TNA house show results 3-20 Evansville

by Austin Walker

TNA House Show Report
Evansville, IN
March 20, 2008

1. Petey Williams beat Jimmy Rave with the Canadian Destroyer. Short but very good match.

2. LAX beat Curry Man and Kaz when Hernandez pinned Curry Man. Huge pop when Hernandez dove over the top rope to the outside.

3. Awesome Kong beat ODB with the Awesome Bomb.

4. Booker T. beat Robert Roode with the Book End.

5. AJ Styles and Tomko retained their titles beating the Motor City Machineguns. The champs were more over as the faces, especially AJ.

6. Kurt Angle beat Christian Cage by tap out to the ankle lock submission. Back and forth chants here. Crowd was hot for the finish. Excellent match.

Afterwards, Angle took pictures with people in the ring while some of the other talent walked around ringside signing autographs and taking pictures as usual. Overall, a very good show and the crowd definitely went home happy.

TNA house show results 3-21 St. Louis

by Nathan Toth and Matt Burrows

From Nathan Toth

-1. Petey Williams vs Jimmy Rave: Williams via Canadian Destroyer which crowd popped huge for all match.
-2. Curry Man &Kaz vs Motor City Machine Guns:MCMG wins via pinfall with some backbody drop/neckbreaker. Really fun match with Curry Man doing his entrance antics along with incredible in-ring work from Shelley/Sabin.
-3. TNA Knockouts Championship ODB vs Awesome Kong(c): Kong defeats ODB with Awesome Bomb? Crowd pleaser.
Robert Roode vs Booker T:Booker over It Pays To Be Roode w/ Head Scissors Kick. not much heat for Roode, until Jeremy Borash mentioned on mic that Robert Roode would like everyone to show Robert some respect which resulted in cheap heat.
5. TNA Tag Championship: LAX vs Styles/Tomko(c): Styles was over with the loyal TNA fans like myself the minute he made his entrance. Very well paced matchup. Styles/Tomko take pin over LAX with their team finisher? Forgot name of it. AJ is Phenomenal in person.
6. TNA Title Match: Christian Cage
vs Kurt Angle(c):Submission win by Ankle Lock for Angle.

From Matt Burrows:

Jimmy Rave and Chrisy Hemme were first out for match won by Petey Williams with Canadian Destroyer

Curry Man did his intro and was joined by Kaz against Motor City Machine Guns. Very good match with MCMGuns winning with double-team finish on Kaz for clean pin. Kaz will be good heel main eventer

Awesome Kong pinned ODB after backfist and powerbomb. Backfist was stiff, ODB was dazed during powerbomb. 2nd referee and others from back came to sell the powerbomb and got ODB to her feet after giving her flask.

Booker T pinned Robert Roode. Long intro by Booker may have gotten more heat than Roode's stalling but Booker had biggest pop of the night.

Tag champs AJ and Tomko beat LAX when AJ pinned Homicide with handful of trunks. I was first row and this match had the first and only blown spots of the night. These teams should go in other program

World title match with Angle over Cage via tap to ankle lock. Seemed short but good effort by both. Seemed at least half of crowd got pictures with Angle afterwards. Too bad this time couldn't have been used for a few more matches.

TNA house show report 4-4 Spencer, IA

by Brian Hoops

Hi,

Jeremy Borash was introduced to a standing ovation and then he did all
of the introductions of the matches. It was a good, entertaining show
overall; however Borash's attempts to shill for crowd chants was
embarasing. He offered backstage passes to whoever cheered the loudest
and encouraged crowd noise after each match. He continually hyped "big
surprises and major announcements and came off as sleazy. The crowd was
already loud and vocal, I don't think he needed to over emphasize the
crowd participation the way he did.

1. Curry Man defeated Sonjay Dutt in 7:57. Curry Man was over with the
crowd, especially the kids. Lots of comedy to start the match. Did a
spot where Curry was too hot for Dutt when he would get close to him and
needed water, but Curry hit the ref who spilled the water on Dutt. Dutt
played face until half-way through the match, then turned heel on Curry.
Final minute saw several near falls until Curry hit the spice rack on
Dutt for the pin. Decent opener and crowd chanted TNA after the finish.

2. ODB defeated Gail Kim and Jackie Moore in 5:39. It was advertised ODB
vs. Kim; but Moore came out to make it a three way. Match was for the #1
contender for the TNA Knockouts Title. ODB got a huge reaction, but Kim
was cheered also. Crowd chanted "you suck" at Moore. Kim was out early
by Moore. ODB hit a fall away slam on Moore and followed it with a side
Russian leg sweep. Kim threw Moore into the guard rail and Kim and ODB
traded several nearfalls. Moore threw ODB outside. ODB came back in and
ODB and Kim double teamed Moore, until they fought over who would pin
Moore. Kim missed a shoulder tackle on Moore into the post and ODB
school-girled Moore for the pin. Kim and ODB teased dissention until ODB
shared her flask with Kim and they left together. Good action but way to
short.

James Storm came out for his match with Rhino but Borash said he didn't
have a doctor's clearance from the Destination X PPV and couldn't
wrestle. Didn't he just wrestle on Thursday night Impact the previous
evening? Storm went backstage.

3. BG James pinned Kip James in 5:51. Kip looked huge in the ring. BG
cut a promo before the match to let the fans know who was the face and
who was the heel in the match. Lots of DX references. They brawled
outside to start with Kip playing total heel. Kip controlled the entire
match until he missed a tackle in the corner and BG rolled him up from
behind for the pin. Exact same finish as the previous match.

4. Rhino defeated James Storm in 6:30. Rhino came out to a strong crowd
reaction. He called out Storm and as Storm was reading his doctor's
release, Rhino tore it apart and attacked Storm to a huge pop. Storm was
decent on the mike as a heel, with lots of insults thrown out at the
crowd. Storm took control early using a savate kick and tape to choke
out Rhino. Several false comebacks by Rhino, got the crowd behind him.
Rhino finally hit a belly to belly suplex and gored Storm and then
pinned him. Not a bad match, but not enough time to develop.

Intermission

5. In a match for the TNA World Tag Team Titles, AJ Styles and Tomko
defeated Jay Lethal and Samoa Joe in 11:10. Crowd was split pretty
evenly between the teams during the opening introductions, but a minute
into the match a "Princess AJ" chant started and Styles milked it for
all it was worth. Styles and Lethal were equal for the first couple of
minutes, so Tomko tagged in. They did several "big man-little man" spots
and Tomko hit a fall away slam on Lethal. Joe in. Joe and Lethal took
control on Tomko until Styles kicked Lethal in the back and then it was
Styles and Tomko in control. Lots of Tomko-AJ sucks chants. They built
heat on Lethal for several minutes until Joe came in and cleaned the
ring. Joe and Tomko outside the ring fighting and Styles hit a Pele kick
for a nearfall, but Lethal hit the "Lethal Combo" for a nearfall. It
looked like they tried that spot but missed it and went back to it.
Lethal climbed the top for the big elbow, but Tomko knocked him off.
Tomko and Styles doubled teamed Lethal and Styles pinned Lethal. Tomko
attacked Joe in the post match, but Joe made his own save and gave
Styles a muscle buster and Lethal dropped the elbow on Styles. A very
good match, but it could have been great if it was allowed more time. On
the way to the back, a fan went after Joe by the guard rail. Joe got in
several shots until security drug the guy away.

Borash promised the fans they would come back.

6. In the main event, Booker T pinned Robert Roode in 13:09 of a no-DQ
match. Booker got a big reaction coming out while Roode got mild heat.
Roode stalled early to build heat then Booker took over. Roode took over
after throwing Booker outside. Roode's punches and slaps looked good.
Roode used a back suplex for a nearfall in the ring. Booker tried for a
bookend, but Roode blocked it and hit a drop kick for a near fall. A
Harlem sidekick stopped Roode's offense. Booker went for an ax kick but
Roode ducked it and hit a spinebuster for a good nearfall. Booker hit a
spinarooni and a bookend for another nearfall. Finish came when Booker
kicked a chair Roode was holding into Roode's face and then the ax kick
and the pinfall. A good main event match.

Fans were able to get into the ring afterward with Booker T for a
poloroid and $20. ODB, Gail Kim, Rhino, Curry Man and Jay Lethal came
back out to ringside to sign autographs.

Summary: I thought it was a good, entertaining show. The matches could
have gone a little longer and built to a more meaningful conclusion;
however all six matches had clean pinfall victories, with no dq's,
countout or run in finishes. I would recommend to see a TNA houseshow if
they come to your area.

those shows will be loaded with Canadians, spending their valuable dollars in cheap American venues.

Just got back from the nexus of humanity. Here's the quick rundown.....
Very few people there. I don't know what they draw so I can't tell you if this was a good crowd or not, but there were entire rows of empty seats on the floor, and almost no one sitting in the upper sections.
1. Curry Man beat Sonjay. Lots of dance related offense and hijinx. Sonjay slipped on the ropes several times. Ring is very dusty. Fun.
2. Gail Kim beat ODB and Jackie, I think.
3. B.G. James beat Kip James. Fine, nothing wrong with it.
4. Rhino beat James Storm.

Intermission

5. A.J. & Tomko beat Joe and Machismo. Really fun match. Everyone did their trademark stuff. A.J. took a muscle buster and elbowdrop after the match. Tomko looks much smaller in person than he does on tv.

6. Booker T beat Robert Roode. Also a good match. Longer than I would have guessed. Booker got the win with the Harlem Hangover. Or not.

Fun show overall. Security in the building was horrible, as are the accoustics. SHOCKING amount of TNA shirts in the crowd. Tons of Tomko shirts. Go figure.

What? No Roxy LeVoodoo? Man that sucks.

I am going to this but I do not follow TNA wrestling at all. So does this look like a good line up? What is worth watching? What will suck? I think I have seen Curryman under a different name before. Who is he?

So, is tomko suspended from TV or both TV and House Shows? I was looking forward to seeing him in person since the WWE.

In VT and the CT shows, AJ/Tomko are co headlining the events... i wonder if we will see AJ in singles action then?

KURT ANGLE MISSES TNA EVENT DUE TO ANNOUNCED INJURY
by Mike Johnson @ 2008-05-09 00:49:15

Kurt Angle missed tonight's TNA house show in Barre, Vermont due to an announced injury. There had been rumors Angle injured his neck working a date in Korea over the weekend, but I was unable to confirm the injury. Angle had been booked to challenge TNA champion Samoa Joe in the main event of the Barre event. AJ Styles challenged Joe in the main event, losing in what was said to have been a very good match.

There were about 500-600 in attendance at the Barre event, which also saw the following results:

*The Motor City Machineguns defeated The Rock N Rave Infection.

*In what was announced as an X-Division championship contender's bout, Curry Man defeated Sonjay Dutt. X-Division champ Petey Williams hit the ring and drilled Curry with the championship belt, then cut a promo saying that when he's healed from his injury, no one will be able to beat him.

*TNA Knockout champion Awesome Kong defeated Roxxi and ODB (accompanied by a local DJ) in a Three-Way bout.

*Booker T defeated Robert Roode.

*LAX defeated James Storm and Shark Boy. They set up the odd couple team with Storm cutting a promo saying he didn't have a partner because no one was good enough to beat him or team with him. Shark Boy came out to a big pop and they ended up as a team. LAX were also accompanied by a local DJ.

In an interesting note, since it was a house show, they were using a lot of rock music for entrances that the original ECW used to use.. Earl Hebner actually came out to Bret Hart's music. No, just kidding. He came out to "Man in the Box." Rock N' Rave came out to Offspring's "Come Out and Play."

Jeremy Borash taped a TNA Today segment.

Although it was a house show, Christy Hemme and Jacqueline were at the event in their charge's corners.

Thanks to Mary Briscoe.
