From their continued stories with Hardcore Legend Mick Foley, to their dangerous scramble cages matches, Ring of Honor once again solidified their spot as one of the top independent wrestling companies in 2005. Bringing events from OH to NJ to NYC, the company continued their momentum event after event. With former WWE stars James Gibson and Spanky making memorable matches and their heavy weight title controversy with WWE bound CM Punk, the company continued to push new stars. Roderick Strong, Jay Lethal and Jimmy Rave became breakout stars while established names such as Shane Douglas, Lance Storm and Matt Hardy helped draw major attention to the Philly based company. Along with the return of TNA workers such as AJ Styles and Chris Daniels, ROH saw the departure and return of now heavyweight champion Bryan Danielson. But perhaps the biggest moment for the promotion would be the appearance of japanese star Kenta Kobashi in his highly praised match with Samoa Joe in NYC and Low Ki's brutal match against Japan's GHC Junior champion KENTA.
