WWE Championship Match
Triple H defends against Edge - Typical Triple H main event. wish I could hear the commentary for this one. Terrible finish. Undertaker should have came back and cost Edge the title setting up a match for Summerslam. Vickie should reinstate the undertaker cause she wants to get back at edge.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
CM Punk defends against Batista - Crowd very anti Punk. Should have had a clean finish here. Kane getting involved was unnecessary in my opinion. The chokeslam to Punk and kicking the Camera man live was pretty awsome. I say they might set up a three way dance batista vs. kane vs. punk at Summerslam
ECW Championship Match
Mark Henry defends against Tommy Dreamer - Didn't see the finish coming. Great to see they gave the ECw title match 5 minutes.
WWE Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way
John Morrison & The Miz defend against Finlay & Hornswoggle, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder, and Jesse & Festus - Surprise ending. Great opening match. Crowd very heavily involved. Hornswoggle is wayyyyy over. With kids and adults. Same with finlay. Festus is wayyyy over with the kids as well. People love the biscuits and gravy.
New York City Parking Lot Brawl
John Cena vs. JBL - Crowd was into it in the beginning when they thought the match was going to start in the ring and carry out to the parking lot. Turns out it was actually being filmed in the parking garage under the Coliseum (Security guard told us) When the crowd realized that we basically paid to watch TV they started chanting boring and booing it...until JBL lit the car on fire. The place went nuts. Great moment, and i won't lie, was when Cena drove the forklift with JBL in the car into the arena. HOLY SHIT MOMENT: Cena being thrown off the stage through a window shield live was insane...GREAT TO SEE CENA JOB TO JBL
Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho - In line for the entire time at the consession stand. Lines were moving at a snail's pace. Really upset i did not get to see any of this match. Kind of taints my overall opinion on the show.
WWE Divas Championship Match
Michelle McCool vs. Natalya - Same as above. In line at the conessions stand. I felt like asking for the manager.
US Title Match
Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin - Possibly MOTN. Great false finishes. Crowd was heavy into this match. Chanting 'Let's Go Hardy!' only to be opposed by thunderous chants of 'Let's go Shelton!' Unsuspected finish which the crowd enjoyed. More cheering than booing for the new US Champion. At this point I thought the PPV was going to deliver top to bottom. However, after this match the ppv took a dive and the crowd seemed bored. |
I ordered this on ppv, first time I've ordered a wrestling event in a while. It wasn't worth $40 - I don't think WWE is capable of putting on an event that is, 40 bucks is just too much money - but I though it was a good show and was happy I ordered it.
You missed the best match in Y2J vs HBK. It wasn't half as action packed as it would have been 5-10 years ago, but it was designed to tell a certain story and it did so perfectly. This match should go a long way toward elevating Jericho as a major heel. He basically massacred HBK, very bloodily.
Btw it's also become obvious that HBK is losing his hair in a serious way. If it wasn't for the long haired combover he'd be looking like Ole Anderson on top.
The parking lot brawl was hurt on ppv by the decision to present it without commentary. These type of matches are tough to get over as it is because of the lack of a live crowd to feed off of. Take away the announcers'' reactions as well and the result is 2 guys killing themselves and coming across very flat anyway. It also made zero sense not to have blood on this match. An elbow can make a guy bleed badly enough that they have to stop the match [HBK], yet someone doesn't get cut from being thrown through a car window?? Poor internal logic here.
Punk vs Batista was a classic WWE "bury the champion" type match. I haven't seen a world champion made to looks this weak since, well, Y2J back when he was the Unified World Champion. However if you ignored the stupid booking, this was a pretty good match, which is saying something considering who was in it.
I understand the reason why they have Vicky Guerrerro on tv, but she's an awful performer and ugly to boot. There, I said it. I was a little surprised that HHH retained, I figured with another kid on the way very soon now that they might have him lose so he could be home. This is an example of when knowing 'inside' stuff is probably a bad thing. Or maybe not, since it made the finish a little more surprising. Looks they are fixing to turn Edge into The Man Without A Country….which it would seem would lead to a face turn by default unless they have him do something REALLY heinous to keep himself hated. |

Vickie should not be on TV. Her character stinks, and she can't act. Edge hasn't been interesting in a while.
I think Punk would make a better heal champion than a face champion, but that really isn't saying much. Only they have a bunch of face challengers, and it would be better for him to cheat and retain, rather than have outside interference to retain. |

Yes, but then they might accidentally make him look good, or at least capable, and that clearly isn't the goal here.
Punk is a great a**hole heel but an 'eh' babyface. |

Like always, women's division matches are complete shit.
Natalya should have won, I'm sick of this "Have one wrestler dominate the match, then have the other pull a surprise move out of their ass and win" booking. I wouldn't have minded had they made it look more back and forth but they did the "SURPRISE!" bullshit. |
