Ring of Honor produced several noteworthy feuds in 2004 but none stand out as being as intense as that of Samoa Joe and Homicide. With unresolved issues stemming back to 2003, this rivalry reached a boiling point in St. Paul, Minnesota when their world title match went to a no-contest, causing Homicide to snap and throw a fireball in the face of Samoa Joe. After a brutal beating by the Rottweilers in MA, Joe and Homicide once again fought in Philadelphia for the Ring of Honor championship. Samoa Joe was able to pin an enraged Homicide and retain the title. The carnage continued when Homicide attacked Joe after his 60 minute draw against CM Punk and stole the newly present ROH championship belt in Dayton OH. Joe faced yet another beating when long time foe, Low Ki joined Homicide and the Rottweilers in beating down the champion. Samoa Joe and Homicide Faced off once again in WI where Joe choked out Homicide but was assaulted at the hands of the Rottweilers. Homicide finally pinned Joe in a non-title triple threat match in Boston where ROH official announced they would not meet in the ring again in 2004. Furious with the decision, Homicide stated that their it was not over and vowed that he would face Joe once again to settle their feud.
