Kind of hard to do that on the day of the show don't ya think |
mvp vs. hardy was a great addition to the ppv
so i watched the ppv in HD and it was hit or miss. Miss would be the opening match. good length, terrible outcome. the second match was really good, kane/punk vs. miz/morrison. the match was well paced and exceeded my expectations de to the wrestlers work rate. i felt like all 4 wrestlers really went out there to put on a good show and ''wow'' the crowd. the wrestlers did a great job making you think that kane/cm punk had a really good chance of winning the titles from miz/morrison, then out of nowhere morrison hits his finisher on cm punk. very illogical to keep having mr. money in the bank getting pinned, but the match itself was entertaining.
hbk vs. y2j was good as well except i wish the match was for IC title. I expected Y2J to pull off the win. Hopefully this is not the end of the angle.
The women's title match was good except for the fact it went only 6 or 7 minutes, and ended abruptly. The women were doing a fine job building up to a climax, and we even saw almost a double dominator when beth phoenix had both mickie james and melina on her shoulders.
Undertaker vs. Edge...excellent match, terrible ending. This was the story of the PPV. Excellent matches, terrible/illogical finishes. Terrible to see the 'vacancy of the title' continue....and upset to see Taker get screwed again.
Hardy vs. MVP...decent time filler..lets admit it..thats all this match was...filler. good to see mvp put over hardy, but it doesnt make sense. a man gets busted for pot, serves 60 days suspension, then gets another push.
main event lacked a good blade job, a climax, and logic. randy orton took what seemed like hours to climb over the cage, and it lacked emotion and a climax.
overall, the ppv had great wrestling matches, but the finishes werent well planned. wwe has done a great job over the past few weeks swerving the fans and created unpredictable finishes....this ppv was not one of them. they may have swerved the fans here and there, but overall the finishes were illogical. |

I read the results, I didn't get to see it. From what I read though it wasn't very good sounding |

I was home and bored so I ordered this too, and would mostly agree with the above comments. Best match was Y2J vs HBK. No real 'worst match', if I had to pick one it would be MVP vs Jeff Hardy just because I hate MVP, the guy is just not interesting to me at all. The womens' match was better than expected, the double-backbreaker was amzing. I haven't seen anyone do something like that Since Ken Patera in the 80s.
The phrase "out of nowhere" was heard WAY too much, almost very match ended with an "OUT OF NOWHERE" pin. The endings of the matches actually pulled me out of the show mentally to the point where I stopped getting into it and asked myself "who the hell is doing these finishes"? I guess now we know what Michael Hayes' job was on PPV shows.
The post-match angle after Taker/Edge was AWFUL. Not so much the idea - I get that they are trying to drag out the title chase -as the execution, which was was painful to watch. It took forever and it looked like Vickie either forgot what she was supposed to do or was waiting for a cue that never came. The 'evil comissioner' thing is tough to pull off, now WWE are doing it on both brands and it gets annoying very quickly. Even more so when they botch it up.
Otoh I do get a huge kick out seeing my former DOI colleague Brian Myers (one of the "Edgeheads") on a national WWE ppv. 5 or 6 (maybe 7?) years ago I met this guy when he was hawking print (!) copies of the DOI at some show at Elks Lodge, now the dude's a WWE superstar and gets involved in ppv main events. That's a hell of a long way to travel in that length of time.
Funny, I watched WCW Slamboree 2000 on 24/7 this week, a ppv done at the height of Vince Russo's disastrous reign. The show was entertaining, but you could just tell from watching it that the person booking the matches didn't know anything about wrestling. (Sadly, almost any finish or angle from that Slamboree show would fit seamlessly in today's TNA. Russo *still* hasn't learned anything.) Watching last night's Judgement Day ppv, I found myself wondering if Russo was back booking for the WWE. Okay, it wasn't *that* bad, and the matches mostly delivered, but almost all the finishes were bad. |

Jeff vs MVP and HBK vs Y2J were probably the best matches of the night even though i haven't seen the show yet. What happen to Show vs Henry? |
