Yesterday, there were a couple of stations on Route 114A in Seekonk, MA (exit 1 off I-195...Citgo and Shell) that were charging $3.89 for self-serve regular. Also, for some reason, gas stations in New Bedford, MA tend to be a few cents cheaper than Fall River, Dartmouth, Westport, etc. |

DeWitt, New York (WSYR-TV) - There are some signs of improvement in prices at the gas pump. Another drop in oil prices Tuesday - the fourth in five trading sessions - dropped a barrel of oil $20 in just a week and a half.
It's starting to help us at the pumps, but most say not fast enough.
We caught up with some people pleased with the drop at one Marcellus gas station, where on Tuesday a gallon of gas could be had for $3.99.
"As more supplies come in, and we use up some of the older supplies, you'll see prices moderate a little more, but as long as there is demand and they can sell it for $4.15, they will," says Syracuse University economics professor Michael Wasylenko.
Folks at the Marcellus Mobil were both surprised and quite happy to see prices drop to $3.99 a gallon.
"How sad is it that it's a good surprise to be $3.99 a gallon,” says driver Adrienne Thousand.
Even though prices are going down, they never seem to drop quite as quickly as they go up. Wasylenko says there's two factors at play; oil companies are still paying the same for refining costs, and as long as there is demand, they're going to try to make money off it. |
