Ok, I got a little excited, 10kdays isnt terrible. I think some of it was really lazy writing (the interlude in The Pot comes to mind) and rehashed riffs from older Tool songs (H., Third Eye, Lateralus, etc).
I do believe Wings for Marie/10kdays is 'their epic song' on the record, and leaves me blown away every time.
Aenima just feels like a more complete album to me. Even though Aenima came out 12 years ago, it still sounds like an album that could come out today.
I expect alot out of NIN and TOOL because they expect alot out of their fans. Trent is a great musician, but I think he may be rushing through some of his newer stuff.
His two new singles sound like With Teeth left-overs. Not that that is a bad thing, but going back to TOOL, if i want to hear the older stuff..I'll listen to the older stuff. I thought Year Zero was great, mainly because it was something different. |
