#1 - How did you get your start in the business? Where was your first match and who was it against? How did it feel to finally wrestle in a match?
I trained with Steve Corino as part of the WORLD-1 Dojo. My first match was against Alex Law, a training partner of mine and a good friend. He is currently exploring opportunities outside of wrestling, so I wish him the best. I’m not sure how I felt after my first match. I was probably relieved that it was over. I don’t remember ever being too nervous before any of my matches, however, I am sure that I just wanted to get that first one under my belt and learn from it, just as I still learn from each of my matches today.
#2 - What current promotions do you currently work for?
I work for a lot of promotions on and off. There is a good list on my website (www.RickyLandell.com) if you want some exact names. However, I pretty regularly work for a majority of the AWA territories that are scattered around the country from Maine to Florida and New York to the West Coast. On the east coast, I am always more than happy to work for the Northeast Wrestling (NEW) promotion.
#3 - If there was one wrestler who you would love to work with but haven't as of yet, who would that be?
Wow, this is a really tough question. I haven’t really haven’t had to think about this until now. There are quite a few wrestlers that I would love to compete against. Unfortunately, a lot of those names have passed on or retired long ago. If I could go back in time, two names that come to mind right away are Nick Bockwinkel and Curt Hennig. Obviously, things being the way they are in life, those matches could never happen. I have always been a fan of Terry Taylor’s work, so he would also be on my short list.
#4 - If you were offered a contract by TNA or WWE, who would you work for and why?
In truth, it would all depend on what kind of offers were on the table. There are so many factors that play into this hypothetical situation. Both companies have some obvious pros and cons, however, I would most likely take the contract that offered the best balance between income and quality of life.
