On Sheldon Goldberg's Mouthpiece Wrestling Show, Mike Johnson of Pro Wrestling Insider said that he understands Adam Pierce's departure from ROH is a cost-cutting move, as he speculates are the Florida show postponements. He thinks this isn't a good sign, at least not for the short term. Sheldon chimed in that their Boston return date isn't until May and Mike thinks that long time in between shows in a given market is "ver weird."

Well, ROH has taken to run in many cities, so if they think they need to cut back to save money, maybe they should. Plus, Im sure they do well with DVD's, etc. Major cities they run like Philly, NYC, and others will probably be ok. ROHbots, don't panic yet.

No crying. But, any company has a few "issues". Its probably a good business decision to cut some talent/cities, if ticket sales aren't as good, etc. They still put out a very popular product, w some tremendous talent. ROH is far from in any trouble.

I dont think the Boston thing is weird. they have certain cities they run every so often, some more than others. even though they dont release the dates they have the schedule tentatively planned out way in advance im sure. between their early next year schedule already laid out,the availability of the Boston venue on a friday night and them not usually running on back to back weekends it left a lack of opportunities to run Boston again as soon as was reasonable with the fans. someone said they saw a flier with a February return date but i guess something came up. im not happy about them not being back as soon either. it sucks. I expect a CT return in February. in regards to Fla. they drew like 2700 combined for the two shows last time. maybe that was due more to people being in town for Wrestlemania than they thought. i think its bullshit postponing the shows. they shouldve run them and then not returned if they didnt draw well.

obviously youd think ticket sales would be the #1 factor for the postponement but there could be any number of reasons. itd be tough to believe venue problems would be found at both places but maybe one place has a problem and instead of just running one show they decided to move the dates. the thing about attendance is why would they run the smaller building in Philly which was sold out or close to it instead of going back to the larger armory if things were bad where they wanted every last dollar from all potential fans? i heard they were staying at the bingo hall even though theyve had larger crowds than they had last week when they ran the armory. atmosphere I guess.

I called it. When FIP runs they often have shows with like 80 people. that can't be profitable.
THe Wrestlemania weekend audience was probably in town for WWE and looking to check out where Evan Bourne and Jimmy Wang Yang and Scotty Bowman and Jimmy Rave and Homicide and CMPunk and Samoan Joe and Mickie James came from.

Well, my guess is the ECW Arena is cheaper to rent, and, 1,200 people in there looks MUCH better then 1200 in the armory. The armory is HUGE and a great building, but, with wrestling crowds down, the ECW arena is a better move. Plus, the atmosphere is 100x better for ROH there. I will try and make every possible ROH show at the arena.

Plus, ROH might do a afternoon/evening deal sometimes and save some $$ on the venue and such.

new dates for the Florida shows are
2/6/09 (Coral Springs, FL)
2/7/09 (Orlando)

rumors are a return Boston show was moved to squeeze these in.
