I don't know how many times I have read on hear of a worker schooling a fan on how to be a fan. I just shake my head and laugh. We are told who and why which wrestler to like. So how many shows dose it take to be a proper fan? I would say that the most of the Fans on here have gone to a very large number of shows over the course of time. So do we need are hands held on here on who to root for or what not to say on a message board? NO!Stand on your own two feet and be the fan you want to be. Shit I had people in the biz personally contact me to tell me that i should not of posted things in the past because this and that was making them or the "biz" look bad. Give me a break and grow a set.

Myself I take everything said on here by a worker or promoter as 100% a work. It is the safe way to go. But what gets my goat is when these so call workers who use fake names and try to work us fans over. Do you find the need to stroke your own pecker and try to work us fans? Don't you realize we pay every weekend to get worked. This is just a message board and we don't care. You are just wasting your own lube on us.

I'm not sure what brought on Dave's rant. It's certainly interesting, though.

Hehe. FF. Very Happy

I obviously meant its brutally hot in here, like a sauna. People used to lose weight by sitting in boxes, w steam in there, like a "private steam room". What did they call those then?

I've been to a wrestling show and I won't name names but fans were cheering for some heels and the ring announcer was like no he's the bad guy! WTF? This kept going on the whole night and the announcer was giving the fans the cut it out sign! WTF? Unbelievable!

Ive never had this happen to me, but, some people I know have. I cheer who i want based on my criteria, not because he is a heel or face or someone tells me to.

This is an old topic. The wrestlers expect/hope to get a certain face/heel reaction. It kinda defeats the purpose to go against that, but like others have posted, there are a few guys I still do that with, go "against the grain".

I never really care if fans root the bad guy on my shows. If it happens frequently with the same guy, I try to watch most or all of his match live (you can't get the "feel" from taped footage). After that, I either talk to the guy about seeing what we can do to get the right reaction we're looking for or if I feel the "tide" of how people react to him is too strong, I'll flip him. I usually prefer option #1, because you should be able to make people react in a manner that you want them to...it's the hardest and greatest part of "the art".

The only time I get pissy about fan reaction is if you have a loud group of assholes who swear and act boorishly when you have a lot of kids in the crowd. Loud is fine, but if all you wanted to do is act like a dickhead that night...you could stay home and save money. Why bother spending money on a ticket?

On the other hand, if I've advertised some type of violent match and the parents brought a bunch of kids despite the rather obvious advertising hints I put out though...fuck it. The near promise of blood is ALWAYS going to bring out a rougher element and/or attitude.

On a different night at a different show my buddy and I wanted to try cheering for the bad guys and boo the good guys! We did and it caught on with the crowd for the last match. It was tag team match! The good guys got on the middle ropes and motioned the crowd to cheer and we all booed! The bad guys did the same thing and we all cheered. This went on for a few times and all four guys in the ring were shaking there heads like WTF is going on! Funny stuff! We never did it again though!

I agree with Mav's mantra that you can't push the river when it comes to fans and who they like and who they hate. I was at a show in Cleveland and the heel earlier in the show had been given a plate of clams to eat by a face as a show of good faith. During the heel's entrance, he was selling that he wasn't feeling good. When he got to the ring he was doubled over. The face get's the mic and asks what's wrong. The heel said "After those 5 or 6 Cleveland Steamers you gave me, i fee like I have to poop fire! It made me sick! From that moment on, the fans loved him. he couldn't be a heel if he blocked out the sun (sorry... Simpson's movie is on my TV).

You have to let the fans decide. From a booking perspective, it's easier b/c you're giving the fans what they want . From a promoter and worker perspective, giving the fans what they want = more asses in seat and more money.

Sorry if this post is a little incoherent. My AC is sputtering like Mav after meeting Kevin Sorbo at a Hercules convention.

There should be no rules. Cheer who you want, boo who you want. If the wrestler is good, they will solicit the response they want to solicit. Its like a standup comic, you don't do them any favors by laughing when it isn't funny.
