The last episode showed up on the feed and this morning, while driving in to work, I listened to about 45 minutes. I listened to about 15 minutes of the beginning of the show, including the 2 minute intro, and what seems like most of the Gabe S interview. I look forward to finishing the interview on my drive home.
Here are a few points.
1. The host should stick with the show after he graduates college and leaves college radio. He's good and he surrounds himself with interesting people to play off of. He's got some growing to do, but if he sticks with it, he could be a popular wrestling talk show host.
2. There are some audio quality issues that detract from the listening experience. The opening theme uses a music bed with audio clips from wrestling promos. The main problem is the audio level. The clips are all over the map in terms of loudness. During the Gabe S interview, I had to turn my car radio up almost to the loudest point. A free and easy way to normalize the entire show would be to use the free program called
The Levelator. It's available on Windows, Linux, and Mac. You just drag and drop your audio file onto the program and it does a beautiful job compressing the audio so that everything is loud and audible. And the listener won't have to be fiddling with the volume control while he's listening to your audio. Lots of new podcasters *should* check out this technique. It makes listening to your content so much more enjoyable.
3. The interview with Gabe was good. He's very professional and he treats all interviewers the same, meaning he doesn't buddy up to anyone. He was interrupted a few times mid-sentence, but that's just inexperience from the hosts and they'll learn not to do that. Tauron, thank you for using my Chris Hero question!
