Live thoughts
Heartbreak Enterprises proclaimed before match #1that Go would take the FIP title to Japan. The British Lions were an impressive team. Match was decent.
Mercedes/Lee was honestly pretty dead in the crowd’s eyes. Another decent match.
Sal came out with the YRR to say that he was offering a title shot to the best in Florida, bringing out Chris Jones. Jones put up a good fight but came up short.
Chasyn stayed out to wrestle and was wearing new tights. Osbourne kept saying to Chasyn, “you owe me.” (Probably in regards to Chasyn getting the fluke win last month.) Match was pretty dull.
Aries & Blade put on a good match. Blade had told the rest of the YRR before the match to go to the back and felt bad about it afterwards when Aries came out.
DCFC/Market was not a great blowoff. Machete at one point dropped Chavis right on his head with a botched powerbomb. The usual Market weapons match. Mercedes Martinez got involved when Shawn Murphey got handcuffed to the ropes, until she revealed that she was with DCFC. I am very happy that DCFC got the win as I was almost 100% sure that they would lose.
Roderick & Kenny wrestled for about 16 minutes in a better match than Aries/Blade. One problem that I had with it was around the 10-minute mark, Roderick had trouble getting Kenny up for the gutbuster, yet around the finish, he was able to get him up with no problem. Without this little issue, this was a very good match, and King is on a roll.
Black came out and mentioned how Jacobs texted him telling him to take out Necro. The two brawled around the building quite a bit. I would like to mention that the referee for this match (Les Anderson) is one of the worst refs ever. At one point, Black was choking Necro in the corner and was giving Black until 5 to get out of the corner…but somehow it is OK to brawl around the ring and use chairs? Anyway, Black won with God’s Last Gift through a folded chair in a fun brawl.
Go and Stevens was a definite MOTYC (and my second pick for MOTY for FIP this year), going nearly 30 minutes. In the closing minutes, it felt especially perfect. Unfortunately in the last 30 seconds, HBE got involved with Sean hitting a big splash on Stevens, and Go got the pin with a moonsault. Definitely a must-see match.
This show was about as good as last month, if not slightly better for how good the main event was. It bothers me that the YRR/AOTF program has kind of fallen into sheer nothing-ness, but I would definitely check out this show. For those that like star rankings
