Seeing how I couldn't get out of work until 9:00, I missed most of the show. I did catch the last two matches though. Was cool seeing Rachel, Kaz, jd, and tnaholic again.
Slyck Wagner Brown beat Eddie Edwards by submission to keep the 2CW title. I showed up just as this was starting. Awesome back and forth match. At one point, Eddie did a dive onto Slyck into the crowd and I thought they were going to fall into the harbor.
And in the main event, Scotty 2 Hotty beat Jason Axe after doing the Worm. Scotty did all of his traqdmark stuff. Gordy Wallace came out and tried to attack Scotty with his cane, only for Scotty to duck and Axe take the shot. Afterwards, Axe and Wallace tried to do a 2 on 1 beatdown on Scotty, but Loca Vida and The Blue Meanie came in for the save. Afterward, Scotty, Loca & Meanie danced for the crowd.
That's pretty much all I got. I'm sure Kaz or jd will be able to give the rest of the results. |

Any reason for the short recap? Now, if I did it, or some others who post on here, itd be like "Just reply when someone posts a full recap"...
Since u did post it tho, Scotty puts me to sleep w that move, but he is a crowd pleaser. How does the "2CW crowd" react to him?
Edwards and Slyck could have a really good match in their sleep. Two of the best in the Northeast Indies, for sure. |

No, what I meant was, if someone else posted a recap on a part of a show to begin a thread, they'd prob get the "Why bother with that, just reply line". Not the boards star tho, Mr Enforcer..
I did read how you had to work. Sorry if that part of my orig reply was misunderstood.
I figured it'd be casuals. I hope to be able someday to see a regular 2CW event, depending on how things work out. Thanks for the info enforcer. |

Yes, Frankie is awesome. He's a tremendous in ring talent, and by all accounts, a really cool person too. |

The first match of the night was Isys Ephex verse Frankie Arion. This was a perfectly solid opener to get the crowd over to the event from the other activities going on. I'm not sure what to make of Arion yet. The crowd seems to like him, but at the same time, like to make fun of him as well. He's a talented little guy, but his hulking up in the middle of the match is a little hard to take. It was a weird match that saw Isys go out of his way to show respect to Arion. These two had a good match with lot of counters until Isys took control. Ephex dominated the match until Frankie began his Ultimate Warrior like comeback. Eventually, he would hit a frog splash and picked up the upset win. Apparently, on Isys Ephex' myspace this week he posted something about 9/11 being an inside job. I never saw it, so I don't know what it said. I mention this because after the match Arion grabbed some t-shirts that he and Isys put on. They proclaimed that 9/11 was an inside job and other junk written on it. I'm not going into a political rant here, but people can think whatever they want; however, these two guys should be careful not turn fans away with the ideas of nut job conspiracy people. It kind of ruined the vibe the crowd had going, even for me, one of Isys' biggest fans. It's not good when your fans are calling your new team "The Inside Jobbers".
Up next was the classic tag match between The Killer Steves and Loca Vida and The Blue Meanie. Originally scheduled was JD Love as Loca's partner, but the change made sense. The match started off with a good, old-fashioned dance off. Once the match started, the comedy continued with the Steves trying to get Loca into a test of strength. Of course, Vida misinterpreted that as them wanting to give the Mexican a hi-five. The match eventually broke down into a real match that saw both Loca Vida and Steve McKenzie hitting body presses from the top rope to the floor. Despite the Steves controlling most of the match, it was a combination of a Meanie Stunner into a 315 into a Meanie Splash that sealed the Steves' fate. After the match, again, there was showing of respect by both teams. They all danced to end the segment.
The teacher verses the student match was next as Zaquary Springate III wrestled his protégé J. Freddy. Freddy coming out to new music, the Who's Baba O'Riley, had new tights that inspired the chant of Freddy Jannetty. Springate, now a red-hot baby face, came out to a nice reception from the growing crowd. The student learned a very valuable lesson right at the start of the match; never turn your back on your opponent. When Freddy decided to jump on the middle rope to get some appreciation from the crowd, ZS3 pulled him down, rolled him up, and pinned the rookie in a very short match. After celebrating a little, Springate informed Freddy of his mistake and told him he would give him another shot. If one day J. Freddy goes onto do something special with his career, or if he sputters out after a couple years, this match may be the one he remembers most. As really his first official singles match, that wasn't an impromptu outing, he can always remember he went out with his teacher and had a nice little match. I said in the preview that Springate should keep it serious for the sake of Freddy's education, and that is exactly what he did. Springate was bumping around the ring like was he trying to make a Tony Atlas match look good. You could really tell he was going out of his way to put his student on a pedestal for all to see. In the end, the right man won. It was more competitive than I thought it was going to be, but it didn't hurt Freddy in the least. After Springate pinned Freddy with his version of the swaton bomb, he gave the kid a big hug. Like a beaming parent, Springate picked Freddy up and led the crowd in applauding his student's efforts.
The Sandman was up next. Oh I'm sorry, the Hardcore Icon, Gordy was up next. He came out through the crowd and entertained the masses with his drunken act. When Johnny Law accosted him, Gordy attacked him with his Singapore cane. Gordy then threatened to take out his big stick and urinate in the ring. At this point, J.D. Love came out and asked Rob, as he called him, to go to the back to have a couple of drinks. JD, not learning the lesson of J. Freddy, turned his back on Gordy and was attacked. A hardcore match began. While they started a little slow, things picked up with the use the cane, some chairs, and a barbed wire baseball bat. Gordy ended up putting Love through a table propped up in one of the corners and Love ended up pushing Gordy off a ladder in the ring, through a table on the floor. Kind of. Because he had too many pre-match beers, Gordy fell off the ladder into the ropes, tumbling to the apron, and then through the table. He did go through the table, though, and that's all that really mattered. The end of the match came when Gordy hit his version of the White Russian Leg Sweep for the win.
The match for the 2CW Heavyweight Title was next between the Champion Slyck Wagner Brown and Eddie Edwards. This match started off slow and it built and built until the crowd was buzzing with anticipation of the next move. They started off trading holds. Then it started getting more physical with the punches and stiff suplexes. It would eventually make its way out to the floor, where Eddie hit a suicide dive that drove both Eddie and Slyck over the guardrail and into the fans. Towards the end, the close two counts made it seem like Eddie may actually take the title. However, Slyck captured Eddie in a Texas Clover Leaf that made Eddie eventually tap. It was the great example of the action 2CW could provide that I was hoping they would put on.
The final match of the night was the encounter between Jason Axe and Scotty 2 Hotty. This one was for all the young kids in the crowd. Scotty provided the action you would expect from him. He wrestled a little bit, he danced a little bit, and he made Jason Axe look great. Axe held up his end of the match as well. He kept it competitive and kept up with Scotty throughout the match. The end came when the referee took a hard fall and Gordy returned to the ring. Unfortunately for Axe, Gordy missed Scotty with the cane and clabbered Axe. One face buster and a mighty worm and Scotty 2 Hotty was victorious. Axe and Gordy weren't done as they attacked Scotty after the match. Loca Vida and the Blue Meanie returned to make the save. They sent the crowd home happy with a throwback to the days of 2 Cool. They danced the night away and the crowd enjoyed every minute of it.
Overall, the Free show in Syracuse was a lot of fun. If you missed out on it, then you missed out on a great show. Utica is up next on next Saturday. Its only ten dollars and it should be another great outing by 2CW. Don't miss it. |

Well.... Syracuse is very far! I-90 is very complicated. For a highway that keeps going, you have to get off 3 exits on the same highway to stay on I-90 while passing through multiple toll plaza's even though you never get off the road. Easy drive, just, LONG. I-90 is DULL and boring. After 4.5 hours, we arrived, well, near Syracuse. We stopped for some Hut Dogs, but, one of my passengers just got french fries.... We stopped near a large lake, that, ended up smelling of dead fish. JD then took us to where the pastime athletic club is, 2CW home venue, which, is next to a strip club. Then off to the wing fest.
After parking down the street we checked the festival out. If you liked wings, food in general, tobacco and motorcycles, this was for you. It was a nice day and the event was well set up, with a live rock and or roll band playing. The ring was set up on the opposite side of the harbor outside.
The line was very VERY long by 6:45 and id say when they let us in at 7:05, there was 100 or so in line. Scotty 2 Hotty and The Blue Meanie were at the merch table doing there thang. No chairs (you could bring your own) so it was a lot of standing. The event started promptly at 8pm
Frankie and Isys was very solid. Frankie is on a win streak in 2CW and hopefully may be a #1 contender for the strap. I dont get these "conspiracy theory" shirts and it isnt something i can get behind.
Tag Comedy match with The Killer Steves vs Meanie and Loca was, a comedy match. Not overdone and was very funny. Crowd was very into Meanie even after all these years.
Springgate vs J Freddie was solid. One of the guys who came with us didnt like it, but, i felt it was a great teacher vs student bout. Springgate is a big mother f'er and looks in great shape.
The knockoff Sandman gimmick is hilarious! The match though, was a bit long. Some good spots, but, it felt like it was just spot after spot with no end. After 2 table spots, ladder, kendo stick, chairs and etc.... it ended with a white russian leg sweep. It was fun, just a bit long.
MOTN was Slyck Wagner Brown (c) vs Eddie Edwards.... classic wrestling action. These 2 started of feeling each other out, testing each others skills and trying to out do each other. After a while, they both got sick of it and went at it full force with no stopping. Then Eddie did a sick dive into Slyck which had such force it put them deep into the crowd. An amazing match all together. Respect was shown at the end of this one.
In all the years, and all the shows this man has done.... ive NEVER seen Scotty 2 Hotty on a indy show. He is in fantastic shape and looks better then he did in the WWE. The match vs Jason Axe was alright. Axe isnt, IMO, a main event guy, but, did well with the veteran. I was a bit shocked to see a ref bump in a Scotty match, but, made it interesting. Yes, we got the worm! Some of the 2CW regulars cheered for Jason Axe... im not sure that will happen anytime soon, lol.
Got the DVD of the last Binghamton show (and thanks for 2CW for putting Instant Classic Photography's photos on the cover and the back jacket) and also got to meet Scotty 2 Hotty who was very collegial.
This was absolutely worth my ride. From the confusing I-90 layout, to Will trying to smoke a cigar to a fantastic 5 star heavyweight title match to jd making restaurants appear out of thin air, it was one heck of a trip. I may go to the Oct show, but, I hope they can run Binghamton in November.
If you HAVENT seen 2CW, see it. Its not a recommendation, its a requirement.
Photos up sometime today/tonight. |

hehe, that was me. i hate I-90 West. 14 miles or more between every exit and absolutely NOTHING to see. Thankfully I had my IPod :]

not me. i actually liked this match.
2cw is definitly becoming a favorite. Seeing Scotty 2 Hotty is always a blast, and he looked awesome. I've never seen Blue Meanie before, so that was actually really cool. I throughly enjoy the Killer Steves. Slyck is a FANTASTIC champion.
i enjoyed my first trip to syracuse, and i also enjoyed getting no sleep! |

swb is awesome, but anyone wearing their belt to the ring or in the ring in this way needs a swift kick in the balls for being a jackass. |
