Well, up the meandering Route Six and 195 for my first show since July 27. Fun afternoon at Vinny's antiques and the country buffett then show time at the American Legion in Seekonk. From what I understand, a LOT of wrestling has taken place over the years there..

Show began about 715. Some card changes, and some names I didnt hear clearly. Hopefully APCW marc can correct my omissions/mistakes.. Thanks in advance.

RA: Joe Bruen
Refs: Zack, Wild Willy Jackson, Matt the Bulldog Ref.
Att: 40 or so.

A ten bell salute to Juan Party man King began the event.

We had a match w two of the vets to start off. A Fun old school match, w a couple guys just having a lot of fun. Sweet Scott Ashworth and Brickhouse Baker had a ten minute draw. which was punctuated w the old "small package and reversal" deal, a few times. The bell then rang, the fans chanted five more minutes, both men hugged tho, and left together, no more minutes. Lots of fun, and cool to watch two of the vets just "have fun".

GM Johnny Fabulous then came out and said he was here to award the womans title belt, and also. be in Nature Boy Gary Golds corner for his title defense of the HW title vs Dan Bidondi.

"old School" Derek Destiny defeated Nicholas Knight w a rollup and handful of tights. AT this time, some of the fans..(more on that later Very Happy ) started Airplane spin and powerbomb chants, and they got it in this match. This was pretty fun, w Destiny doing a "chair slam " before the match..ummm..I even laughed Smile He also applied a "deadly Trapezius crunch" hold..haha.

The womens elim title was next with Alison Adams, Cryptic Candy, Sandi Starr and Sammi Lane. This was elimination, and nearly eliminated the fans, at one point, when a "bad view" kinda frightened the fans..haha. Sammi is the New champion, she looked GREAT and Johnny F gave her the belt post match.

Freight Train wasnt there, and a guy came out in a mask and attempted to stuff socks in his chest to look feminine. I think it was Angel in a mask. Mr TA pretty much destroyed him. Funny line from TA. Its NOT acceptable to hit Mr TA in the ass..hehe. TA played the nasty heel as usual.

The Five minutes w Marcus Middleton went bout 2.5 minutes and Dan Bidondi came out, (half of tag champs, Team Elite) and said he'd beat Nature Boy Gary Gold later. that was about it.

The HOF Induction was next. This was EASILY THE HIGHLIGHT and worth the long ride for me. Everyone gave speeches, mostly thanking the fans, and such, for being there for them, and all being so proud to have been in the business. I really enjoyed this, and the class shown by all the inductees and the fans too, was great. Mr TA got his certificate "In character" insulting the fans and stuff too. Good stuff. Jeff Costa did a moving speech talking bout how looking back, at a night when u thought u had a bad match, remember it was the time of your life, and also talking about how its all been worth it. Thanks to everyone who was inducted and to Joe Bruen for this part of the event. Another highlight was Sweet Scott toasting the fans w a beer too. Inductees were : Bill Hardy, security guard for years (accepted by his wife I believe). Sweet Scott, Tommy D, Brickhous Baker, Mr TA, Shane Simons, Rich Palladino, East Coast intensity Jose Perez and Jeff Costa . Rich Palladino ended all the speeches by adding in some heartfelt comments bout Killer Kowalski. It was great meeting some of the guys I never had, and hearing them talk from the heart like they did.

Chris Blackheart beat Kevin Karizma in an I quit match, when TJ Richter interfered on behalf of Blackheart, and his manager, Marcus Middleton, who looks like a younger Bub Buh Dudley, After a submission was applied..Karizma then passed out and the match was given to Blackheart. I was hoping for a better match, but I guess KK even thought it wasnt any good, according to what he told me after..haha. Cool moment after saw Blackheart clobber Shawn O with his black "briefcase bag" in the knee. ShawnO sold it like a trooper, I think it had a 100 pound boulder inside..haha

Robbie Ellis won the huge gauntlet tag thingy by pinning Tony Omega w a powerbomb off the ropes. This was a fun match, that was a "blind draw tag" then as someone was pinned, another person came out, and joined the team who just lost a man, when it was down to the last four, it was single eliminations. Angel, Omega, Ricther, Chris Sterling, Eric Dylan were also in the match.

Tag titles was Team Elite vs Sterling and Dylan, (no Aldens) at bell, Dan Bidondi of Team Elite beat up his partner, who was then pinned in under a minute. The titles changed to Eric Dylan and Chris Sterling . Odd...

Up next, the best match of the night, wrestling wise. saw Jose perez defeat Don Vega in a short match, but one that was technically excellent, and hard hitting. Jose got the win with La Magistral (The Cradle) according to TIm Kilgore, as I missed the pin..damn it..

Main event, saw Dan Bidondi w Mr Middleton challenge HW champ Gary Gold w Johnny Fabulous. Good old school match, w lots of pucning and managerial interference at times. Bidondi slugged Gold w the title and the ref counted, BUT GM Fabulous said..No no NOOOO and the match was restarted, and then Gold won w a fast pin..hehe. Post match, Middleton harassed Johnny Fabulous and got put in an STFU for good measure by JF, which got a huge pop..hehe. Johnny F made a tag match w him and Gold vs Middleton and Bidondi w the title up, and if JF and Gold lose, they leave for 90 days. suspension. Date TBA..

Well. Ive seen a lot of shows w better wrestling, but had a LOT of fun. and the HOF thing was simply great. In the crowd were ShawnO..hehe , Smile Ridave, Greg Edwards, and the crew from NCW, JC Marxx, Davey Loomis and Tim Kilgore amongst others. Also, cool talking w Mike who posts as MWH on here, and others. Also, JC, thanks for the beer. A few of them had a few beers and were funny, and it made for a riotus at times atmosphere, Im sure more will be said bout that. Thx to MM also, and the whole crew for a good time.

Sounds like you got the Jeff Costa I speak so glowingly about. I'm glad a few people got to see that side of him.

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to make it as family duties called.

Jeff Costa is probably, next to Kowalski, the most influential wrestling person in New England over the past decade.

Eh, what the hell why don't I leave some thoughts on the show. I'll keep it as brief as I can.

Quote:

I should point out, these guys worked the hardest and put in a really good effort.

The "bad view" was horrible. I'm never eating clams again. Seriously I'm gay now. And I don't mean in the classy "maybe he is, maybe he isn't" type of gay. I mean full on Elton John/Liberace gay. I've decorated my house in real leopard skin, I've taken up playing piano, I've already bought 35 feathered boas and multiple large sunglasses. I'm already listening to techno dance music and the Weather Girls. Gay!

I'll echo that. Jeff Costa's speech was fantastic. Highlight of this for me was Scott Ashworth's line "I have to thank my wife for allowing me to do this for 17, 18, 19 years I've been doing this. She couldn't be here tonight because she... hates wrestling". We've all been there Laughing

I want to point out this really was a great match and made me happy I went. Don Vega pulled out a rolling cradle I had honestly never seen before and that covers alot of ground. Very short, but great for the time it was given. I'd love to see what these guys could pull out given more time.

With all that said an.... um.... interesting night of wrestling. Good to see my brother Terrance Jonah in action!

I didn't believe you Mr. Kilgore when you said that last night. It was a frightening sight indeed, but you do what you have to do. hehe.

I hope someone videotaped the induction, not sure, and can post it on YouTube. Stuff that a lot of indy fans should see.

If it was, judging by the reports...I don't blame him for being frightened.

Think of it this way Dave-if the first time you ever pulled a pair of panties off a girl to go down on her you saw what appeared to be two dirty pieces of melting taffy on a hot sidewalk on either side of a deformed gum ball, you'd have second thoughts too.

Hmm if I was singing I do apologize,
These moments tend to fade away during my morning coffee and arrangement of events from the night before.

Also I should give beer credit to David Loomis, but since he's a young little pup I had to do the honors of buying it for you.

The Seekonk American Legion Hall brings back a flood of memories. Some good, most bad, but memorable nonetheless. The Hall Of Fame segment was definitely the highlight of the show, followed by my realization that the "Shawn O vs. Gray Ghost" feud is merely a work, and that these two truly are BFF's.

My favorite memory of the American Legion in Seekonk is from an NCW show held there when the camera man flipped backwards over the stairs, and you heard this loud thud on the floor. It was the best bump of the whole night.
