I dont know if anyone else is writing them as I do this, if so, I"ll move mine.

Attendance: 100 or so, and it was ROASTING HOT IN THERE.
Had to go outside to cool down.

Refs: Steve, Vinny Lax, and Sal G.

Ring announcer: JJ.

Good to see Kaz, Holly and the family, Barry, Rachel, Jim. Brian, Todd, RiDave, and others, including the "DPW irregulars" hehe.

Mike Milano came out, and did a promo, and put Avil Graves in a handicap match vs Brian Milonas and Max Bauer. They squashed Avil pretty quick..

In a decent match, Furio Falcone defeated Malice by catching Malice w a double knee when Malice tried a move off the ropes.

In a very strong match, Ariel successfully defended the DDW title over Lexus, Match went all over, and inside the ring as well. w a fan being wiped out by Ariel on the floor..sorta..haha.

In a shocker. Guillame Desade and Bobby Ocean defeated Big Jim Sullivan and Kurt Adonis, when Sullivan turned on Kurt. Paulie J then came out, and hugged Sullivan.

Slyck and Brian Fury did a promo for their title match, but shockingly, Eddie Edwards appeared. There was a brawl, and in the end, Mike Milano made the main event a three way dance for the HW Title.

Intermission OUTSIDE w Hollys little tailgate party. w beer, soda, Mikes Hard lemonade and snackys. Happy Birthday too, Holly Smile

Chris Mooch and Del Tsunami w Paulie Jover Devito and Lenn Oddity, when Jim Sullivan interfered on behalf of Mooch and Del. leading to Devito being pinned.

Frankie Arion retained the Cruiser title in a solid match over Cheech. a lot of stalling by Cheech, and arguing w the "fans" early. Match was solid, w technical wrestling and hi flying Frankie won w the destroyer and then the bulldog off the ropes.

The Dredded Gunns retained vs the Canadian Superstars, when they hit their double team on Dave Cole. Many of the other tag teams came out to "observe" and at the end, there was a huge brawl. One spot over the ropes in the match wiped out the fella a couple seats to my left. Dredd and Busta crushing him..hehe. He was ok tho. thankfully.

Mike Milano and Avil Did a promo, that ended up w Milano and Avil signing for a hardcore match on August 18. Jason came out, and laid out Avil. Some fans, who were "Avil backers" got a bit too into it, and nearly ended up in the ring. as they were cut down by Milano in a promo, w Jason there. Other fans argued w them. Kinda UGH there.....

Main event, was MOTN, and a brilliant match. Slyck retained the HW title by defeating Eddie Edwards by submission, and Brian Fury. 13 min match was non stop, intense and stiff. Five star match.

Overall. it was too damn hot, the title matches were all good. Some stuff wasnt too good, and at times, things seemed choppy. Typical DPW show, not for everyone, but "different" indeed. But, the fans there, they r big DPW fans, thats good, but cant some go to shows and do something other than chanting, You are gay, and assorted other worthless chants. Its only a group, but gets annoying. And they thought I put myself into shows..haha. I applaud the loyalty of DPW's fans, but some seem more intersted in dumb chants than the show at times.

Gotta get to bed I am totally beat. Fun show as I thought. Different matches - nobody can complain it was the same old thing. I thought it was something fresh. IMHO, MOTN was the tag team match. Honestly, best Dredded Gunn match I've ever seen. Ground em' and pound em' was too much for the Canadian Superstars. I think Ghost forgot to mention that after the match, after the other guys left who came out to "observe", The Canadian Superstars extended their hands in a show of sportsmanship. They were good sports and maybe i smell a face turn coming?! Ah, but they are SOOOO much fun to boo lmao.

Thanks for the birthday wish Ghost, and to everyone who shared my little b-day tailgate party. For the cards, raffle tickets, scratch offs, well wishes and everything thank you. I may not have won with the tickets, but I will quote my favorite movie of all time (well a beer to many to quote exactly) but from It's a Wonderful Life - a man (in my case a woman) who is rich in friends is the richest man (or woman) in the world. I consider myself then a very rich woman because I have met some great people through wrestling. Thank you guys for sharing my b-day with me. And even though my husband won't read this - gotta send props out to him for buying everything and putting everything together and being a good sport and hanging out.

Thanks again. Great show, fun afterwards. Great way to spend my b-day.

Good report Ghost. Sounds like a typical DPW show to me, which is right up the alley of the DPW faithful (not saying that's a bad thing).

If the "Avil backers" you described are the ones I'm thinking of, they deserved to get cut down by Milano. Those people are annoying as hell with their silly chants that make absolutely no sense. They don't go to the shows to enjoy the wrestling...they go to be annoying...but for some reason, they think they are being funny. If they are going to chant all night, at least come up with something original.

Happy Birthday Holly! I'm glad you had a good day and night at the DPW show! Many happy returns.

Wait, Milano booked himself for a match? Now I know I'll never go back to DPW.

Awaiting the return of Dragon Dragon to Chikara.... Just because.

well, this was my first dpw show in the new building, so ill give my thoughts:

I live 10 minutes away (thankfully, NOT in the city of waterbury) but i go by east main a lot, and i never new it was in there. neat location right off the busy main road. The building inside is pretty big, MUCH bigger then pwf's old school. It was very very hot, much like TRP was. It had a fan that one fan described as "something thomas edison built" i was hoping no one would go near it! At bell time, there was atleast 125 people sitting in chairs that had "the burning hammer.com, "sarah", and other things written on them. If i knew they were still doing the "bring a chair for admission" deal, i would of bought one... as some of the people seemingly did.

Show only started 10 minutes late. the crowd was LOUD and ready to go. I loved the atmosphere inside.

Good ring announcing by JJ btw.

Milonas/Bauer squashed avil graves... next

Chris Camero/Furio vs Malace: Malace is very inconsistent. He has some good moves, but then, has some sloppy moves. He is still very green IMO, but, i guess you only get better with work. I had fun giving him the heat, and the crowd loved calling him emo boy. "ok" match.

Ariel/Lexus: decent womans match. Ariel looked smokin hot and IMO, dominated. You can tell who the better overall wrestler is between the two. lexus certainly has a lot a fight in her for being 100 pounds. id love tos ee ariels mexico stuff.

Black Rage w/ Not a so black manager vs Big Jim Sullivan/"Cowboy" Kurt Adonis: Kurt Adonis, once again, proves he can pull off ANY gimmick or any style you want to use him in. Calling black rage "honkeys" was classic. I like sullivan, but he turned on mr adonis, as he was seemingly paid off by paulie j. I heard sullivan accepted a 3 pack of large bandannas as payment. Fun match.

Mooch/Tsunami vs Oddity/Devito: Remember, Devito is ONE HALF of the baldies... dont you forget it. Mooch looks like a clone of "nightmare" nick steel (who was in attendance). Oddity seems to have a cult following...i just dont get it, oh well. He should wear the sting facepaint and come out with a softball bat.

Arion/Cheech: Cheech was busy hitting on the ladies, ofcourse but arion was seemingly all business. pretty good match with some great stuff from arion. cheech tried to do his "chikara"style of wrestling but arion wanted no part of it, using his own arsenal of moves to win the match.

MOTN #1 - The Dreaded Guns w/ Ragin Ryan Cox vs The Canadian Superstars: I gotta be honest here, this, for me, was one of the two matches of the night for me. The canadians the the guns really worked well together, with some sick spots, brawling and good wrestling... TONS of tag team continuity. I gotta say i really like the guns together, they work great as a team. Then having all the tag teams (a endless supply of them) and brawling was cool...maybe a tag team battle royal the next show?

DPW isnt DPW without a promo with sexual references, "your mother" jokes, shooting on the fans, and having jason knight come out. One fan ALMOST got into the ring w/ jason...which ISNT SMART to do. I dont care if the guy is in his 40's or whatever, i wouldnt fuck with him, period. I wish he did get in, it would of been a RIOT in there. The usual "way past rated r" promo was, the usual. I dont mind this kind of stuff, but, when you got little kids there (between 5 and 12) you really should have some type of "heads up" about this...though no parents or w/e seemed upset, as you hear cleaner language on the street.

MOTN #2 - Slyck Wagner Brown vs Eddie Edwards vs Brian Fury: im not a fan of 3 way dances but this was done perfectly. No rest holds, no filler... it was a fast paced, high impact 12-13 minute match. I am very glad slyck retained, but would like to see a eddie edwards/slyck feud down the road.

Also, thanks to the waterbury cops for breaking our "party" up... i wonder who called the cops on us? I guess talking in a parking lot is a crime in waterbury...sorry for the people i sorta blew off there, i didnt wanna get in trouble. Thanks to holly for providing the beverages and everyone else for the fun.

Overall, DPW was.... DPW. They had some laptop/heat issues (which i have a few suggestions for) and seemingly using the wrong music for a few guys. Also, why would you play the LOSERS music after he lost the match? The avil fans thought this was "a shoot" w/ milano.... ahh man, thatw as classic. Who was that drunk who was bitching to milano? man im glad that creep didnt talk to me. I do like the venue but the low ceilings could be dangerous esp with the bulbs up there were nearly shattered a few times.

Would dpw be worth a 3 hour drive? im not so sure i can say yes, but, if your in the area, its worth checking out. It certainly is "unique". It felt like the old dpw and acw of sorts for me, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. The ring girl is worth the price of admission, as well as the "connecticut crowd" and the atmosphere. I cant make any of there next few shows, but, i will check out a regular show sometime in the near future.

Well. couple of clarifications. First, the "Avil backers" were just loud fans, who supported Avil all the way, and were against Milano. This was odd, because Milano is a big face. They were pretty cool guys, until the "near confrontation" after the Milano/Avil/Jason thing. That was really bizarre. And a group of fans who would give a kidney to support DPW, nearly geting ready to challenge them..ugh.

There is also a vociferious group who were huge Ariel supporters, that was funny, cool guys, who even brought a flag of Portugal. Ariel tried to heel, but smiled a couple times..

The ones IM talking about go there and constantly make derogatory chants like you are gay, and expound on that stuff. It certainly doesnt add much to the show at all. They watch the show too, and enjoy it, but constantly doing stupid chants which are funny for maybe one minute, detracts from fans trying to enjoy the show. Thats just an OPINION tho remember.

One final thing, a "DPW crowd" is the most unusual mixed crowd you'll ever see at an indy show, IMO. Its never tomb quiet in there.

Actually the police didnt show up because of anyone in the parking lot Kaz, they were looking for someone else (don't know who) but apparently about 10 minutes later they found the person one block down as about 5 squad cars showed up there.

And thanks for the compliment on the ring announcing.

A little bit of story regarding the less-than shy fans: After the POW show last week, a group of the DPW regs who worked the show and fans (including MOI) went to Hooters to shoot some shit and watch the Great American Trash. Those guys-I think they are college students-were there two, and sitting next to Avil. Avil, who's quite congenial out of the ring, got into talking to them right before the Bash, and all of a sudden REALLY loud "A-VIL! A-VIL" chants were heard from their table! Next thing I know they're talking about going to the show, and getting directions and such.
When I got there (with a seat reserved for me by the young Miss Sarah Milano) they said hi, and told me this was (for most) their first Indy show. I thought "Cool", and talking about the story lines, including Avil vs. Mike E. Then the show starts, Avil comes out, and they're marking for him like he was the Rock, or something. Then out comes Mike, and not only were they booing, the F word got bounced his way. Mike, not one who takes to put downs gracefully, retaliated. Then came the handicap match, and in their eyes Graves is even more heroic.
They were pretty loud and absolutely obnoxious throughout, ripping on JJ for God knows what reason (with me asking them "Dude! Why you talking about his mom?" to get them to chill a little) and generally making jerks of themselves. Then came the confrontation twixt Avil, Mike and Jason, when things got outta hand and my hat shielded me from the sight Rolling Eyes The fact that the second youngest of the Milano clan was sitting next to me and not taking kindly to what was being said about her dad made it more...irritating.
None the less, I had a great time. The in-ring action was quite good, and helping celebrate the birthday of my favorite Spider-mom made it all the more special. I'll be there next week, as, for better of worse, the Hooters Holigans in front of me. Let's hope they'll be slightly better behaved.

I thought the show was great last night. The only draw back was that Milano and Jason didnt give me the ok to throw that kid through a wall when he attempted to get in the ring with them.

Well, a few more thoughts on the show. It was something fresh tonight. I don't think anybody can complain it was the same old same old. Some great matches. As I said, my fav was the tag titles and the main event. Women's title match was good - great to see Ariel back. Frankie Arion was awesome as usual and Eddie Edwards was a nice added surprise to the main event. Lots of fun, only complaint I have was the heat. Other than that an rated A (for Awesome) show! Thanks again to everyone who joined us for tailgating - hope you had as much fun as I did! Smile

This was my third and last visit to DPW. I could hardly sleep that night with thoughts of DPW in my head. what a nightmare. Maybe I,m getting older but I don't get DPW's appeal. I have been to plenty of extreme shows and enjoy them but they were always age restricted or a warning. To have small children there with the X rated language is not right and maybe illegal. And don't give me the it's ok the parents brought them argument. Some people are not smart enough to be a parent. By the way did anyone notice the baby at the hot dog table. She was in the car seat all night in that heat and more than a few times unattended.
Talent wise some was great, some was so so and the rest was just terrible. To see Jason Night drunk in the ring is not cool it is just sad. And for the story lines give me a break a heal/face turn at every show. Whats next the ticket lady or hot dog girl will turn on the company.

Kaz - We only did the free ticket for a chair offer at the first taping...we just have a lot of chairs that were 'territorily marked' by the fans that brought them. Bell time for Sunday's show is 4 pm.

Ghost - Thank you also for your compliments.

ridave - Sorry you didn't enjoy the show, but you cannot deny the intensity of the crowd at The Proving Grounds Saturday night. Also, Jason was not drunk at the show, and showed no signs for you to make that assumption. And finally, you seem to have a problem with profanity at the shows, but you had no problem dealing with it when you used to join the live webcasts of Full Circle Radio. Whatever. You can't please everyone all of the time.

Great attempt at trying to win back a potential paying customer. I can see a great future in public relations for you.

Whatever. You can't please everyone all of the time.

you may have me mistaken with someone else. Please reread my post. I dont have a problem with profanity. It should never been said in front of small children. As for Jason I was out in the lot before the show and during intermission the man could hardly speak straight. I once last winter saw the radio show and it was very silly.

First , thanks to Holly and family for their hospitality and I hope you had a great birthday . Second, Kaz asked if it was worth a 3 hour trip , since it takes me 3 hours let me say NO . That was the hottest (temp only) building I've ever been in . There was an aura of confusion about the whole show . Like any show , some good matches and some dog matches , but that can be anywhere . It was fun getting to go around back and talk with some friends on the show , but I can promise I wont be back until at least the temp drops to 50 outside .
