That match was Fantastic.

I picked up a DVD from the AWF that had a show in Lowell MA. It had to be 91 or 92. The opener was TNT in an awesome match against Terry Bull.

Thanks Mr. Enforcer

Was that the world famous AWF that ran two shows; one in NY and one up here at the Memorial Auditorium and blew through about 100 G's (representing all of the company's assets) while doing so?

It may have been. I know they headlined the show with Stan Lane vs Paul Orndorff in a match that would have been amazing in 1986, not in 1992

Sweet Stan and Paul Orndorff? Awesome. I would think in 92 it still would have been pretty good, tho I do agree that in 1986, it woulda been better.

Abdullah, the Shiek (the fucking original now, not Eastman's favorite), Sabu, Dr. Death, Tom Prichard, Tony Anthony...just about anyone who you would have heard of to people you almost heard of were on these shows. It was fucking insane.

I remember reading about that in the Apter mags. They were hyping the fed like it was the next big thing, then nothing. And Orndorff beat Lane in the finals of the title tourny.

That's the one. During the Abdullah/Shiek match in Lowell, they sent a bunch of local guys I knew out to the ring to break it up. Shiek, who had razor blades taped to his fingertips, started slashing everyone in sight as they tried to get into the ring.
