Jesse Ventura was GREAT with ross..... why didnt that last?

Not sure about Nikita but Steamboat wanted to spend more time with his wife and kid.

Ventura left WWE due to wanting more money and left WCW cause he refused to show up to work most of the time so Bischoff paid him to stay home til his contract was up.

Damn, Venturra was so good at calling the action and making "smart ass" comments about the wrestlers that made you chuckle.

Man i loved it when ross CALLED the match!

Jimmy Jam? How did he get that nickname? and why is Jimmy Garvin part of the freebirds here? I dont recall him being an original part of them in WCCW.

Garvin and Hayes managed by DDP was one of the greatest things ever. Garvin joined I believe in 88 maybe 89. In 91 they had a great feud with Doom.

So, Dr Death and Gordy were WCW tag team champs and then won the NWA tag belts at the end of this? And why was the "big gold belt" given to Japan? If i recall, wasnt it WCW and New Japan had some working relationship?

At the time Championship matches in Japan were real and not pre determined so if you lost the title then you lost the title.

Yes, WCW had a deal with New Japan pretty much right up until they went under.

Also, 1992 WCW was so fucking awesome.

As far as WRESTLING went, heck yes. Nothing too fancy as far as storylines or gimmicks, but, it was great.

Steamboat exited wrestling because he had an injured back and doctors told him one wrong bump could cause permanent injury and possibly even paralysis. Iirc he retired and forfeited the US title to Steve Austin once he was told this. It was somewhat similar to Rick Rude's situation except that Steamboat's injuries were more cumulative in nature rather than being caused by one specific in-ring mishap.

How the fuck would you know? All you see is snippets on 24/7 while some of us actually watched it WHEN IT HAPPENED.

So much flesh...so little time.

I guess people arent allowed to go back and watch tapes, footage, dvd's and such of wrestling to learn more? Yikes.

Well, if you actually watched more old footage besides 24/7 you wouldn't sound like such an ass in your statements. To complain about a "lack of storylines" when all you see is the payoff match is moronic. Back then storylines would be months in length, even years sometimes, and would culminate more and more with each week of television. It wasn't like the last 5 years where they do the setup on Raw and have the blowoff on the PPV 3 weeks later.

So much flesh...so little time.

Why are you being such as ass too pal? I do happen to remember those "WCW Days" and yes, they did have storylines, etc. But, why should it matter like life and death to you when someone just makes their observations? FF enjoyed the wrestling back then, and doesn't realize the way they utilized storylines. For this, you should nearly want to shoot him? If this is your biggest problem in life, you have it easy. Yes because I have all the time in the world to sit around and watch DVD's of wrestling.....

The rest of the thread was good back and forth banter until you had an issue with it, but apparently, no one else does. No one else seems to have a issue with teach me and telling me about things that ive never saw, so i can put the pieces together. Ofcourse some statements may not make sense to you, but, all you wanna do is run me down because I dont know as much as you.

So true. Between Pillman-Liger, Sting-Cactus Jack, Sting-Vader, War Games 1992, MVC-Steiners, Steamboat-Austin, Steiners-Dangerous Alliance and a buttload of other matches, WCW was what Southern wrestling- hell, good wrestling period- was all about.

how do you figure? what was so great about the storylines of 92? Van Hammer and Big Josh were classic Rolling Eyes Who could forget Sting recieving packages containing Abdullah the Butcher, Cactus Jack and then Lex Luger to set up what don't get me wrong was a great match at Superbrawl 2.

Van Hammer and Big Josh were mid-carders and had no major storylines going.

The Sting-Cactus-Abdullah-Luger storyline was awesome. Try taking off your ECW blinders for once.

you were a fan of thunderdome too huh? Van Hammer and Big Josh both made it to pay per view as did PN News and others. Jobbers on pay per view is ok but not when half the card consists of them

WCW in 92 was truly great, one of the few things wrong with it was that not a lot of people were really watching it or going to the matches at the time.
