on TNA's website, its says Have A Nice Day with Mick Foley's signature smiley face wrapped in barbed wire, which makes Foley in TNA official. TNA has in my opinion 5 money matches with Foley, and that's against Joe, Angle, Styles, Sting, and Abyss.

Yeah Foley vs. the Mankind ripoff would be interesting.

Q: What has 400 feet and 3 teeth?
A: The first row of the bleachers at Yankee Stadium.

Abyss if far from a Mankind ripoff...the only similarity is the slight resemblance of the masks.

So much flesh...so little time.

and chances are that TNA will do all 5 of those matches within Foley's first 2 months with the company, then he'll just fade into bolivian

Yeah Foley never did the tortured soul ripping his own hair out thing in the boiler room. I forgot that Abyss is completely original and that no one has in wrestling has ever ripped off a gimmick from anyone else.

My mistake.

Well on some levels they are the same but I wouldn't exactly call him a ripoff. It's more along the lines of Rene Dupree and Rick Martel not a ripoff but pretty much the same. New Diesel and Razor now those were ripoffs

I hope Foley does have some matches in TNA, but at this point in his career I wonder how many he is willing to do. On the otherhand I would be content with Foley replacing Don West on Commentary. Although at this point I'll take anyone to replace DW.

My Gimmicks:

10/04: PGW Battlefield:Fairfield II
10/10: RingRoast I w/ Iron Sheik
10/11: Legends of the Ring VII w/ Flair
10/24: ROH @ Danbury PAL

How so?

Foley hasn't been anything or even a draw since his career match with Triple H.

I beg to differ.

Using the element of a gimmick such as Mankind is nothing like Rene Dupree and Rick Martel.

Mankind and Abyss are both "monsters" and Abyss wears a mask very similar to Foley's original Mankind character. Even Abyss old ring attire was very similar. It is a ripoff no matter how you try to spin it.

I personally like Abyss. I have seen him live a few times and even got to meet him once. Nothing at all against Chris Park but Abyss was not original at all. He has since added depth to the gimmick.

I stand by my original statement.

I think bringing in Foley will help them but I think they are making a big mistake by leaving the young guys behind while constantly trying to pick up guys who are burned out from WWE or just at the end of their careers.

ECW got put on the map by Terry Funk and WCW got put back on the map by Hulk Hogan. TNA is trying to redo that. Will it work? probably not but anything is better than their current product

Mick Foley is NOT Hulk Hogan. But TNA is too similar to the old WCW. They seem to want to make the same old mistakes.

The problem is that they focus too much on being the next WCW and they should focus more on being the First TNA. ROH in the early days was referenced as the next ECW which was not true anyway but they focused on being an original and thus they are the third major brand ala ECW. If TNA would be original then maybe they would become a major player until then they will always be a big budget indy fed

I think both of you seem to be forgetting that TNA tried bringing in Hogan before, and it did nothing to increase interest.

I was using Hogan as a metaphore.

I knew what he meant with the Hogan example.

And you're right Volture, they need to be original. It worked for them for years but as they grew they wanted to be WCW. Booker T even said when he got to TNA that it felt like being in the old WCW locker room. Meaning that it wasn't as high stress and messed up as WWE. But a lot of workers have said that TNA reminds them of WCW including Tenay and Borash.

Q: What has 400 feet and 3 teeth?
A: The first row of the bleachers at Yankee Stadium.

TNA needs the likes of Steve Austin or the Rock... never going to happen, but they need someone that fans will flock to see in massive numbers.

HBK is the only guy from the WWE I could see making a difference, but he's WWE until the day he dies.

Foley will help TNA out. He's the go to guy when you want to put over younger guys or help create new stars.

The reason Vince was able to dominate with the WWE was because the WW(F)E was started when the country was divided up into territories and he bought most of them out. These days it's going to be difficult to start up a wrestling promotion and become the next WWE/WCW sized promotion unless you have the funds of a billionaire.

For TNA the climb will be far more difficult. At the moment I'm far more entertained by the big budget indy promotion that is TNA than the power hungry WWE.

Bob the Builder for President in 2012. "Can we fix it? Yes we can!"

ROH: TBA
NEW: TBA

I could've sworn Foley was an Irish name.
