| This movie is awesome. Strap yourself in for a thrillride that takes superhero movies to a new level. Will Smith proves that he's still got it. Witness Will Smith as John Hancock. He's a regular guy for the most part except that he has super powers. He's super strong and can fly but he has no idea why or where he came from. Due to the damage he causes the city while trying to save it the city turns their backs on him and want to lock him up and throw away the key until he saves the life of a public relations executive played by Jason Bateman. Bateman decides to pay Hancock back for saving him by clearing his name and getting the public to treat him as a hero instead of an outcast. This movie is a rollercoaster of plot twists and action that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Plot holes although visible are minor and easily overlooked. I recommend this movie to superhero fans, Will Smith fans and anyone in need of a good action adventure. 7.5 out of 10. |
The problem I have with Will Smith is that in nearly all of his movies, he plays the same charachter. As one of my wrestling students put it sarcasticly, "Yeah, but Mav-THIS time he plays a wise ass".
Early on, I saw him in a much smaller movie (6 degrees of seperation I believe) that he was good in. |
I AM LEGEND was a pretty dire movie [they destroyed the source material, as usual], but Smith was very good in it. He gets stuff to do other than playing The Will Smith Character, and acquits himself very well. The man can definitely act, unfortunately he isn't usually called upon to do so.
HANCOCK is horrible. Half of it is a semi-decent comedy then it turns on a dime and becomes a truly awful Mythic Drama. |

I didn't like I am Legend, but not because of Will Smith. I too was annoyed they shat all over the original story. That, and I hate the over use of CGI. I'm a big believer in the theory Bruce Campbell proposed-why use computers to make what is just as hokey looking in a rubber suit? |

Did you even watch the fucking movie?
Plot Summary from IMDB -
| Quote: |
| Based on a true story about a man named Christopher Gardner. Gardner has invested heavily in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner". He feels like he has made these devices. However, they do not sell as they are marginally better than the current technology at a much higher price. On top of that, one of these does not work. As Gardner tries to figure out on how to fix the faulty one and sell the others, his wife leaves him, he loses his house, his bank account, and credit cards. Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job; he takes on a job as a stockbroker, but before he can receive pay, he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices. |
