Wrestling Observer and Jim Ross wrote:

WWE is in talks with Pro Wrestling NOAH so that the company can sign former ROH Champion Takeshi Morishima. The latest details from discussions are that WWE is getting cold feet.

Morishima faced and won his matches against Charlie Hass in a RAW dark match and Jamie Noble in an ECW dark match this week. During the Smackdown tapings, ECW's Tony Atlas was with Morishima at ringside. WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race accompanied Morishima and represented him.

NOAH allowed Morishima to work with WWE as long as he does not appear on TV and could not do a job. If he signs with WWE, he will have to drop the Global Honored Crown Heavyweight Championship and it's believed that NOAH will receive a payment from WWE.

From Jim Ross's Blog

On Takeshi Morishima: Takeshi Morishima had a non televised match that I witnessed on Tuesday night before we taped Friday Night Smackdown. Morishima wrestles for the Ring of Honor organization which does a really nice job with their promotion for the record. When I saw Morishima in his wrestling attire I thought that the late Terry Gordy, who toured Japan many, many times back in the day, had fathered a "love child". Morishima's physique reminded me of the late Freebird in an crazy sort of way. If the young Japanese athlete can get to Gordy's level in the ring then Takeshi will have done something special because Gordy was extraordinarly special. I hope that WWE 24/7 highlights the tag team bouts that Gordy and Dr. Death had with the Steiner Brothers many years ago in WCW. These four gave the term Slobber-Knocker new meaning.

Hey Fuckface,

-Best Regards,

yeah so special that his most memorable WWE run was as the Executioner. I think he was used better EVERYWHERE else he wrestled.

JR didn't spend his entire career in WWE either.

yes JR was in WCW when Gordy was there but he was also a higher up in WWE when Gordy was there in the mid 90's.

i could see morishima working well in WWE. he is big but can work better than WWE's other big guys. unfortunately not being able to have stiff japanese style matches im not sure how interesting he will be since they will prolly just half ass it and do the generic foreigner heel who doesnt speak with a foreign manager who rips on america

They misuse a lot of people. The "creative team" sucks ass.

Q: What has 400 feet and 3 teeth?
A: The first row of the bleachers at Yankee Stadium.

Borrowed with credit from Rajah.com, who prob borrowed it from elsewhere, who knows.

(((-- Regarding Takeshi Morishima's dark matches for WWE last week, the reviews weren't too positive. Or rather, the problem seems to be with his physical appearance.

Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Live last night that a number of officials were put off by Morishima's appearance, as he's quite rotund. Some of them even thought Morishima disrespected his tryout by showing up in lackluster shape. Morishima is a big guy as he's billed at 320 pounds.

Meltzer also heard pretty much what Jim Ross wrote on his blog on Saturday regarding Morishima as he said he needs to hit the gym and work on his athletic conditioning. On Morishima, Ross wrote: "I haven’t heard a word about how well his matches went. I watched his match in Moline and it was o.k. Not bad, not great. It looks like Morishima might want to focus on his athletic conditioning and hit the gym more frequently. I am not being negative here only realistic. Morishima has "something" that seems like it might be worth exploring. I like his timing and there is no doubt potential with this young man."

In addition to this, if WWE were to bring him in, they would have to deal with a number of stringent political issues with NOAH officials because his side wants him to get some exposure in North America while still being their guy, then bring him back to Japan to carry the company after hopefully attaining stardom with the biggest wrestling company in the world. Basically, WWE can't book him like a joke or make him look bad.)))

Here is where i am a LITTLE lost on all this. They looked at a picture of him before he came in, or watched some tapes of his work, I would assume? So how in the wild blue hell are they complaining about his appearance/weight and claim any "disrespect". He is what he is, a bad ass monster. To Paraphrase Dusty Rhodes , "His Belly Welly may stick out a bit, but it doesn't make him any less enjoyable to watch.

And obviously, one doesnt have to be a "great physique" if he can "work". Note Dusty Rhodes, who you quoted. I rest my case. Dusty could work rings around many supposed "Muscle boys", plus he had "it" too.

WWE in HD and all, im not sure they want "fat guys" on tv. See Big Daddy V and other guys who seem to be slimming down. I cant stand Morishima's work but there's a lot that do.
