Quote:
John Cena is nursing a serious neck injury that is causing numbness in one of his arms, according to the Wrestling Observer and PWInsider websites. He had an MRI on Saturday before the New York house show and told people his neck is "f---ed up badly," according to the Observer. He is not advertised as working tonight on Raw, but he is still listed for the WWE Unforgiven main event.

Agreed - a HUGE blow for Raw. Couldn't get much worse. And he's out indefinetly too. Without Orton and Cena Raw is going to be really lackluster. Only two good things IMHO are Jericho/Michaels and Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase, Jr. Oh and Santino.

I thought he and Batista worked well together and had a great match at SS. I'll definetly miss him on Raw. Best of luck to him and hope he comes back soon, but at 100% and doesn't rush it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

WHY WHY WHY WHY

On a serious note, outside of Khali and Santino, Cena has been my favorite part of the WWE for a while.

Quote:
In great news for WWE, John Cena's surgery was a success today and the new prognosis is that he'll be able to return within two to four months. He didn't require fusion surgery, they just removed a fragment from his spinal cord that was blocking a nerve. Dr. Joseph Maroon told WWE.com that he was very positive about how the hour and a half operation went.

John Cena Returning Way Sooner Than Expected
Date Added: August 26, 2008
Story By: Marc Middleton

- Dr. Maroon, who operated on John Cena's injured neck earlier today in Pittsburgh, told WWE's website that Cena will be able to start working out next week. The former WWE Champion is expected to be back in the ring within 2-4 months.

The earliest he's expected back is the Survivor Series pay-per-view, which is in his hometown of Boston, MA or the Royal Rumble 2009 at the latest.

Fuck.

I don't wish injury on anyone but I was hoping that the one good thing that would come about from this is that I wouldn't have to see him on RAW for at least a year.

That's not my remote control. Don't even PRETEND you know what my remote control looks like!

And I do change the channel or fast forward when he's on, but I prefer to just to not have to.

Too bad the internet wasn't around during Bruno's first title reign. Imagine all the crying that could have taken place.

I've been in the ring John Cena; that guy works his balls off, and has earned his spot. It's not his fault he has that stunning cleft chin that drives the ladies wild.

It's not his workrate that bothers me. He's in WWE and I know they never want anyone in the midcard or higher but Regal to do more than 30 seconds of solid technical work per match.

I just don't like when he's cutting promos... or acting...

Before you start dissing Cena's promos, go check out Bob Backlund's promos over here:

Then again...very few people do it (wrestle) believably enough to make it work or have those incredible facial expressions and selling that Regal does, so what would be the point?

The promo's are written for him (which I find annoying, as "the greats" all shot from the hip), so to a large degree he has nothing to do with the material. His delivery is fine-he can't help it if the stuff they feed him sucks.

On a personal note...I hate the word "workrate", possibly more than the snowflake rating system for matches. Either you work hard or you don't. I'm not saying it's wrong, but I cringe when I see/hear that word.

Unfortunately, as I've mentioned before, most people on here think a worker sucks if he can't do twenty gazillion moves during a match, regardless of the effort said worker puts in.

Well whether he does it or the writers make him do it, it irritates me.

I also don't like how much his merchandise is pushed... It reminds me of Hulk Hogan and I always liked Savage as a little kid.

He's the top babyface. When Savage WAS in that position, they didn't push the Young Stallions gear either.

Paul Roma and Jim Powers wearing the much sought after Young Stallions gear.

Well I also don't like how lately Cena's still been main-eventing while the brand champion's been mid-carded and sometimes the first match of the broadcast.

Now I don't really care for CM Punk (I don't like him, I don't hate him, the best way to put it is I just don't "get" him) but I like the idea of the belt being parked with someone else for a while and seeing where they go with it. And I've just always felt that nothing should top the top-rank belt on a show (except maybe the tag team belts if there's a pretty hot tag team division, which WWE does not have). But I'm getting too parenthetical here, back on track.

So my point is that I don't like how he always seems to be in the spotlight, even when it shouldn't be his moment. Whether or not that's politicking or him being pimped out by WWE, it bothers me.
