Manlius, NY -- The mug shots of Barenaked Ladies singer and guitarist Steven J. Page, girlfriend Christine Benedicto and Stephanie M. Ford were released today by the Manlius Police Department in response to a Freedom of Information Law request by The Post-Standard.

Page, 38, of Toronto, was arrested Friday morning on a felony drug charge in Benedicto's Fayetteville apartment. Benedicto, 27, of 311 E. Genesee St., was arrested later Friday morning after drugs were found in her apartment during a search by Manlius police. She is facing a misdemeanor drug charge and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Page was arrested with Ford, Benedicto's roommate, about 2:10 a.m. Friday. Ford, 25, faces a felony drug charge and a marijuana violation.

Police witnessed suspicious activity through a window of the apartment and were let in by Ford, Capt. Bill Bleyle, of the Manlius police, said.

According to court papers, Page was in possession of more than a quarter ounce of cocaine.

It was the policy of the Manlius police not to release mug shots to the media until The Post-Standard made an argument for the release Wednesday in its FOIL request.

Fayetteville, NY -- Steven Page, a singer and guitarist with the band Barenaked Ladies, had more than a quarter-ounce of cocaine in his possession when he was arrested Friday in Fayetteville, according to court papers.

Page, 38, of Toronto, Canada, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, said Manlius police Capt. Bill Bleyle.

Page had possession of a plastic bottle labled calcium capsules with 10 capsules inside, according to the complaint against Page at the Fayetteville Village Court. In addition, there was a capsule on the kitchen table at the 311 E. Genesee St. address where Page was arrested, documents state.

Two more capsules were found in Page's right front pants pocket, the documents state. In all, there was 0.3 ounces of cocaine in Page's possession, court documents state.

Page was visiting Christine Benedicto, 27, of 311 E. Genesee St., Apt. 1, Bleyle said. The two argued and Benedicto left the apartment before police arrived. She was later charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Stephanie M. Ford, 25, also of 311 E. Genesee St., Apt. 1, was in the apartment with Page and was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, Bleyle said.

The band, formed more than 15 years ago in Toronto, has performed several times in Central New York. Its shows include an impromptu performance in 2002 at Syracuse University for VH1.

Barenaked Ladies manager Terry McBride confirmed Tuesday that Page was charged but would not comment further on the case.

"We are confident Steven will be completely exonerated," he said.

Manlius police were on patrol at 2:04 a.m. Friday when they saw Benedicto's car parked across the sidewalk in front of the home with the door open, Bleyle said. An officer looked up the license plate information and realized the car belonged at 311 E. Genesee St.

Police went to the apartment and saw Page and Ford at the kitchen table with what later tested positive for cocaine, Bleyle said.

After further investigation, police charged Benedicto at 8:11 a.m. Friday because they found a small quantity of cocaine and marijuana in the apartment.

All three were arraigned before Manlius town Justice Salvatore A. Pavone on Friday. Pavone set bail for Page at $10,000 and $5,000 for Ford, Bleyle said. Both made bail.

All three are due back in court Thursday.

Page's arrest was widely reported in the Canadian media.

Page is one of the founders of the Barenaked Ladies and has often lent his name to a number of causes, including animal rights and fighting the sniffles in Africa, said Guy Dixon, an arts journalist with Toronto's Globe and Mail newspaper.

"He's very well known in Canada," Dixon said.

"He's a figurehead for the band," Dixon said. "If anyone speaks, it's usually him."

It's been one week since you looked at me
Cocked your head to one side and said I'm angry
Five days since you laughed at me saying
Get that together, come back and see me
Three days since the living room
I realized it's all my fault, but couldn't tell you
Yesterday you'd forgiven me
But it'll still be two days till I say "I'm sorry"

Hold it now and watch the Hoodwink
As I make you stop, think.
You'll think you're lookin' at Aquaman
I summon fish to the dish,
Although I like the Chalet Swiss
I like the sushi 'cause its ever touched a frying pan
Hot like Wasabe when I bust rhymes
Big like LeAnn Rimes
Because I'm all about value
Bert Kaempfort's got the mad hits
You try to match wits, you try to hold me
But I bust through.
Gonna make a break and take a fake,
I'd like a stinkin' achin' shake
I like vanilla, its the finest of the flavors
Gotta see the show, 'cause then you'll know
The vertigo is gonna grow
Cause its so dangerous,
you'll have to sign a waiver

How can I help if I think you're funny when you're mad
Tryin' hard not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean? Well, you soon will
I have the tendancy to wear my mind on my sleeve
I have a history of taking off my shirt

It's been one week since you looked at me
Threw your arms in the air and said you're crazy
Five days since you tackled me,
I've still got the rug burns on both my knees
It's been three days since the afternoon
You realized its not my fault, not a moment too soon
Yesterday you'd forgiven me,
And now I sit back and wait till you say "you're sorry"

Chickity China the Chinese chicken
Have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin'
Watchin X-Files with no lights on
We're dans la maison
I hope the Smoking Man's in this one
Like Harrison Ford I'm gettin frantic
Like Sting, I'm tantric
Like Snickers, guaranteed to satisfy
Like Kurasswa, I make mad films
Okay I dont make films,
But if I did, they'd have a Samurai
Gonna get a set a' better clubs
Gonna find the kind with the tiny nubs,
Just so my irons aren't always flying off the back-swing
Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon
Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes
That make me think the wrong thing

How can I help if I think you're funny when you're mad
Tryin' hard not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean?
Well, you soon will
I have the tendancy to wear my mind on my sleeve
I have a history of losing my shirt

Its been one week since you looked at me
Dropped your arms to the sides and said "I'm sorry"
Five days since I laughed at you and said
"You just did just what I thought you were gonna do"
Three days since the living room,
We realized we were both to blame, but what could we do?
Yesterday you just smiled at me
Cause we still got two days till we say "we're sorry"
It'll still be two days till we say "we're sorry",
It'll still be two days till we say "we're sorry",
