" Hughes. Anyway, we were sitting at one of the trainign seminars, watching the boys in the ring. Walter was telling me stories of days gone by, what a story teller. People who have been around Maverick & myself say that we are excellent story teller, but I was in awe of Walter. Anyway, there were a couple of young guys on the outside going through some arm reversals. Walter kept looking over & shaking his head. One of the kids was a well-built kid, not a big body-builder type, but put together. Walter put his massive hand on my knee & said "excuse me one moment". With that he stood up & walked over to the guys. i can only imagine the converstaion went something like this:

Walter: "What you are doing is the shits, the people wil yell "FAKE, FAKE!", let me show you something"

Kid #1: "Thank you Mr. Kowalski, I would appreciate you showing me anything, even if it was how to tie my sneakers."

Walter: "Go ahead & grab ahold of my arm"

7.6 seconds later the well-built young man was on his knees, wincing in pain as Walter held him down with one arm & some type of "Judo" Gene LaBell type hold. Walter looked over to Theresea & I and let out a laugh that told me that he could still be the Champion of the World if he wanted to.

Walter, Theresa & I were at the airport on the wayback homeas were were on the same flight. Sitting there, chatting, waiting to board, Walter took the time to sign autographs & make small talk with who evere approached him.

I don't know him well, but I know that my life is better because I can share a story of the time I spent with one of the Greatest of all time.

God Bless -

Sonny

I never attended Walter's school although I really wanted to, but I did have the fortunate opportunity to have met him many times. The first time was when I was 12 years old and one of his IWF shows came to Tewksbury High School. My uncle is good friends with a former tag team partner of Walter's, by the name of Big Joe LaCreta. And at that show, my father was a security guy and he took me backstage to meet Walter, and when I told him I knew Joe, he just lit up. Walter always struck me as a very nice guy and I sure hope he can pull through this.

When Walter goes, the most influencial man ever to be in this area, and one of the more influencial wrestlers anywhere-ever-will be gone. The man worked everywhere; he got over everywhere, and did so with an amount of class almost unknown in wrestling.

One of my favorite Walter stories was one related to me by Scott Sharkey (a former student of Walters from many years ago). Walter was running a show somewhere in the metro Boston area. Sharkey was managing a huge guy by the name of Bulldozer; I believe Tim McMeany might have been the opponent. Anyway, apparently Walter didn't like how the match was going...because in the middle of is, he stormed down to ringside, grabbed Sharkey and started screaming, "This match is the SHITS! I want to see some dropkicks"!

Sharkey turned, with a mischevious smile on his face, to his 570 lb charge and said, "You heard him...start throwing dropkicks"!

Bulldozer complied-which must have been quite a site.
