Jake had come out, clearly drunk or drugged up, and grabbed the microphone during that match (completely unscripted as everyone could tell by the owner of firestorm coming out and trying to get Jake to go back in the dressing room. ) Jake was on the mic trying to encourage the guys in the ring, then he started swearing. the second to last match ended and it was time for the main event which was Jake vs Jt Lightning. JT came out, followed by Jake The Snake. Jake grabbed the microphone and at first said he came here to do this for the fans, But he didnt feel like we were giving him the same respect hes giving us. He started talking incoherently, it was obvious he was on something. after about 3 minutes of talking he put the mic down and staggered into the ring. JT attacked him to start the match. . Jake didnt sell one shot, he just backed into the corner and it seemed like he was out of it. JT Lightning clearly got pissed and just pushed Jake to the ground and got on top of him to cover him and just end the match within 30 seconds of the start. Jake was trying to kick up. JT pushed his arms down and the ref just did a 3 count to end the match because Jake was in no shape to wrestle a match. Afterwards JT Lightning grabbed the microphone and said along the lines of "I've wrestled with drug addicts like Tommie Rich, Jimmy Snuka but you are by far the biggest piece of shit I've ever been in the ring with/" JT was literally shooting on Jake. Jake just stood in the ring and flipped JT off. Another Firestorm wrestler J Rocc came in after that match was over and attempted to give the crowd a show by doing an attack on Jake so the fans wouldnt be as pissed off about the main event lasting a whole 30 seconds. Which Jake also curled in the corner and no sold. That made J rocc mad who then tried to actually fight Jake. A wrestler named Ray Rowe came out and was trying to calm J rocc and JT down as Jake just stood in the middle of the ring flipping people off. Jake then proceded to pull his penis out and shake it in front of the whole crowd. Security and Ray Rowe were trying to keep the peace. The fans were asked to leave as the show had ended with this nonsense. Out in the parking lot about 15 minutes Jake apparently wound up fighting somebody backstage and there was concern that the angry wrestlers were going to gang up on him. At one point there was a bunch of the wrestlers and security out back, one screamed "Its going down. " in which they all ran inside. Im not sure what happened but I can only speculate that it was a fight involving Jake Roberts. Cops arrived after this along with an ambulance. The ambulance didnt take Jake away, but the police stayed and escorted Jake to a truck where he was given a ride from the building.

It hurts to see him keep doing stuff like this. He was a huge favorite of mine when I was little and when I saw him return to the WWE sobered up, I was glad he was getting things on track.

Then there was the relapse, the Heroes of Wrestling fiasco, and alot of crap between then and 07

THEN I heard he got entered into a rehab program that WWE was footing the bill for, so I felt he might get things straightened out this time.

So now this happens...

Wow... truely sad.... I thought Jake had cleaned himself up and ive heard at the past few shows he's done, he was not all drugged up or on the booze.

Wow, unbelievable. I heard that Jake was cleaning up but i guess i read wrong.

Sadly, this seems to be a never ending battle for Jake, which he may end up losing, hopefully not. Addiction is a terrible thing, and I was brought up to believe there was always answers to ones problems, not by compounding them, which addiction always does.

I don't respect drug addicts, drunks or the like, as to me it is a sound of serious weakness, yes, but to me, its more of what they do to others around them, friends, family, etc. Plus, Jake had the legion of fans who has let down.

Whether the man cares for himself, who knows. We can use the trite line " I hope he gets help, etc", but you need to be strong enough and want that help, and Jake doesn't seem to be. Very sad indeed.

Well its sad, yes, but guys like Jake and Sandman who have fallen into such bad habits, its hard to respect them much, at least to me. We all have problems, but this shit obviously just compounds problems, and creates a whole new set of them.

Well the difference is that Jake used to at least give the illusion of being clean. Therefore it's painful to watch this kind of stuff happen.

Sandman has made no illusions about his perpetual inebriation.

don't post much these days but there is two sides and heres a statement from Jakes peeps.
Jake was booked at a show this weekend in Cleveland. He went to this show, doing a live interview earlier in the morning for the promotion, that by all reports went very smoothly. His appearance at the show did not.

Before I tell you what I know about what happened to him at the show, and that knowledge is very limited, I was not there, I will tell you this. Jake's behavior would normally be construed as completely unacceptible. I understand from the promoter that he spend endless time wandering back and forth to the bar. Jake took his rehab from the WWE very seriously, and has not done such a thing in months, so this behavior made me really scratch my head as to the REASON. My sincere apologies go out to JC, the over the top kind natured promoter who did nothing to deserve this, and has been nothing but kind to Jake, and by association, myself as well. My sincere apologies to the fine fans of Cleveland, you did not deserve this at all.

That for this, again. Jake was given an open container of what he was told was a cold drink. That happened when he got to the venue. He remembers nothing between that time, and the time he woke up the next morning in the motel, alone, beaten, injured. I had a really fun time getting him back on the same page, by phone, to just get him to the airport to try to get back home. It was a constant string of conversation just to get him to MOVE. This is not how he behaves ever. On his worst days, Jake has always had total recall.

Jake was drugged. He has been home since Saturday afternoon about 4:30PM and up until last night about 8:30PM, had not eaten or slept. His standard answer for everything the last two days has been "I don't know.

That is the other side of the story, folks, believe it or not, it is certainly your choice. I'm dealing with the guy they sent home, and folks, it is frightening to both me, and to him, and really not much fun. To the guy's that did this, and I say this often when confronted with sub-human behavior, something I see far too often I'm sorry to say, God's a funny guy. You'll get yours, I have no doubt at all.

Whoa, someone drugged Jake so he would fall apart like this? Those are pretty serious accusations indeed, and I would assume criminal.

I actually kind of find that story believable, after seeing the Pick Your Poison dvd and hearing how the other wrestlers used to pull ribs by putting whiskey in his soda when he was trying stay clean and the like, it doesn't seem that far-fetched..

Honestly, when I first read this story, I thought it was a work, with some indy promoter trying to create a massive amount of shock value based on Jake's past to try to sell tickets to further shows by going the way of "How fucked up will Jake be next month?" But, this is a bit easier to swallow.

Considering Jake's past, and how he has for the most part owned up to his past mistakes...if he really was completely fucked up of his own accord at the show, he most likely would've issued an apology on the matter, not some wild accusations of being drugged.

Very good reasoning Captain. I hope its true, for Jake's sake, but someone else is really fucked up, if they think its "funny" to do that to a man, especially one with a past.

I usually don't post in this section because I don't follow the local indy scene, but I have to respond to this.

I lost respect for Jake after I saw Beyond The Mat. After that, he only made my decision easier with everything I read about him and the Legends Of Wrestling PPV incident. Then, a few years back when I was in Flordia, I attended at local indy show where he was in the main event. He left the building about an hour after intermission refusing to work. I found out later it was because the promoter refused to help him score some cocaine.

With that said, if someone did drug him and made him relapse, then that person should face charges after catching a beating from the workers on the show and that poor worker that had to deal with him. I am assuming that it was one of the workers who gave Jake the "mickey" if that story is true.

No matter who the person is, you just don't do something like that!

i can work with anyone, as long as they listen, but dude, wasnt havent it. so we make it back into the theatre where he starts to tell me what were gonna do again......which is NOTHING, like what we called earlier. then all of a sudden he spits out HIS FALSE TEETH!!!! they fall on the floor and hes out again. i look at vince and vince goes"theres ur boy!".... funny vince. so i grab my camera and take a picture of this. no one would believe this.....then during ray rowes entrance where he goes out with a posse, jake passes out on the floor and literally rolls over on his side and grabs one of the posses feet and holds on.....oh, boy.......i go tell jc whats going on and he calls his agent right then and there and was told"jake can still go when hes like that, dont worry"........what the fu##....then jake wakes up only to think its our turn and when i inform him we still had 45 minutes to go yet, he starts screaming" fu## him, im gonna kill him. motherfu##...." jake goes out to the commentators table and starts doing screwed up stuff on the mic telling the workers in the match to go for it, or some sh## like that. im not sure if he called shane taylor "N-WORD". but some say he did....he came back again in the back and he tells me, "just to kill me in the match, only if i dont kill you in 30 seconds, right now ." ok, now, im really getting pissed....i inform jc whats going on. i told him, jakes gonna go into business for himself if he doesnt get out there now. then before you know it, jakes walking down the isle towards the title match. jc scrambles and gets him to finally to the back. things are wayyyy outta control now. its just a matter of time. so now its match time...i go out first. whatever. then he comes out and does a promo. he starts talking about the radio interview he did and asks if anyone heard it. crowd popped a little bit. then he goes on about not being respected or some sh##. he then starts asking questions to the motorcycles that were on stage, and yes, I DID say motorcycles. i grab a chair and sit, while i watch this all go down. he ends his promo and i jump him as he enters the ring. i hit him twice, he no sells. im like, fu##er!!! i take him to the turnbuckle and choke him. he yells. turnbuckle!!! so i take him and throw him head first into the turnbuckle. he no sells, so i popped him real good with a forearm shot, and he said "whats that all about!" i did it again, hitting him with a stiff forearm to get him to sell and i yell at him, "sell for me you son-of-bi###!!!" i throw him into the buckle again he falls i roll him over for a 2 count, he kicks out, i cover again tighter, and he yells i cant go, what do think im stupid!?" then i tighten down and told the ref to count this piece of sh## out. 1-2-3!!!! 2 and half minutes of complete utter bullsh##. i was so pissed i could of stomped him into oblivion. so basically, i did what i thought was best for us, firestorm, not jake. hes selfish and a disgrace to himself and this buisness. pinning him, means nothing to me, im not a mark, wins and losses dont matter to me, i get paid the same no matter what. but my point is, jake is a LOSER. not just by being pinned-for real--but all the fans saw what a REAL FU##N LOSER LOOKS LIKE. let me tell you something about this "shannon chick:. i contacted her in hopes of using jake for my memorial show. i told her of last years show and of my mothers story. I also told her about donating to PETA and the West Greenwich Animal Hospital last year.

her response to me was this
"i will not tell jake of your interest in booking him due to the fact that you donated to PETA. I do not support them due to personal problems i have had with the company. I cannot say whether jake feels the same way. I'm sorry but i will not pass your resquest along."

what a crock of shit. i was so hurt when she said this to me. she wouldn't pass it along because of "her" feelings. it doesn't matter what her feelings are, its about doing the right thing.

i told you this story so that you can better understand what we're dealing with. jake has alot of problems, obviously and having this shannon chick around doesn't make it any better. if i had to deal with her on a daily basis, i'd be showing up drunk to every indy show too.

I've only skimmed this thread. It's hard to know the truth. If some wrestlers drugged his drink as a rib - that's pretty much the shits given Jake's substance abuse problems. Trust me, I'm the QUEEN OF RIBS (and also a ribbee as you guys know) and I appreciate a good one. But, messing with someone like that, who is fighting his demons every day, is pretty freaking low. On the other hand, if Jake every got in the ring, messed up, and endangered the welfare and well being of his opponent, well that's wrong too. Hard to know who to believe in this case. Hope Jake stays well.
