Hey JD I will give you some highlights that I remember.
As far as the rubber match goes, Thornhill defeated Momentum with a dragonrana (front flip off the top rope into a hurricanrana). After the match, the two showed some respect for eachother, with handshakes and whatnot.
In an extremely hard hitting match, Fergal Devitt defeated Michael Sain and retained his NWA British Commonwealth strap. VERY good match.
Bob Evans and PRIDE defeated the Hot Shots and Mike Bennett in a crazy PRIDE Rules match. There was some incredible action in this match. The end came when Bob and Bennett were the final two left in the match, when Bob smashed Bennett with a chair and then hit 2 Ugly Sticks.
Paul Lombardi defeated Chris Venom to hold onto the Heavyweight title.
The A-List retained in an incredible match against the veterans Ashworth and Goodspeed.
There were more matches, but my memory is foggy. I will leave those up to NOB. All in all, the show was top notch, with a large, vocal crowd.
I now hand over this thread to NOB with hopes of a better show report.
Dancin did a great job! It was definitely a very fun night for us, as we had our biggest crowd ever in Plainfield! The results are as follows:
The Logans beat Sabotage to retain their number one contender status for November 19. It looks like another Logans - A List showdown that day!
Jon Thornhill beat Sid Momentum as described. We're all very impressed with these two athletes.
Jonny Idol lost via countout to Frankie Arion as the Hot Shots dragged Idol out just as he was about to lose the NECW TV Title.
Violet Flame retained the NECW Women's Championship over Nikki Roxx.
In a tag team contest, the team of Chase Del Monte and Tony Montana were slated to take on El Boricua & Evan Always, when it was announced that Always was not going to make it. Boricua bravely decided to go on alone. After suffering a 2-on-1 for several minutes, one Grayson Alexander jumped up to the apron and assumed the role of Boricua's tag team partner. You may recall, that at Super Slam 2, Montana attacked Grayson and put him in his chicken wing submission. Well, Grayson got the tag and as Montana's back was turned, Alexander rolled him up for a surprising pin and the victory! One has to have a feeling that it isn't over between Montana & Alexander.
In a tremendous bout, "Rocket" Fred Curry defeated Joe Chece in what many considered a mild upset. The crowd was behind both men, but seemed to favor Curry slightly. Both men shook hands afterwards and several fans were clamoring for a rematch down the line.
Afterburn & Pat Masters defeated D-Unit when Masters pinned Doug Summers with the Masters Degree.
In a highly anticipated bout, Fergal Devitt defeated Michael Sain (again without Alex Crowley) to retain the NWA British Commonwealth Championship. A hard-hitting match by any standards, Devitt managed to use his technical wrestling expertise to outwrestle Sain. But not without suffering! Michael Sain AGAIN showed an amount of respect to Devitt afterwards and there were several fans AGAIN pulling for Sain. Does he hear the fans cheers? November 19 should be interesting.
The A-List defeated Sonny Goodspeed & Scott Ashworth (now collectively known as Chunky But Funky) with a rollup on Ashworth. The two fun-loving challengers were dominating the action until Mark Bourne tricked the official into thinking his back was hurt. As a few other refs came out to check on him, Andre Lyonz came in and scored the win on The Sweet One. A rematch should be scheduled in the near future.
In an exciting NECW Heavyweight Championship Bout, "Pinnacle" Paul Lombardi barely escaped with his title, defeated "Revolution" Chris Venom 2 falls to 1. Lombardi has already beaten 2 out of his 3 top contenders. A match with "Brutal" Bob Evans is scheduled for November 19 in Framingham. Has his luck run out?
In the wildest match in Plainfield history, "Brutal" Bob Evans & PRIDE defeated "The Epic" Mike Bennett & The Hot Shots in a PRIDE Rules elimination match when Evans pinned Bennett with 2 Ugly Sticks. It was a cage-crushing, chair-throwing extravaganza.
We're scheduled to return to the Town Hall on December 3 and we should have a very special announcement for that specific date! Stay tuned!
