Another sell out crowd packed the National Guard Armory in Quincy, MA this past Saturday night as NECW returned to live action presenting SPRING BREAKDOWN.

In the opening contest, the Asian star, Makoto, mad an impressive debut in Quincy defeating the self-proclaimed "Future Superstar" Ryan Matthews with a fisherman’s spine buster.

DC Dillinger, currently under suspension, walked in as a paying customer stating he was there to watch Eddie Edwards defeat rival Alex Arion.

In a special Pat’s Pit segment, NECW President Sheldon Goldberg came to the ring as Piper’s guest. Addressing the confusion over the current Triple Crown Championship situation caused new champion “The Mohawked Enforcer” Max Bauer, former champion “Big” Rick Fuller with Brian Cairo, and Antonio “The Promise” Thomas to come to the ring. Goldberg stated that due to the circumstances around Bauer’s win the title would be held up pending the result of the evening’s main event.

In tag team action, Team Nightmare (Evan Siks and Nick Steel) defeated Vain Valentino and “The Talent” TJ Richter. After the match Richter blamed Valentino for the loss and attempted to physically take his anger out on his young partner. Vain fired back and threw Richter into a ring post. Steel and Siks raised Valentino’s hands and left the ringside area with him.

It was announced that already invited into the 5th annual Iron 8 Championship taking place on May 31, from the Florida independent scene, Japanese star Kahagas, representing Chikara, Gran Akuma, and two-time defending Iron 8 Champion “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards.

“Exotic” Kristian Frost made a successful return to NECW by pinning Brandon Webb, managed by the debuting Taeler.

In a hard fought contest, “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards accompanied by Sean Gorman faced off with “The Golden Greek” Alex Arion with Elektra Arion. Late in the match, ref Rob Teutel was inadvertently splashed in the corner by Arion. Gorman attempted to bring a chair in the ring, only to be speared by Elektra. Edwards attempted to slap Elektra, who ducked. Edwards was super kicked by “The Golden Greek”. Edwards managed to kick out at the referee’s two count. DC Dillinger attempted to climb over the guardrails and was stopped by security. Alex Arion called him on, but in that distraction, Edwards was able to hit him with a cross legged fisherman’s buster for the victory. Post-match, Arion left the ring and Dillinger spat at him. Arion pulled Dillinger into the ring over the guardrails and tore his clothes off while beating him up. Dillinger managed to escape out the doors of the Armory in only his underwear.

After intermission, Scott Osbourne with Brian Cairo faced “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke in what was billed as an “Iron 8 Showcase Match”. Osbourne scored what has to be viewed as an upset by countering Locke’s “Locke Down” slam move into a pinning cradle for the win.

On the tron, Joe Matterazzo from NECW TV attempted to catch up with the current NECW Tag Team Champions Chase Del Monte and “Rocket” Fred Curry, Jr. Matterazzo met up with Del Monte and joined him to meet up with Curry who was discovered to have been attacked by Pride. Del Monte ran off towards the ring area to confront Pride.

In a handicap match for the NECW Tag Team Championships, one half of the reigning champions Chase Del Monte defeated Pride (Brian Nunes & Dan Freitas) by count out. The three were brawling outside the ring and Del Monte managed to barely beat the ten to win the match. After the Chase’s win, Pride entered the ring and began to brutally beat the champion down. Finally, Team Nightmare hit the ring to save Del Monte, sending Pride running for safety.

The next match was a World Women’s Wrestling feature match. Lexxus began her climb back up the ladder of WWW Championship contention when she defeated Amber with the guillotine drop.

Before the main event, it was announced that Scott Osbourne’s earlier win over a former Iron 8 finalist earned him an invite into the Iron 8 Championship.

In a hard-hitting main event, “The Mohawked Enforcer” Max Bauer defeated “Big” Rick Fuller and Antonio “The Promise” Thomas in a one-fall three-way match to become the undisputed NECW Triple Crown Champion.

NECW returns to Quincy on Saturday night, May 31 for the 5th Annual IRON 8 Championship. Tickets will be on sale later this week at all FYE locations, K.C. Sportscards, 33 Temple Street, Quincy Center. They are available now online at www.NECWwrestling.com

Sheldon,

What about the TV Title vacancy? I thought an announcement would be made about that this past Saturday night?

Just found this at the NECW website:

Handsome Johnny Stripped of TV Title Due to Injury; Tournament Announced for Eddie Andelman's 19th Annual HOT DOG SAFARI

NECW officials announced that NECW Television Champion, Handsome Johnny was stripped of the title due to an ankle injury that would prevent him from defending the championship for at least another 6 weeks. NECW rules state that the champion must be able and available to defend the title at least once every 30 days.

Officials also announced that a one day tournament to crown a new champion will take place at Eddie Andelman's 19th Annual HOT DOG SAFARI to take place at Suffolk Downs in East Boston, MA on Sunday June 1st.

More details will be announced in the coming weeks!

You just posted the announcement concerning the Television championship vacancy. I fail to understand what your problem is. You ask about the vacancy, but you post the answer to your own question right after that. wall

No apology necessary...just be conscious of what you're posting. In the words of Ghost...that is all.

We decided only to announce the first IRON 8 participants Saturday, because too many announcements at one time on one show doesn't make any of them stick.
